Anyone stay at Holiday Inn Club Vacation - Orange Lake

We have a ton of points earned by my hubby's work travels so I'm thinking of staying part of our trip at this place:

It's a 2 bedroom villa with 1K, 2Q, 1200 square feet, a full kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer, hot tub and the list goes on.

But, I've never stayed at one of their resorts.......any pros/cons?

It's a 2 bedroom villa with 1K, 2Q, 1200 square feet, a full kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer, hot tub and the list goes on.

But, I've never stayed at one of their resorts.......any pros/cons?

We just stayed there. The resort is very spread out, so depending on your room, you may have to drive your car to the pools, restaurants and other amenities they have. Many of the 2-bedroom unit line the golf courses they have there.

Our room was very spacious and looked like it have been updated in the past couple of years. TVs were small and older, though.

Location-wise resort is very close to Super Target, Publix and several good restaurants.
The closest Disney park is Animal Kingdom, about 15 minutes or so away. It took me 30 minutes to drive to Downtown Disney one evening.

We prefer a more compact resort, like bonnet creek, where you can walk to everything, so I would not likely stay there again unless I was planning a golf trip.

As mentioned above the resort is very spread out, but there is a ton of stuff to do there! They have I believe 7 different pools, lazy river, restaurants, golf, a lake, and much more.

You will be asked to attend a presentation, but all you have to do is simply tell them no.

The two bedroom rooms are very spacious and have everything you need in them.

It is also a cashless resort. You can either use your room key to pay for things or a credit card. I am not sure if they do it with non owners but you give a $250 deposit. They then deduct anything you used on your room key at the end of your stay.

We love Orange Lake. We've stayed in the 1-bdrm, 2-bdrm and the 3-bdrm on various trips. As mentioned above, it is a large resort and a car is needed to enjoy it and the various amenities.

Hmmm. That's hard to believe. Not when there's so much to do in Orlando,

Lots to do and a great place.

That's true. I think most of the condos are within walking distance of a pool. Last trip, our condo was not in the center of action, and we were still about a half block away from a small pool.

If we didn't get Wyndham Bonnet Creek for our October trip, we'd probably head back to Orange Lake.

We stayed there for Food and Wine one year for a long weekend. Very nice, spacious 3 bedroom condo. great area, close to Target and restuarants. a bit of a drive to the parks but nothing too horrible.

We wanted to stay there again the next year but it was too pricey compared to the $69 a night we paid the year before, lol. That was a mega deal!

Many timeshares have a larger land area than OLCC (which is 1500 acres or 15x the size MK). But OLCC is the world's largest, single-site, purpose-driven timeshare offering the amenities it does.

Some guests may mean they don t stay overnight at any other property during their trip. Do you really think half dont leave property for any activity,meal or shopping? I suspect you're misinterpreting guest responses

I dunno. I'll still highly recommend Orange Lake. But as a headquarters for your Orlando vacation. There's so much to do outside of OL, that you wouldn't want to stay there all the time.

Our family owns a 2br at orange lake, we love it, it's close to the parks, we get there usually in under 15 minute even in August. It is spread out, but there are offerings in each Villiage, and the shuttle can take you anyplace on property. It's a nice place and our 2br in the east Villiage is really nice. Can't wait until August! The CSR in September!

I stayed here with my family for our holiday vacation last year. We could not stand the place and checked into leaving immediately. It was a busy year so we couldn't check out using RCI but we wanted to. After staying at many time shares in the Orlando area including Sheraton Vistana, WBC and Vacation Village at Parkway, this one was sorely lacking. We stayed in the east village but was really far away from the pool. This was after explaining that my Dad had a stroke and heart condition and couldn't walk very far.

We got an updated room with very old, tube tv's. This was it for us. I know for some people tv's don't mean a lot but because of our modified schedule with my Dad, a good tv is important. We had one flat screen in the living room that was 32 inches.

The jacuzzi in the bathroom was very disappointing. It wasn't separate from the shower.

The washer and dryer was very loud. The worst part for me was how far away it was from all of the parks, outlets and everything else.

This year I learned my lesson booked early at WBC.

And our trips to the parks were fast, even in August, I have stayed onsite and the wait for the bus+the ride was probably the same or worse. Yea, some of the villas still have tube TVs. But very few and they are being replaced with flat-screens.

It is a little further west on 192 but only a 2-4 miles from Sherberth, World Drive, and a ton of places to eat. And it's 10 mins from the Premium Outlets (which is actually closer than if you stay at most Disney hotels...)

We had the same experience a few years ago when booking through RCI. We were all excited based on the pics we saw online and very disappointed in the unit we received. We had the same thing happen at Westgate Lakes on our honeymoon. We were given a very old worn unit then insisted on showing us the brand new ones we could have had before they'd sign off on our checkout papers. Needless to say, now we just book villas in rental communities like Windsor Hills or we rent points for DVC.

We stayed there in August 2012. We specified the River Island area and we walked out our door to the lazy river/pools complex. We did have tube TVs in the bedroom, but flatscreen in the living area. Washer and dryer were fine. We did 2 resort days seeing the guy from Gatorland who does the show at the main building and pool hopping.

We were happy there. Took about 20 to get to WDW Sea World depending on the park. And from the upper levels at RI you could see the fireworks at Disney from the balcony.
