Our family of 5 would like to eat lunch at BOG during our June trip. I have 1 picky dd and a ds with sensory issues. There isn't anything on the menu that either one of them would eat. My question is, can we bring a counter service meal in from a nearby restaurant?
Thanks for any help or ideas.

This type of question has been widely discussed here on the DIS. It is a pretty controversial subject.
Would you bring Wendy's food into a MacDonald's for lunch? I wouldn't.
There are many, many, many restaurants in the MK and WDW that cater to picky kids. BOG happens to not, by some's definition.
Is there somewhere else you can all eat together?

This response is based off eating at BOG for lunch not dinner. At dinner since it is a TS then I would not.

I have tanken Long John Silvers into Wendy's. I have taken Flame Tree BQ into Pizzafari. So what you are stating is because we have picky kids, the adults should not be aloud to eat there?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruffle feathers. It's somewhere we would like to eat because it is new and we have been to Disney many times so we have hit most of the other restaurants.
When you bring up McDonalds/Wendys, you are talking about competitors. Do you really consider 2 restaurants within the Magic Kingdom competitors? They are both Disney owned.

I have done this as well! I used to take McDonalds into a restaurant my husband and I wanted to eat in because my son didn't want anything there. No biggie. I wouldn't have ordered him food there anyway, so it's no loss for them. It's gain, in fact, because I went there and spent my money. People need to mind their own beez-nazz! LOL :rotfl:

You talking Lunch OR Dinner? 2 different services. Mixing CS with CS OR mixing CS with TS.

I don’t see a problem with what the OP is suggesting. The BOG kid’s lunch menu is kind of bad. I know my children wouldn’t eat from it.

OK then I stick with what I said above. I say it is OK. We will probably go to Pinocchio's and grab the kids the adult chicken nugget basket and carry it in with us. We will get them drinks at BOG. Either way Disney is getting money to feed 4 people.

I have a son with sensory/OT issues, I would not hesitate to bring in something for him to eat. What WILL he eat- is there something on the menu the could be modified- as in buttered bread and fries instead of a sandwich and you could bring in chicken nuggetts and a cup of applesauce to go with it? Trust me, I understand.

I don't see a problem with this. In fact, I love Flametree so during our last trip I wanted Flametree BBQ, but my 21 mo. old DD wanted chicken nuggets. I got my food and took it to Resturantasaurs and then ordered for her and DH. Bonus, we got to eat inside rather than have the birds attach us at the outside tables near Flametree.

The only issue I see is if there is a long line getting into BOG for lunch that day, your child's food may get cold while waiting to order. We had to wait about 20 min. to be seated at BOG. I hear you about the kid's menu there. My DD was not impressed with that menu. I split the croque monisuer with her.

While I agree with you 100% that the Wendy's/McDonald's comparison is not apt because they are competitors and Disney food is Disney food, (people bring Turkey Legs from the Frontier Land cart into Pecos Bill's all the time), I do not know how this would work at BoG because of the logistics of the line. If you get the kids' food first, you'll be holding it for 45 minutes or more while you wait in line, order and get to your table. If you get to your table before leaving to go get the kids' food, you will not be able to get back in to the restaurant. Best to feed the kids first and then bring them along with you to BoG and perhaps buy them a dessert to eat while you dine.

Maybe because I am not a local and only go to WDW 1-2 times per year, but I would not want to make two separate QS lines. I would just pick a place that the family would enjoy (yes, kids included) and eat there. It just seems like such a waste of valuable time (and money, since entrance fees are not cheap).

I agree, why not just find a place you all like? I get the whole "it is new" thing, but if your kids are not going to eat the food then it just seems like a waste to me. The lines are long, so food will probably get cold, unless you packed a lunch for them, something like PB&J or etc...

You can always split food with them at BOG and get them a snack or something more filling after you leave BOG. OR why not visit BOG after lunch for dessert...I just wouldn't bother if people in my group or children were not going to eat anything. :confused3

Op, i just had your same situation. I was dying to try BOG for lunch - we had one day pre cruise in the mk. Dd7 is picky but i figured we'd make the best of it. What a bust. The kids menu just doesnt work for kids that eat only kids food like mine do. Even the mickey turkey meatloaf turned out to have red pepper in it and my kids wouldnt eat it. Even the chocolate cupcake was a little too adult for her and she wouldnt eat it. This is the only place in disney where i couldnt feed my kids (and we visit often). Yes the restaurant is fantastic. But my advice is if the menu seems like it won't work for your kids, there's a good chance it won't. Next time, i'd eat somewhere else.

Confused on how going to 2 separate CS lines cost extra money and what does entrance fees have to do with anything?

I took that as, you are paying X amount of dollars to enjoy a vacation or day at WDW and to waste time that could be used in other ways can effect the value of that day. Instead of two lines you could pick one place everyone agrees on or find something to eat at and move on to other things.

That is how I understood that part of the post. I could be wrong though!

I could see it that way I guess. That is where it is nice to have 2 adults. 1 goes and gets the kids food while the other waits in BOG line. It will be like eating at Cosmic Rays. We usually have to go through 2 or even all 3 of the lines for everyone in our family.
