morning everyone..
Every day I look to see if there is any AP discount out yet....we are booked for All Star Movies...BUT hubby said if the AP discount is any good for French Quarter then we COULD go there...Port Orleans was our very first resort when we celebrated (a little late) 25th and a half wedding anniversary..now this year is our 46th...we have gone every year...sometimes MORE...we do love this place and new things come up every year...

Our favorite resort is FQ, then Movies. Riverside aka Dixie landings was third...POP is out in left field. We did go to the Dolphin maybe 4 times ..but going thru the gorgeous lobby in our flip flops and bathing suit ...while a man played the piano in a fancy suit...we felt out of place..(although it was an awesome resort) .so we will stick with the other options..

sent an email to Florida Town car and asked if we were able to fit four suitcases, and four carry on's as well as four adults in the town car..or should we look into the van instead....we may not do Magical express...we do love the town car service...decisions decisions...

todays weather is FROGGY out...cant see down the hill even...May can not come soon enough...

have a good day everyone

Jen So cute...our Nancy can only rest at night and when DS4 is at preschool ;)

Ok, my ENT issue....

Wookie had th nose issue

Jen your DD covers throat

My DS4....:worried: his ears..we are going to an ENT Monday. He failed his second hearing test..only one ear. I am going to the school nurse tomorrow so she can show me how he tested..I trust her

I hope its a wax buildup, fluid something..why must my kiddos have issues....ugh. Thanks for letting me vent.

:crowded: I'm sure you'll all fit in the towncar :)

These AP rates....I bet we have to wait another month :duck: Grrrrrrr (not that I need to look at May anymore...haha)

He claims that is what the conference people want. They do have mandatory receptions and such at night, but it doesn't say you have to stay the entire time. He says the only discount Disney tickets they offer are for before and after. Ummm, no I looked and they are offering the after 2 PM and after 4 PM tickets. My fil isn't exactly reasonable when it comes to working for him. When I worked for him before, doing his scheduling, he expected me to answer the phone from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday - Thursday, 7 AM to 5 PM on Friday (b/c I left the phone with him on the weekend) and then I only made $110 per week.

Hi Wookie,
About conferences and Disney...We attended a large WDW convention about 7 years ago or so. At that time (maybe still?) Disney really gave the hard sell to the planners on the convenient restrictions of the after 2 or after 4 tickets. The planners were totally clueless about Disney, and sorta thought that that was a great gatekeeper. (These special tickets will insure your attendees don't miss sessions.) We had a few conversations with the planners, (at the convention) who were shocked that folks "could" (and did) buy their own tickets that allowed them to go whenever. :rolleyes1

At any convention, but especially a Disney convention, the event planners should use time wisely. Plan for park some time, or folks will plan it themselves.;)

Good morning everyone, I figure I will catch up while I am home waiting for the exterminator.

First, thank you for all the compliments for the picture of Janet and I, it was so wonderful for finally meet an RC'er and Janet is just wonderful :goodvibes

Candace - definitely sounds like 2014 is going to be a great vacation year :hyper: And to add to the excitement, you now have your friends joining you this year, I think you should probably play the lotto, as you seem to be on a great lucky streak ::yes::

Padawans - I am more than happy to answer anything I can about the cruises :) YAY on the kennel, sounds perfect :thumbsup2

Debrn - WOOHOO, sounds like you have a great trip coming up!

Dani - I am always reading comparisons between the RCCL and DCL cruises. We always end up choosing RCCL just because we feel we get our Disney fix living down here. Plus I didn't like the fact that the kids programs aren't broken down as much by age on DCL as they are on RCCL.

Jen - I hope DD is feeling better and everyone else is still somewhat healthy. :goodvibes Oh your kitty is soooo cute!

i_heart - did you call CRO to check on Poly yesterday?

Jeanette - hope the migraine didn't take you down for too long :worried: Hopefully like you say it is just wax or fluid with DS, I know when DD has had an ear infection or just even a little fluid it affects her hearing. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you

DznyCrzy11 - THat stinks about the insurance :( But as for cruising, we love RCCL, we have sailed on the Freedom, Oasis, and Allure!!! Great cruise line!!! I am happy to answer anything I can about them.

Wookie - sorry about the trip, maybe FIL will come around and decide it is okay for you to go and to get to play in the World :rolleyes2

Ginny - that weather definitely sounds wacky! Hope you get everything done before the snow starts.

pumba - I will keep my fingers crossed for a good AP discount for you ::yes::

UGH, I forgot to put my bread in the oven when it was done rising, and now have to wait for it to finish baking before I can run out to Target. The Target close to me (that I went to yesterday) was out of the gluten free chicken tenders, of course :headache: so now I need to go to another town to another Target because of course I only had enough for today and that is all my kids will eat for lunch.

I hope everyone has a great day and stays warm and safe with all the wacky weather out there. I will send some sunshine to each of you :sunny:

Melissa

Aww..Pas, that is totally adorable! princess:

She is so funny! Two of my favorite things she says are "Holy macaroni" and "Mommy you just scared the cannoli out of me " She is the cutest thing...she like a little Mighty Mouse...ok I am a wee bit biased ;)

Good afternoon All
Jeanette

Behind in my reading as usual but I had to comment on Brea's sayings.... I love the cannoli reference, she is precious!

Your boys would love Universal. My boys choose it over Disney. The Spiderman 3D ride is the best ride I have ever been on. I can't wait to go to the one in Hollywood to ride the Transformers 3D. It's a much different pace then Disney. You will get front of the line passes to every ride. No need to make ADR's, but lots of good restaurants within walking distance. No busses you can walk everywhere. The resorts and pools are as good as or better than Disney. Club level is great. You can't beat the value. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it's only a 4 night 3 day trip. I can't fly to Orlando for 4 nights so it's always a add on to Disney, therefore it does make my Disney trips more expensive.

That sounds great! I'm thinking maybe after this round of APs we will venture over that way. Probably a Universal/SW/beach trip in Summer 2014. ::yes::

Ok ladies, the DVC idea is out. It's just too much money right now so maybe next year. Now I've decided I want a new adventure. So, we are thinking about trying a Disney Cruise, believe it or not my husband is the one who mentioned this! The only problem is, I already paid the $200 deposit and had insurance so I would only get $48.10 back ($151.90 was the cost of insurance) since it's been over 14 days since I booked the trip. Has anyone else had this issue before? I called DCL to see if the insurance could be transferred and they said it couldn't because they are under a different insurance plan. So now, I'm stuck with deciding if I just stick with the WDW vacation or lose $151.90.

Also, can anyone else recommend any good cruise lines, other than DCL and not Carnival (my husband went on Carnival a few years ago and was not impressed)?

I'm going to give it a few days to make an actual decision but I am really leaning towards going on a cruise, I've never been on one and the idea of cruising down to the Caribbean would be a new adventure and sounds wonderful!

Sorry about DVC. On to new plans! Do you think you could reduce the package down to one night and do it pre or post cruise?

I'm listening to the fil talk to the DH about the training, and he does not want me going b/c I "don't work for the company". I don't want to go anymore. He expects whoever goes to focus on appliances only from 7 AM to 10 PM.

That's the vibe DH got from his boss about their convention too which is why we aren't going. I think it's BS, but whatever. :rolleyes2

'Morning Ladies,
My net is back. Yea! I can read from my phone (and post a little, but my skills aren't that great with longer posts) but I much prefer the laptop to keep up.

Today's wacky weather--flood watch, fog advisory, lake effect snow advisory starting this eve for 6-12 inches of snow from tonight thru Fri. In the meantime, it's 50 degrees out there.

MM-Two vacations, lucky you!

LuvLuvLuv-Hooray for a mini-stay. Hope you had a wonderful time!

Jenny-About strep...Our son went through a really bad phase with it. I'd take him in, get the meds, think he was OK, and overnight he'd develop the fever and rash and be right back with it. We finally got through it, but it was worrisome. He's also the one who had bad ear problems. When he was about 16 months old, he still wasn't talking. They figured out he wasn't hearing, popped in the tubes, and he his speech delays disappeared, thank heaven. Kids, they can worry ya.
Hope your dd is much better soon!!!

sjs314, Wookie, DznyCrzy11-I agree with you guys, Disney's computer system is pretty nuts. I have old addresses pop up occasionally too. That house number stuff, pronouncing your name, both are annoying....Just connect me already. Who advises them on this stuff?? It just over complicates things.

Lacey, Annual passes would be Disney heaven! Someday.

Marie, I'm late to your birthday party. Hope you had a lovely day!!

Padawans-I enjoyed reading about Universal. So many parks, so little time...

Janet and Melissa, Lovely photo! Glad you had a nice chat!!

Waving hi to the RC friends, have a great day!
...Now I'm off to the store to get my errands done before the snow starts. How long till spring????:rotfl:

Yay for the internet! :cool1: I hope you get you errands done in time! Bad weather is headed my way too. I was liking the 50's and 60's

DH had plenty of practice...have to say he is a natural nuturer...mades him a great daddy too

So did ya change????

;) We probably all do!

Sure does...I just have such poorimpulse control i don't think before booking

That's great! Sounds like a nice vacation for you and the pup. Great prices :cool1:

No cruise info here...sorry about DVC..we owned in SSR 2003-2008. Unfortunately when we bought we were a family of 4...so we couldn't even go yearly...when I looked into buying points :faint: so it's cheaper to go with a discount now...we did sell our points and get a trip out of it from the profit

Haha I did that when Brandon saw an Atlantis commercial

Bree asked this morning if she could touch the fog...so cute

What a sweet little girl. :lovestruc No changes. Poly CL isn't available or 10 nights. I didn't check for a split though. Probably won't entertain that until I'm sure I can get a discount on both parts. I should have booked 2 BB's since I know I won't want to end up staying in only one resort.

I agree. Even thought the stuff in the evening is "mandatory" it does not say you have to stay the entire time.

I think a major miracle would have to happen. Every time the DH brought up about how it would be nice to have my help driving the fil changed subjects. The DH said he was like, "well...oh look...squirrel. Then go to a different subject about the conference. When the DH told him I wouldn't have to go to the convention (so they wouldn't have to pay for me to attend), and since they have two bed in the room, the fil was like, "how do you know there are two beds in the room. It doesn't say anything about there being two beds in the rooms." The thing is he also talked about each one of the other techs going with the DH or bil or mil. I was like, so if he's expecting there to be only one bed in the room, he was excepting you to either share a bed with him, your mom, your brother, your brother in law, or a guy you barely know? Plus is was probably a bad night to talk about it. The fil was is a very bad mood. He gets like that some times. It's like you can feel his anger in the air and that at any minute he might blow for any reason. When it gets really bad, it's almost like he doesn't have control of what he does or says. He's just rages at anyone he comes into contact with.

I though about you yesterday. I was looking at Disney World apps on my iPhone while the DH was in a house yesterday. Just to see if there was a new one out. I found one that helps with Gluten free dining at WDW. I don't know if you have an Apple device, or if you have it already or not. If your interested, I can look on my phone and tell you the name.

That's the vibe DH got from his boss about their convention too which is why we aren't going. I think it's BS, but whatever. :rolleyes2

It's totally BS. You should not have to put in any more hours at a convention than you would at a normal working day.

I have never seen my DH so ticked at his dad. Even as much as his dad yells, and belittles his mom on a daily basis. I volunteered mainly to help the DH with driving. I would have made the same offer if it had been in the middle of nowhere Montana with nothing around the convention for 100 miles. I was willing to even rearrange my school schedule, which would have meant putting off taking one of my primary courses. It's ok...he doesn't want me to help with this because "I am not a paid employee" well then I won't help with things with the company around here. He can either finally make the bil man up and do it, or do it himself.

Feels like Monday because it's DD's first full day in a week because of late starts, early releases and two days off:upsidedow

Thank you so much, Janet for posting the beautiful Melissa/Janet FL meet-up photo. I went to Ikea yesterday and didn't see one single RC:worried:

It's now 71 here and getting really w i n d y... Hope no one was affected by the tornadoes, etc...

Especially with DS4 when I went into premature labor and went on Mag...ugh I lost it, but he took good care of me :lovestruc
Magnesium Sulfate is awful - especially in Korea:rolleyes2

Road trip to Ohio to pick up Sheila's mail
:rotfl:

Warning....:offtopic:!!

I just wanted to share this with you all, this is our little boy's favorite perch to sit and watch the birds go by. The DD's are all at school now, and he can rest!!

Could just be because he's a boy:scratchin. Seriously, I know you're worried and I think the ENT will straighten everything out:listen:

She is so funny! Two of my favorite things she says are "Holy macaroni" and "Mommy you just scared the cannoli out of me " She is the cutest thing...she like a little Mighty Mouse...ok I am a wee bit biased ;)
LOVE it:thumbsup2

Magnesium Sulfate is awful - especially in Korea:rolleyes2

That medicine is so terrible, I can't imagine having to go through it in another country. My doctor would put me on it, then take me off it, and did that like 3 times. It wasn't as bad once I got used to it. It was the starting it up and getting used to it again. It burned my veins as it went through them and even hurt to blink.

I LOVE an off topic cat:lovestruc. He is so elegantly perched.

I totally missed that picture of a cat with my head up my rear and all. That cat is beautiful!!

My DH just called, he's on his way home (yipee!!) He said one thing what he got from his dad's attitude last night was a desire, then he corrected himself, and said no he has obsession with going to WDW.

Then I left my room to ask my mil when she wanted me to start dinner. The fil had been in a meeting and he said "Kim, we're still thinking about the FL thing." I swear he can go from the sweetest man in the world one day to a raging at everything and everyone.

Good evening, lovely pals. :goodvibes :wave2:

Quick hello and hugs and thinking of you guys and hope the germs will go away for those kiddos (and adults) dealing with the ickies AND just HOW gorgeous are our Janet & Melissa?! :worship:

Got an Open House at school tonight ( :confused3 ) then throw some dinner down everyone's gobs and I'm going to bed! Ah, the never-ending excitement and thrills of adulthood. :rolleyes2

ok, y'all are mom's so I want to see if this thing with the fil has me over emotional.

I was helping the oldest DS with a speech and the topic was "about me". He had two main points and he needed a third. I suggested talking about how he was born early and how small he was. After I helped him, I read what he wrote. In the family section he put how close he was to his dad and how they love to game together. All he said about me was I take care of his grandparents.

I'm the one that takes him to early football practice. I am the one that helps him with homework. It just made me sad.

Wookie: Aw I am sure you mean much much more to him than that. I don't have experience with boys but maybe they have a harder time putting their feelings on paper, especially as you were helping him too. I hope you are not too sad, and you are allowed to be emotional whenever you want here. lots of hugs....

Thank you. The other part about family he did at school. My DH thinks I'm being "girly" about it which is the term he uses when he think I'm being overly emotional. He said that since the DS is going to have to give this speech in front of the class, he doesn't want to seem wussy by talking about how close he is to me.

Hmmm..this does make sense. :scratchin Maybe your DH knows what he is talking about.::yes::

BL Be careful what you wish for. The AP's are addictive and costly..
that's why I haven't done it yet! I would so book too many trips in the one year!

So, on the whole kennel thing. It drives me crazy how they nickel and dime you. We have kenneled our dog twice. The place is nice and the people are friendly but I just hate the extra $10 for more play time or $5 for an extra potty trip. Luckily, my mil loves our dog. She kept him a few times last year. My parents have kept him too but I don't think they really like him much.

Congrats on the RPR upgrade. We haven't done Universal yet. I think my kids would like it because they love thrill rides. I am just Disney's target customer. Fly down, use ME, don't venture off property........

This is pretty much how my work conventions are. If I want to do something in the area, I have to add days before or after. That means I have to pay for the extra hotel days. That also means I don't do it often ;-)

I think you should get to go, help with driving, not register for the convention and have your day to do whatever. It's crazy if your fil plans to make dh share a bed. Surely he isn't going to put 4 to a room.
DznyCrzy11 said:
That's ok. Yes, you are correct. At first I was being told the full $200 would be put back in my acct and then she said "wait a minute, you purchased the travel ins which was $151.90 and since it's been over 14 days since your reservation was made, instead of getting the full $200 back, they keep $151.90 of that $200". I was disappointed to hear that!! :( She did say you can file a claim with the insurance and try to get the $151.90 back. My guess is, if you add ins to your reservation, after the 14th day they purchase the policy, that's why you wouldn't get that portion back.

Sent from my Galaxy S II
That is crazy! I didn't know insurance worked that way! By the way, Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line.

Good luck with the ap discount. No idea about the town car. We like ME. see post above - I totally buy in to all the gimmicks - Disney has me right where they want me!

I agree with your dh. It's cool to game with dad, not cool to be mushy about mom. But, I understand the hurt feelings so big hugs!
