Howdy! FW Cabin FAQ Thread!!

Thank you for all the great info. We leave in four days for our first stay at FW.

Has anyone flown in to Sanford instead of MCO? I have never flown into that airport before so I am a little nervous about that. It is supposed to only be a 45-60min drive to FW. Our plane arrives at 3pm and we have 630pm reservations at Chef Mickey's. I'm worried we may be cutting it a little close.

So, no towels at the pool? Should I pack some swim towels or are towels in the cabins sufficient, in your opinion?

We have a rental car and reservations for a golf cart. I keep going back and forth on the golf cart. I think that it may be fun and convenient but can't we just use the rental car for everything?

Is there a Walmart or Target nearby where we can get some groceries? I don't want to spend a lot of my vacation driving/shopping so I've also thought about possibly having groceries delivered. I was also wondering if it is still possible to get a case of water delivered from Costco/Staples. Has anyone done that recently?

For anyone who has been there recently...is there WIFI? Is there still a $10 daily charge? Anyone know of a good place to get free internet that is closeby? McD? Starbucks?

Does anyone know of a good spot on or off property to get Disney Crocs?

Any other tips for a family of four including a 4 year old and a 9 year old? Would it be worth it to request a certain area? We would not mind being near the pool/laundry/food. Should I bring stuff to decorate cabin?

Sorry for all the questions. I know this forum is full of great info. I just wish I had time to read it all.

I have a question about WIFI also, anyone know if the cabins have it? The WDW site says complementary internet so I am wondering? Can I request a loop? Do I do this when booking?

I know a golf cart is continent but is it needed if you have a car with the buses?

We are planning to be there December 8-16, so trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks

we just stayed for first time at FW cabins this weekend. i highly recommend a golf cart. even within the street you are staying on the walk to the bus stop can be a bit far depending on your proximity to the stop. zipping around and parking with the golf carts is extremely convenient.

I spoke with Disney today and got some answers. They told me that there is WIFI all over and it is free. There are also towels at the pools. We also canceled the golf cart. We are going to request a cabin near a bus stop. We also will have our rental car. It would be fun and convenient but just not worth the price to us. Good luck. I'm still looking for some answers and I leave in 2.5 days!!

There were no towels or life jackets at the pool July 1st. It may have changed in the last few months but I would suggest bringing at least one towel "just in case." we were unprepared for no towels and had planned to go straight to Hoop-de-doo from the pool. We were the classy family using paper towels to fry off in the bathroom!!M

We loved having the golf cart. I can't imagine waiting for/riding internal buses back to the Cabins when you're dripping wet after a swim. I'm sure many people do it but we liked hopping into the golf cart and zipping home.
For just the parks driving is fine. Unless you plan to take the boat to MK and then you'd need to take an internal bus to the dock.
It comes down to time/convenience vs. money. We were only in a Cabin for 3 days but loved the resort. The golf cart made things easier. Obviously it's a huge added cost.

There is a Target with grocery section on Rt 193 west of Disney property, just follow signs inside property and go to 192 west. It's about 2 miles down on the left.

If we do not have a rental car how do we get our luggage up to the front of the resort for checkout. Do they have someone who can come transfer it up for or do we have to lug it?

Upon checking in do they have an area like the hotels to hold any carryon luggage prior to the cabin being ready?

I have stayed in a cabin (and Home) many times, just always had a car.

Can you fit a rollaway bed in as well?

Between the Murphy bed in the living room and the bedroom being packed witha a double and Bunckbeds, I am not sure one would be required or allowed. The only place other than areas that already have a bed that it may fit is the Kitchen.

Can anyone give me a rough idea how big the bunk beds are in the cabins? We're considering staying there and it will be me, DW and DS(18). I don't think DW and I would be comfortable in a double bed (we've slept in a king bed for the past 20+ years) and DS is a little over 6 feet tall. So, we would have to use the Murphy bed, the bed in the bedroom and one bunk.

Thanks.

I don't know the dimensions, but I think they are typicall twin width and the same length as the double. not very informative, but I hope it helps

We are taking our first visit to the cabins in May.:cool1: Any tips or suggestions will be great! Where do we need to request to stay?

Hi! Wondering if anyone on here ever brings their own golf cart? We usually stay at the cabins and in the past we have rented from the fort and our last trip we rented from Kenny. This year DH bought a golf cart and we are thinking about driving down with it. Does anyone know if:

1. You can bring your own cart, and can it be a gas cart?
2. Are you allowed to park the trailer in front of the cabin?

We always park our minivan in front of the cabin but wondering if the trailer is ok? Thanks for any info you may have! :yay:

We just returned from a 5 night stay in the cabins at FW. We had my parents on the murphy bed, hubby and I in the bedroom (double) and kids on the bunks. We were in cabin 2711, which was great. We were very close to a bus stop, which made getting around very easy. We saw them take luggage (and people) up to the front in vans to catch the Magical Express. We had wi-fi in the cabin, which was nice. Overall, we had a great stay.

:welcome: to the DIS! Thanks for posting about your stay. Was your cabin clean and everything in working order? We are staying for the first in a cabin in March:goodvibes

1. Last I heard, the golf cart could be gas.
2. If you think you can fit your vehicle, golf cart & trailer all on the small paved parking space for your cabin, then yes. I know that I would not have space for the trailer in most of the cabin parking spaces I have stayed at with my SUV or Van and golf cart. FW does have an overflow lot that campers can use for trailers, I would think you could leave the trailer there.

Super excited - we arrive on Friday for our first time staying at FW (in the cabins!!!). I tried calling FW directly to see if I could put in a room request (only 4 days out) but she just transferred me to the reservation line and said they don't assign rooms until day of :( Oh well I'm sure everything will work out! We are not renting a golf cart and have a 1yr old with stroller so hoping to be close to transportation ;)
