I can't help noticing that there are very few reviews/comments on this site regarding SSR ...? We're booked in there and I'm beginning to get a bit worried!! Does anyone have experience of staying there and would like to share?

yes and every stay, 4 of them, were not good.

How is this at all helpful to the OP? If your stays were so terrible, why did you keep going back to the same resort?

There is a very helpful thread over on the DVC Resorts board, for SSR owners & lovers: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2466719

What size villa are you staying in? It is a large resort & if you have a preference you are well served by requesting a certain section.

I've stayed at Saratoga 3x and had a great time. It's very relaxing and quiet and I love that there is a spa in grounds.

We stayed there once and enjoyed it, but then again, all I really care about is having a clean, quiet, comfortable room. I spend such a small amount of time at the resort doing anything but sleeping, things like room location don't really matter to me.

We've stayed at SSR numerous times. It's a nice resort. We tend to request a room near a pool area. We rent a vehicle, so bus stops aren't much of a concern for us. My favorite area to stay in is the Grandstand nearest to the Backstretch Pool Bar.

It's a great resort. Always clean. Never any noise issues. We don't always stay here because our DVC home resort is the Beach Club...but, it's a great choice and I've always been happy with our stays.

Good point! I can't imagine going back 4 times, if I didn't enjoy it the first time. That's why we keep going back to Disney Resorts - even if little things go wrong, the overall stay is usually wonderful.

In response to the orignal post - I haven't stayed there, but everyone I know that has stayed there loved it. We were drooling over the Treehouse Villas at SSR when we past by in the boat to POR.

I NEVER wanted to stay there. Something about the horse theme just never called out to me. However, one time when I was in Florida in a room full of roaches, I called Disney in the middle of the night and they connected me with the manager of Saratoga Springs (bc he was the "on call" manager??) and he hooked us up with rooms there even though it was "sold out". (the computers had been down, so there were some miscalculations with the numbers)

Anyway, we ended up staying there for four nights. Loved the pools! Our rooms were in the last building of Congress Park, facing DTD. It was gorgeous. I would never have requested to be in the back corner, either, but if I were to go back, I would probably request it in the future! We had a car. We were driving distance from the good pools.

Love this post! I am staying there next month because it was the only resort I could get into marathon weekend. I requested Congress Park after doing some research... I'm not going down for the marathon, I'm going down for the Yankee/Braves spring training game at Wide World of Sports. I thought Congress Park would be good because I could walk to the bus in DTD because to get to Wide World of Sports I have to get to CBR or one of the Allstars and take a bus from there. I did request a room looking at DTD as well so we will see how this goes. I look at it like whatever I'm at Disney and if I don't like it I can cross it off the bucket list!!

Thanks for your post!!

SSR is wonderful resort. You are going to find waterbugs (roaches) in Florida because they thrive in warm, damp climates. They are not there because the resort is dirty. Someone probably left a patio door open or the front door open while they went to and from the car. Or there might have been a gap under the door that needed to be closed up.

If you enjoy walking around and enjoying a resort, SSR is the place. There are three themed pool areas, plus one non-themed pool. Artist's Palette is an upscale counter service, not the same hamburgers and hot dogs. You can walk to DTD or take a boat.

SSR is great! Pools are great, great food options, rooms are nice, boat to DTD, cute gift shop, ect!

Don't worry about a thing!!!! ;)

Have a great trip! :)

Many times and loved every stay. Great pools, lovely grounds, spacious rooms, many newly rehabbed.

Stayed here 4 times, and we have enjoyed it very much. We wouldn't keep going back if we hadn't had such a good experience there.

We stayed in the Treehouse Villas and loved them. The pools at SSR were really nice and had good slides (according to my teens). My little ones loved the kids play area!! I loved the boat to DTD. The quick service restaurant was smaller than a regular food court, but it was good and the CMs were very friendly. It was especially beautiful at night. Overall, we had a great time there. We will go back there again in the future. :) Enjoy your trip.

We've stayed in the main area of SSR 3 or 4 times and THV twice. Great stays each time. I love taking the boat ride to dinner in DTD. Beautiful grounds. Have fun.

I so agree that we wouldn't return if we didn't have nice stays. :confused3

kam1011, nice to hear that the SSR manager came to your rescue after your unfortunate off site stay.

we stayed at SSR last summer for 2 nights, for the first time. (we own there too.. just bought contract last spring.)

The pools were great. lots of games and entertainment
-- the bus stop was right in front of our room but we didnt use the busses. we were the first stop too.

DTD was close by as well as a bunch of other restaurants... there was grocery store near there too.

the employees at the check in were super friendly too.
