Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Hi! I'm mostly a lurker here. I have a question for the Coach, if he's still hanging around here. Or anyone else that can answer this. Your updates, trials and tribulations have inspired me to try for the Wine and Dine 2013. My question is, I don't see an age limit listed on the runDisney site, my kids ( at the time of the race ) will be 12 1/2 and 11. They would really like to run/walk the 1/2 marathon. Are they old enough? And is it ( physically ) safe for them to run it? I'd hate to do some lasting life long injury to them. We started running together last year and the most we have run is a 5K. We plan on starting our training again in April. Thanks for any/all advice :)

pix13dust, I'm pretty sure the 1/2 marathon age requirement is 14. I know it's 18 for the full.
As far as it being an ok distance for them to run and train for, someone more knowledgable with running and that age will have to give their advice. My DS ran his first 1/2 at 14 and was fine with the training and the race.

Yes, minimum age for the Half is 14. Minimum for the ToT 10 miler, however, is 12!! My DD is counting down till she can do these races, so I'm well aware of the age requirements! 2014 ToT will be her first Disney race as she turns 12 in May!:thumbsup2

Man, I obviously wasn't paying attention at the finish line - in my finish line picture, I see Minnie in the background!
SO bummed I didn't go high five her!
I think I was still too shocked that I was finishing :)

I'll pop in and say that for most 14 yo the half can be a very safe distance. I would have them (and anyone starting an endurance program) visit a doc to make sure the knees and hips are mature enough to handle the stresses. There are a few folks whose growth plates have not matured enough to train for the event. The real issue is getting them to train. I would definitely put the carrot of ‘miss a run; miss the race’ at the start of the training cycle. Also, remember, it seems neat to many 14 yo before the training starts; it may not seem so neat when you are out at the crack of dawn getting the runs in.

Thanks for responses! I guess the kids will have to be content with cheering me on and attending the after party! Of course this means we will be forced to go back to Disney when they turn 14 in 2015 and 2017. :)

Anyone ever had success in getting a picture (or two) moved from one runner's package into another's if both runners are in the photo?

My DH and I ran together so our photo packages are nearly identical except that his package includes a shot with the villian group (my bib is covered in this one) and the finish line shot that includes the clock time (my bib is clearly visible in this one, so I'm not sure why it's missing from my package). I emailed them to see if they would be able to move them since I'm clearly in both photos, but I wasn't sure if they would do it or not. If they won't, we'll just do without them, but I'd sure like to have them as part of the package if possible.

I've emailed twice and have received no replies. :(

If I have time tomorrow, I'm going to give them a call. We are in the same boat. My wife has the most complete set of pictures, but there are two in my account which I'd hate to lose.

I had an issue on my order and it took a couple of days before they replied to my e-mail but the problem was resolved quickly once they did answer. Hopefully they get back to you soon.

Last year you could pull up anybody's photo and look at it and I believe add it to your file. I don't really think much of this new company. I had more pictures taken last year than this year as well.

I'm not impressed with them either. All of my pics from the half are missing from my Goofy order.

I finally heard back after a week with a copy and paste answer that accounts cannot be combined. As I was asking to add two pictures to my wife's album, that didn't really answer my question. Replying and trying again. :(

It's also disappointing to see that there were several pictures of both of us (with both bibs fully visible) that showed up in my wife's album, but not mine, and vice versa. It makes me wonder what other pictures are missing. I wish we had more power to look up and add pictures.

Definitely like Brightroom better. From what I recall they were cheaper too, at least to get all of your photos. And if you waited long enough you got an e-mail with a coupon code.

I've mostly been a lurker here but wanted to comment. My husband and I ran the Goofy together and had the same issue with our pictures. Both of our accounts had most of the same pictures, but his account had some pictures of the two of us that my account didn't have. I contaced the company and they said that as long as I was visible in the pictures, they could add them to the account. They however, would not add any that just had him in them. I used the contact us e-mail from their site and gave them my bib # and the photo id's that I wanted added to my account. It took a few days but I just checked and they did add them. Hope that helps someone.

Race certificates are available!

Now, the important question -- how can you change the picture on your customized website? The default selection is... very... very... unflattering.

Had to laugh on the 'finisher' email/link I got today- The picture posted isn't of me but my leg in the far corner but GREAT shot of some random guy..

Add me to the list of those disappointed with the pictures. My husband I both have 25 pictures each, this after going thru most of the unidentified. Most of them the same, but a few of just one of us. Five/six are a sequence at the hat, this after we were both hurting and barely moving. Guess which picture we both have on our certificate-YES, one of those! Not to mention-it's the same one! Any ideas on changing the picture to one we would prefer.

Funny, with the flu I have not been on top of things mentally. I did not realize that the photo group changed to marathonfoto. I have never liked the photos or the packaging of their products and attributed that to the RnR folks who they are attached at the hip through a partnership.

I was looking through all sorts of photos to try to find one where my DD and I were in the same frame. As an amateur photographer, I find it amazing that of the 12-13 finish line photos not one included both of us at the line. There is usually one photographer who has a wide enough lense to capture 2-3 runners in each shot. Usually, I must crop a person out of the photo to get a great shot.

Go figure.

I wish they had my leg in my photo. My photo is of a gray long-haired woman. It's a great picture of her. I have short dark hair and am a guy...not even close. I'll be looking forward to hearing from others if there is a way to request that they change the picture.
