"You are borderline obsessed. I may have to cut you off." To which I respond, "This is better than facebook :wave2:" Honestly, I'm on here way more than facebook these days
:

My only advice is to run. This stuff is WDW version of crack......

We are arriving at the Beach Club (garden view) on Feb 28th....I have been to WDW several times, but this will be the first visit for my DS, DDil and DGS (13)...I am soooo excited to help create the "perfect" experience for them...our dining plans are: captains grill for breakfast 3/1...San Angel Inn for dinner, MM, R&C, Boma and Biergarten...thought that was a well "rounded" experience...I'm haunting the websites for trip planning! Hoping for a full balcony. We leave Wed 3/6 to come back home to Tulsa....am I missing anything? Got our Magical Express stuff in the mail today....missing some parts, but a quick phone call fixed that! Wish us luck! This is to celebrate my DIL's birthday AND my full retirement from being a nurse in a hospital for xxxx years!!!:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

Great plan. WOW. I can tell. You get it!

We ordered our dinners and before the food even arrived both kids DS (8) and DD (5) passed out in the booth
:)

We got more than one story where Ninja Mom passed out in a booth of a WDW Restaurant.....

I've been to Disney a bunch of times, but NEVER the Yacht Club Resort and I am SO excited!!! You guys seem like a great bunch and I'm excited to hang with you here before I go! :cloud9:

BTW, thanks for all the info on coffee- I NEED my coffee in the morning so I'm slightly concerned about these coffee pods..... But if there's "real" coffee somewhere on site, I'm going to be much happier! I'm one of those kind of crabby early morning coffee makers....

You get it. You really get it.

Thanks for menu at hurr hanna- it looks like many of the items come with cheese (chick sandwich, burgers, and even wraps) - can you request no cheese, or are they premade offsite? Thanks in advance!

We chatted with the folks at HH on opening day and were told that the sandwiches are made to order. (I am not a blue cheese fan, but was told this could be left off...)

Love this thread! I've been lurking here for awhile and recently booked our first stay at the Yacht Club, May 1-4. Just a short visit before we join family for a reunion at an offsite condo. Those will be non-park days so we can really enjoy the resort. We planned this as a special surprise for DD13 who has some health issues. The past few years have been pretty challenging for her. Staying at BC/YC has been her dream for years, and she's going to be thrilled to finally be able to enjoy Stormalong Bay!

I think we would've preferred Beach Club, but I wanted to be sure we'd get a balcony. We booked garden view. I wasn't planning on asking for anything in particular, as I imagine any garden view will be nice, but I think I'll just ask not to be on the ground floor. I prefer a balcony over a patio. DD sometimes uses a wheelchair, and it seems for that reason we are always given a ground floor room, but it's not really necessary.

Now what's this about real coffee at YC? I know DH won't want to drink Nescafe, that's not coffee, but on the other hand he doesn't like Starbucks. Can he get good old-fashioned plain coffee?

Here. This should help... (From the Dining Post on Page 1):

REAL COFFEE ALERT!!!

Ale and Compass is located just off the Yacht Club Lobby.

In the morning, breakfast items are available like a DECENT cup of coffee and tea, pastries, an assortment of cereal and fruit.

That looks like it would suit our needs for a light breakfast before hitting rope drop perfectly. However, I was wondering if we can use our refillable mugs there. DD likes her coffee and I like my tea so DH usually goes to get them for us while we're getting ready in the morning.

I believe you can use your refill mugs there, but ONLY IN THE MORNING.

I think I read that after 11 or noon, whenever the area changes over to a lounge, you can no longer get mug refills.

If you look in the picture that is posted, there are refill mugs, for sale, in the background.

BTW- I just added the REAL COFFEE ALERT post to the Other Useful Info section on Page 1.

We will be coming back to stay for our honeymoon 11/10-11/18, We got engaged when staying at the beach club on 1/1/12 so there wasn't a doubt in my mind which resort I wanted to stay at for the honeymoon.:)

:welcome: and Congratulations!!!

So glad to hear you are returning to the Beach Club for your honeymoon

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1

My sister booked her trip!!!! I am so excited for her its their first trip to disney and she is staying at the BC CL August 23-30th. I have the best of both worlds I get to take my family on vacation and my sister will be there the same time. We tried to get them a room at YC but they sold out of room at our TA. I'm still happy I can't wait to see my niece and nephew faces at they see the castle for the first time. I am considering moving my dates to match hers...... Hmmmm

Can't I just say thank you everyone for being so welcoming to all the new comers. I have been on other threads for other resorts and been afraid to post because of the ppl on the thread . This thread has the nicest group of ppl I have encountered on the dis in my opinion! - thanks everyone!

AWESOME!!!

:welcome: pamkat's sister. Even if we don't ever see her here, I'll add her to the list.

:cool1:

Right now, you are still booked for October?

We've adjusted our plans a bit. Could you change our dates to:

May 27th-June 4th

Thanks!! Can't wait to get back.:goodvibes

Got it! Will do.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone who has been to BC lately could answer a beverage question. I have not been to BC in a few years and am wondering what the hot tea selection is in the beverage center at BC Marketplace is. If anyone has a recent photo of this area, or knows which teas are regularly offered, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!

:welcome:

Do you have a trip booked or are you still in the planning stages. If you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, let us know the details.

:yay:

I've read from tripadvisor that the walls in BC is "thin as paper" and those reviewers claimed that they could be woke up by the next room's wake-up call, even flushing the toilet. Is the insulation that bad? Is YC any better?

:welcome:

Let us know if you have any other questions or if you book a trip to the resort.

:thumbsup2

Still trying to get info on deluxe club level rooms at the Yacht Club. I saw on this thread that they have a separate sitting room with daybed but when I made my reservation I was told no daybed and roll away bed wasn't allowed. Has anyone stayed in one these rooms recently? All pictures and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I finally got started on the YC Deluxe Room thread. I added the link that Teena gave last night, along with pictures from bizzemom4 of a Deluxe upgrade in June 2012, a 2BR Suite from pas130 and the Turret Suite from Brooklyn.

I'm so excited!! I scored a (very) last minute point rental for BCV for this week!! This is our first reservation since being extremely local :yay: I'm off Wednesday and Friday, so despite working Thursday morning--the deal on points was toooooooooooo good to pass up!!

Checking in Wednesday, 1/30 - Friday 2/1

Wednesday is looking like a great pool day, Thursday looks cold--but I have to work anyway, and I have dinner at Cape May Thursday night!!

Just a random, last minute, get-a-way. I've really had the resort itch lately--and I can't wait to be back at Storm-a-long Bay! This will be our first time on the BC side. We normally stay at YC, and I'm happy to try something new!!!

:welcome:

Your last minute stay sounds so very cool!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list, quickly!

:)

Can't blame you for booking YC for a balcony. May I suggest that you request "Upper Floor, Wedding Gazebo View, Please" People who have stayed at YC seem to enjoy that view.

Good morning all! I have been reading this thread- so excited about our upcoming trip ( 5/9-11 SW and Aquatica, 5/11-14 US. 5/
14-18 WDW). This visit will be myself and 2 sons ( 20 and just turned 18 ) Will be a graduation celebration.Main focus of WDW portion of trip will be WPs and HS. Will SAB appeal to guys this age? I currently have booked BC SV, but thinking of changing to YC GV ( SV not available). would appreciate your advice on which resort would be better for us , BC or YC. Here are our priorities:
Likelihood of having daybed ( neither guy thrilled about sleeping with their mom or brother) or rollaway brought in.
Location- I will be renting a car for the first time, as I've heard that is helpful when doing waterparks, so would be nice to have a room that isn't a huge hike to the parking lot. Also, their fav park is HS.
Quiet- don't mind some hustle and bustle. It seems like so many people stay at BC, won't it be more crowded and noisy than YC?
TIA for any and all opinions!

We ate at Captains Grille several times for breakfast for our Nov trip- we have done the buffet and off the menu. Let me say that we LOVE breakfast here.
We ate dinner here once, I had the New York Strip Steak, I found that the steak and mashed potatoes were VERY saltly (I couldn't eat the potatoes). Next time I will ask for NO salt.

The YC is more convenient for HS than BC is because it is a closer walk to the park, and it is a closer walk to the boat dock. I can't remember our son spending a lot of time in SAB when he was that age. But that doesn't mean your sons won't. I agree with you about wanting a day bed for your room. I would, too.

Your trip sounds fantastic!!!

As far as I know, your chances at a daybed are the same at both resorts, but I really don't know for sure. If you request one, but a room is not available, you should be able to get a rollaway cot, which I understand is pretty comfortable.

You may want to choose YC for the full balcony. At BC only about 50% of the rooms have full balconies.

My sons are younger, so I don't know yet what the appeal of Stormalong Bay will be to an 18 or 20 year old- may depend on the young adults and what they like. The slide is fun and the lazy river is nice, but certainly neither compares to what you will experience at the water parks you are visiting.

If they are the type that like to play volleyball they may enjoy getting involved with that.

Have you been to US/IoA before? My family visited "The Parks Which Shall Not Be Named" in 2011.

I think they may enjoy SAB, especially since there should be plenty of others that age celebrating graduations also! It's nice to just sit out in the sun (or in their case maybe nap) during the mid day.

YC is closer to HS boat dock.

We have stayed at both and love both .... BC does tend to have more hustle and bustle, which I like, but wouldn't hesitate to stay YC again!

enjoy your planning.

Thank you- I am definitely
enjoying the planning- to me that prolongs the fun of the trip!
I am leaning on switching to YC GV. Does anyone know about the likelihood of getting a room with daybed if I switch? Also, looking at a map and what I think is the parking lot, it looks like most YC rooms would be closer to parking than BC. Anyone know if this is correct?

Sorry - just saw your post - thanks for the info! Good to know you can request a rollaway - when I earlier checked on BWI, CM told me they weren't available there?!
We went to US one day in Dec. 2010. It was crazy crowded, but we all loved it and are looking forward to going back at what should be a far less crowded time. Are staying at HRH for that portion of trip- which I'm hoping will be right up,their alley!

Also both boys are competitive swimmers- sometimes the last thing they want to do on vacation is swim, but thinking SAB seems more like a WP so they may actually want to go to that pool, a somewhat regular pool they probably wouldn't bother with :)
