Big Rigs

Just looking for a little advice from some of you who have the bigger rigs. We have a 2008 Jayco Seneca (Class Super C-Diesel) unit. Our first trip to the fort was last July. We were only able to stay for about 3 days (we had just purchased it and needed a few days to get to know it before we drove it across the country to get it home)
We booked with Disney over the phone and they placed us in a preferred site right across for the chip and dale camp fire. We were surprised to see lots of fifth wheels and travel trailers in that area. We were hoping to be closer to some of the other MH to get some quick schooling so to speak being new to the RV life. As we were walking around it seemed the Bigger Rigs were further away. Just wondering if there is a different area the MH's like to be and why? We are heading back in Aug. and will be there around 10 days or so and would love to be around some other Class A's or C's this time to gain some much needed wisdom. Is there a certain area we should be requesting or level of campsite? We were so impressed with everyone around us and honestly think every RV (tt, 5wh, and MH) owner we have met so far has been amazing but just looking to be able to bounce things off others who may have similar issues.

North of Mouse~Thanks! This is great to know. I was beginning to feel like Disney slid us in to the preferred site because we were newbe's and just didn't know better,lol. We are around 36-37 ft (with our matching trailer we were at 66 ft so we left that in the parking lot). When we read the description of the site it made sense but when we looked like the only MH in our area we started to wonder

We plan to take a look at the app of the Fort and see what looks appealing for this summer.


Lodge~We love it and it has been great as we have 4 kiddos and have to travel for work all the time. This will be huge for us not having to keep them strapped into car seats for 8 hours at a time or stopping a crazy number of times to go use a restroom Thanks for posting so quickly, even to just say Hi

You're welcome! Camping is the *best*. Especially *roughing* it gently and with conveniences.

A lot of the big rigs like the premium loops 400 - 1400 for the bigger concrete pads.

Congrats on the Jayco Super C, we know a couple people with them. Nice rigs.

The Preferred Sites are loops 100-300, with 300 also being a pet loop. If you were near the campfire, you were not in a Preferred site, but maybe 1500 or so. What loop were you in? I agree Premium 400-1400 loops are the places to be, especially with a bigger rig. You can always request a certain loop and Disney will attempt to accomodate. You can also change your location if the assigned space is not to your liking....if other spaces are available. We often look at the assigned space, but drive around to a more familiar and agreeable site, then call the front desk and ask for that site.

I saw a rig like yours it was in the 100 loop, looked tight with his truck( toad) and golf cart but I talked to him and that is his favorite area.

Premium sites are longer and give you more elbow room. Generally the angle of the sites are easier to back in a large rig.

We have visiting the FORT for over 20 years and find the accomodations and parking with a big motor home and fifth wheel no different than most upscale campgrounds/rv resorts. We have begun requesting the premium sites which offer more space (especially the concrete pad area). Also we trave with 2 golden retrievers, so we like to be close to the dog park ( a wonderful addition in our opinion). The only downside to the FORT is that the campground was built when campers/RV's were much smaller than today, and the roadways (loops) are somewhat narrow can be a tight fit with toads and cars parked in the travel lanes. And of course, all sites are back-ins which can be a challenge for some of the really large 45ft. motor homes. We have a 40 footer and have had little difficulty, but have witnessed some really difficult attempts with the larger 5ers and motor homes. We have friends who have a Seneca and travel with us at times - a great coach!, but our eye is on the Entegra Coach by Jayco. It will be the next one!!

bronk, have to say the entegra is *one more coach*, but our eyes will not be on that one in the future!

No way will we put that much money on something that has a motor and moves! That's more than the price of our home and land, and sorry, but it's not near as livable. Our coach is just great for us. To each his own though

We like loop 400 but 700 is a close second. We have a 40 ft Vectra

Thanks for the tip on Loop 700. We have been in Loop 300: major cypress debris and Loop 700 (much less cypress debris). We have a long-haired dachshund (dust mop!!!) and in Loop 300 we had to brush him before we put him back on the RV each time.

We did find the Loop 700 pads to be very nice for big rigs and filled with long-term "campers", like 6-8 weeks at a time.

My wife likes the 1400 loop because its close to the pool, tennis courts, etc..
Any premium loop works for me because of the larger cement pad
We have a Monaco Windsor 40' and sometimes it can be a little tight maneuvering
the motorhome in and out of the loops when we check in & check out

We were in the 1400 loop. I think I said I was in the preferred loop but should have said premium (I'm usually at resorts so preferred was in my head-sorry as I know this makes a difference when it comes to location)

We really did love the location and I know that is all that should matter. But because we were so very new (we picked up our rig in FL and drove straight to the Fort to figure out how to set up and get our feet wet) we were really looking for other MH owners to gain WISDOM,lol. We were so thankful for those around us who could walk us through the basics though. Now as we prepare for this Aug. we are sorting through the pics on the app we have to see if we can figure out where we want to be. THANKS SO MUCH to all for the great conversation and advice. It's great to hear everyone's favorites!

Bronk~ We love the seneca because it gives us two bunks and the over head sleeper. For our family of six it allows us all to sleep without converting our living area or eating space. I wish they would have put in U-shaped dinettes and washer/dryers since they are "Designed" for large families. Oh third world problems. We feel very blessed to have it as we need it for traveling for our Non-Profit. One of our donors wrote a very generous check to purchase it for us and the original owner took a partial donation on it selling it below value so we could get in at our "Cash" price. We are so excited to make it our Home away from home now. Our children LOVE the new ease of travel and as parents we love that the "adventure" our kids get to take as we set out to help others.
The Entegra Coach looks amazing! I would be afraid to let my little ones in there

You're going to see a mix of all types of RV's in all types of sites at FW (there really is no "pecking" order), I think you can expect most larger RV's (40ft+) to stay mostly in the premium sites though as there is more room to maneuver. If it's insight and learning that you're after I think you will gain the same amount regardless of the type of RV.

The term big rigs is sort of relative, to me you're referring to the 45+ foot RV with 25+ foot trailers that have little room to negotiate around tight spots - in this case I would recommend the premium sites only as there is more room to maneuver into and out of a site.
