Is that post regarding magic band correct? Are they there at bc/yc already? Last i heard, they were slated for limited rollout in feb for either bw or akl with others to follow later. Thanks!

We should wire ALMinVA some money to try the Lobster and Shrimp Rolls ;) And we need a pic too!!!

Think of how much money she could make if she shipped them out to all of us waiting for our vacations to start. The lucky girl would never have to leave the resort! (she would be knee deep in lobster rolls though.. :confused3)

Just wondering if you got the super cheap point rental deal that was on here this a.m. $6!!!!
So wished that I could use it, but it had to be tomorrow through Friday, and I live in NY lol. Definitely pixie dust for you :)

I did go thru here... but not the post I actually posted on. I ended up finishing up all of someone's points for $5 per point :worship::cool1: I've had some good deals on points in my time--but never something this amazing. Plus--being that it's January--the points are lower :thumbsup2

I was only planning on one night, but it was too good, so I ended up with 2. What a steal--I am so excited I can't stand it!! It made it easier to convince DH since we only live 3 miles away.

Think she could send some grey goose and gran mariner slushies along with the lobster rolls, too? I'd pay top Disney Dollars for them! ;)

I know that YC/BC now has the new bracelets for park admissions and for entrance to room and for SAB and also charging to the room. Do you have to get these or can you get a key card for your room? I'm not a fan of having anything around my wrists.

How does this work for those of us who have a car when we go to the YC/BC, do they have a special reader at the gate? (We take the car to go to dinners and to other parks)

I'm an annual passholder so my room key is usually different than my park admission. Anyone know how this is going to work?

Sounds like they still have a lot to work out on this. IMO they will have to have a different option than bracelet. A lot of folks don't like things on their wrist. Here is a post from Jim Hill Media yesterday with some of updated information. As with all second hand information proceed on your own>>>>

Anyway ... So just to recap here: Though the start of official onsite testing of MagicBands has now been quietly pushed back to late February / early March, it's still full speed ahead for the My Disney Experience program. Which Company officials eventually hope will bring that hassle-free, pampered feel of a Disney Cruise to the Walt Disney World Resort vacation experience.

That said, Disney knows that a lot of people will be paying very close attention to what happens during the initial roll-out / in-park tests of those MagicBands. Which is why -- rather than allowing Guests who are staying at Disney's Boardwalk to have first crack at this particular component of the My Disney Experience program -- the thinking now is that they may need to get away from the Epcot Resorts area. That a far more remote resort might be a better test site for the initial roll-out of MagicBands. Which is why the in-house scuttlebutt now is that Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge may wind up being the guinea pigs for this yet-to-be-field-tested-in-a-large-way element of MyMagic+. That it'll be people who've booked packages at AKL who'll be the first to be issued MagicBands.

But make no mistake, folks. In spite on any privacy concerns that Ed Markey's letter to Bob Iger last week may have raised, the My Disney Experience program is still going forward. The Walt Disney Company has put too much time & money into the development of MyMagic+. Though that said, Mouse House managers recognize that -- given how long it took to educate WDW visitors about the particulars of FASTPASS when that ride reservation system was first introduced back in 1999 -- there'll be a pretty steep education curve with the public when it comes to this much-more-involved use of technology. Especially since some of the more innovative features of the My Disney Experience program (EX: The ability to order quick service meals in advance from anywhere inside of a WDW theme park using your smart phone) aren't expected to come online for a few months yet.

Mmmmm Grey Goose slushies AND lobster rolls! The idea alone will get me through my day at work!

I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Beth and we will be staying at BC for the first time this August as part of my 40th birthday trip!

Hi Beth! Welcome to the thread. I'm also going to the BC for the first time in late August.

Regarding mymagicexperience, for people with bc trips in 60 days or less, is the program giving an option for online checkin (where is it on mme webpage), and does it include prompts for fastpass plus, parade view reservations, etc? Thanks! (We have a bc trip in may, so things may be rolled out by then even if not yet available). And a quick repeat thank you to Dee, who spends so much time (i assume without compensation) to ensure this thread is so nice.

I'm wondering how long SAB is typically open during May?

The info on pool hours keeps changing. I would think the pools will at least be open until 10, perhaps longer at the lifeguards discretion if the weather is really warm and the crowds are big. Still may not be late enough if your boys are closing down the parks- well, they could go after AK and EP.

The quiet pools and hot tubs there are open 24 hours.

BTW- I have a trip report (Welcome Foolish Muggles, in my signature) from our 4 night stay at the dark side- we were at the Portofino, but I think Hard Rock would have been much better for my family.

I love the planning, too. I never realized how much I enjoyed it until we had a last minute trip to Disney and there wasn't any time to plan.

ITA!!!

I didn't have the opportunity to help plan the class trip we took in June and it drove me crazy!!!

Hello, fellow BC/YC lovers! Dee, I'm very excited to announce that you can finally move me from a maybe March 2013 trip to a definite!!! Right now we are booked 3/2-3/10. I have to split the trip into 4 separate reservations in order to be able to get the best discounts, so as of right now, we are in a garden view room every night except 3/7, which is booked for water view (that was the only night they didn't have a discount available for GV). It is crazy, but I'll do whatever it takes to get back to the BC...even if it means 4 different rooms in one trip. I'm hoping that I will just be allowed to just stay in my GV room, even though I am booked for a WV one night.
Teena, I think I read somewhere that you will be visiting your daughter at the end of Feb, but I'm hoping you will be back by the beginning of March. If not, I'll be disappointed to miss you, but I know you'll be having a fabulous time with the little princess!

I'm excited to put your stay into permanent type! I hope your mega-split doesn't give you a splitting headache, but I would totally do the same thing!!!

Is it possible to get a Kids Meal at Hurricane Hanna's without the pail/shovel and is it cheaper?

I don't want to necessarily get a new pail/shovel each time we buy a kids meal.

Also, can substitutions be made for the kids meal sides and beverage (ie fries , soda)?

Thanks for any info!

I'm sure you can get it without the pail, but I doubt you would get a discount. Almost positive you can switch out soda for milk- Disney just lists the healthier option on the menu. I know when we got burgers from HH, we got French fries, I don't know for sure, but assume that is still the case. Will post the info as soon as someone reports back.

Tweaked my stay. Now staying Pop 1 night since we have late arrival then YC CL 7 nights :)
27 more days Can't wait !! It was 37 degrees today and it felt so mild compared to the weather we've had so anything over. 60 on vacation will feel tropical :)

I'll make the adjustment.

I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Beth and we will be staying at BC for the first time this August as part of my 40th birthday trip! I can't believe it all worked out for us to be able to go; I am so excited! This thread has been so helpful! I can't thank you enough. I got so much useful info out of it and it was great to show my kids, who were initially really set on wanting to go to the Poly... once they saw a couple of pics, they were thrilled to try the beach club. And I love that because of everything I've learned on this thread, I have been able to answer a lot of their (and dh's) questions about the resort.

Dh and I have said for years that we would like to try the BC but never felt "ready" to make that leap. The deal through Magical Vacations inspired us to go for it. At first, I felt like I was settling because we all really planned that our next trip would be Poly again for sure. But now we are actually really excited and even if we could get a comparable deal at Poly I really think we would prefer to try BC.

Thanks again and look forward to trying to keep up around here! This place moves fast! :moped:

:welcome:

So glad to hear you are checking out the Beach Club for your birthday celebration. Let us know if you have any questions.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

You assume correctly!

You are welcome, and I appreciate the encouraging words!

:welcome: We're heading to Yacht Club (apparently the dark side:eek:) for the first time in late August and are so excited too!:cool1: I just said to my DH last night, would it be wrong to get a birthday button and say we are celebrating my 40th while at Disney...I turn 40 in June and we're not going till August? He says it's too far away. :(

Loving this thread too, so much info and so much fun to follow along. Thanks Dee!:thumbsup2

Might as well throw in some Oreo Bon-Bons from the Marketplace for a well-rounded meal.

I think the Oreo Bon-Bons would be the perfect ending for this meal :)

Im in HEAVEN...

ok so i did not get those magic bands, we have annual passes and just got room keys. Getting into the parks and the parking lots were no problems as you just wave your room key on the Mickey and thats what opens everything.
On EMH at animal kingdom, they had guests using room keys - we had paper annual passes and it was no problem, they had cms with handheld devices scanning paper tickets.

Loving the YC, spent a few hours at SAB yesterday before our yachtsman reservation - kids went to beaches and cream and the arcade with a kids nite out sitter and we adults had a nice steak!

Today - is the day, I am lobster roll bound!!! Hurricane Hannahs here we come! Its illuminations cruise night for Dh's birthday and resort play day - I will take pictures. I am a lobster roll fan, its all i ever order when we visit New Hampshire in July!!!

Have to run, kids want breakfast -
will be back! only sad part so far is we missed Teena!!!! All the confusion of dh's delayed flight set us back and we never made it over :(

ill be back with more info and pictures!

You do get a discount if you order a kids meal no pail and shovel. We accumulated so many, wish i knew sooner. That free pail is not really free. I think they took 2 bucks off

Dee- thanks for confirming, which confirms my negative opinions of the recent spate of near personal attacks against you and/or the other responders/moderators here. Just like I give my son and my wife (but for different reasons), you get a big "woohoo!" Back to positive things, do you or others have any further update on magic bands/magic plus/fastpass plus? It sounds like bands are not there yet (or are they), but there is rfid on rooms and parks. Is there now rfid on sab admission? Is there 60 day out online reservation, fastpass plus, parade view reservation, etc?
