I thought I had read somewhere on here that the RFID system was not yet installed in the AoA, but I just read a weekly emailed newsletter that was explaining the new stationary payment devices that allow you to touch and pay using your room key and AoA was listed as participating.

Also realize that all KTTW cards have had RFID in them for months. So even before a resort has all the locks changed over to RFID, the KTTW cards can still be used with the stationary payment devices that you should touch your KTTW card to for purchases.

If so, I guess maybe guests here will be one of the first to be able to use the FP+ and other RFID features.

Anyone with experience with any of this?

We were there right before Christmas and I could charge things onto my room card. I used once at the gift shop and in the parks a few times.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

It was the first resort to have it.

Just back last night from AOA and they do have them on the doors and was just starting to use the cards for payment with the RFID readers in the parks,, still had a few bugs to work out, didn't always work.. and along with the RFID reader you will be asked at the resort to make up a 4 digit pin number to use with your KTTW card

I'd assume it is 6 plus an infant only Bc we are doing a standard with 4 people plus an Infant. And standard says sleeps 4.

Just returned.
Enjoyed the resort. The 3 sleeping areas really was key for our family. Worked out very well.
Some bumps, however.
I gave the front desk my credit card so we could charge things back to the room. She neglected to enter a dollar amount (usually $500.00) on the room charge so we could charge things. Found out at dinner at SAn Angel Inn, with a $150.00 dinner charge that we had were not able to charge anything on our room key. Luckily, between us, we came up with the cash.
But the most important thing is, I had $700.00 in visa gift cards taken out of my travel wallet, which was left on the dresser. I used the safe most of the time, but one day I didn't. Gift cards were quickly used at the Kissemmee Target.
Reports were filed with Disney security and police.
Always use the safe!

That's terrible! Everyone knows they should be locked up, but you'd like to think that if you made a mistake they'd still be safe.

And seriously.... how stupid does the housekeeper have to be to think they won't figure out who did it. Sure other hotel staff have keys, but they wouldn't know yours would be the one room where someone left out their gift cards.

Would anyone happen to know if the king bed rooms are located in all the LM buildings? Thanks!

That is horrible! I hope they get them quickly! Is there any hope you will get your money back?

we check in a week from tomorrow. We are so excited so stay in the cars suite, even if it for only 2 nights. We then switch over to pop for 5 more nights, so we can still go over the bridge to see the cars yet save some money.

So sorry about the theft. We'll be at AofA in a few weeks and we'll be extra careful. But it's a goos reminder for everyone to always safeguard anything of value anywhere; Disney's not immune to crime.

A question about getting a FN suite - My kids are really set on FN room, and aren't keen on either Cars or LK. We are going to be there the second week of May, and at the moment the FN rooms are full. If you go to sites like hotels.com and Expedia they have FN rooms, but they aren't offering the 15% discount on them, like they are for the other two themes.
So my question is, what is my best approach at this point? Do I just stalk the Disney site and hope to jump on a cancellation? Would working through a travel agent do me any good? Any other creative solutions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I did some poking around on disneyworld.com and I see FN availability for some second-week May dates (5/6-5/10 for example). BUT if I use the 15% special offer that includes May dates, only Cars and Lion King are available.

Is that what you're trying for, the special offer? If so then it may be a guessing game when or if any FN rooms may free up for that.

If you're willing to just pay rack rates for FN, I'd check disneyworld.com again or call Disney Travel directly. I suspect they do have rooms available at full price.

This is the special offer I'm referring to:

This is why we won't be using gift cards, they are just not trackable enough....sorry that happened to you!! That kinda thing can happen at home, work, school anywhere..
