So, in Nov 2011, my family and I stayed at POP and paid for a preferred room.
We were in room 4552. Looking at the map it looks like that is not a preferred room. I was very happy with our room location, but did I pay for a preferred room and not get it? None of this would matter except that I am planning our next stay at POP for Sept this year. I am thinking I will request lakeview building 4 or 5 and save the money so we can go to MNSSHP! What do you think?

I think you're right, 4552 is not Preferred.

Thanks EpcotBill. I wish I would have been on The Dis back then, I would have asked to have the money refunded for that. We wouldn't have wanted a different room though! Nice and quiet, and close to the main building.

I agree with this idea. I always recommend reserving standard at Pop. You can still get a good room location without paying extra for it.

Does anybody have a link or a picture of the grab n go section at Pop I know I saw one once and have done multiple searches to no avail, can anyone help? I am looking for recent to see what they currently have with prices fr the perpetual planning I do :rotfl2: TYIA :worship: to anyone that can help! One of these trips I will start taking pix of food!

This is from July 2012 - Josh's easywdw report on Pop's main building and food court:

After reading all the poor reviews of Pop on this board, I was stressing about booking a value resort in the first place for my trip last week. I grew up in a DVC family and have only ever stayed at our home resort of Old Key West.

When we arrived early, the front desk was happy to find us attached rooms that were ready and available for early check-in without even having to ask. It took a few extra minutes at check-in but they were so helpful. In fact, all the staff members we encountered were great!

We booked a standard room and ended up on the 2nd floor of the green 70's building close to the big wheel. I thought this was a great location and enjoyed a pretty short walk to the main building and bus stops.

Yes, the rooms were a bit dated and used but THEY WERE CLEAN! I mean, really, what do you expect for the lower prices.. the Ritz? I was so nervous that we were going to be miserable but it was quite the opposite. We received a spotless pack 'n play for my daughter along with plenty of clean sheets. Mousekeeping kept everything picked up and changed our linens often bringing plenty of extra towels.

We had an overall GREAT experience.

Don't let all the negative reviews stress you out if you haven't been to POP before. It's definitely not the fanciest place in WDW but, in my experience, it was clean and livable for a week.

Have fun!

Decided not to bother requesting the king bed. I would be a little disappointed if I got an accessible room with no tub. I like baths. Husband's comment was that he didn't care. He would sleep in a storage room as long as it had a roof and was at Disney! We can sleep in our own beds like June and Ward Cleaver....

Down to 7 days and some hours... We go inspect the kennel tomorrow to see if it will suit the dawg. I suspect it will. He is an enthusiastic sort of dawg; he likes everything except cats and thunder, which terrify him.

Have a great time at POP! Just a suggestion, when you check in, ask if the room is a KING room, and if not, see if one if available that is no HA. Can't hurt. :goodvibes

As I mentioned, we had two portable airconditioners and we'll have a cooler bag filled with frozen waters. Who knows, maybe this year things will change and there will be more SWW in the airconditioning?

And, maybe cooler temps?? and/or less humidity?? One can always hope. :)

Good luck to you, and hope you all have a blast! :cool1:

Who else is staying at POP on or around May 15-22? There's a couple others over on the SWW thread. Looking to see if anyone wants to do a meetup at all?

Wish I could say we were going! usually there are several other May-ers. Perhaps others will chime in. :goodvibes

I don't know if this had been posted previously, but I just arrived at Pop for a fun solo weekend and there are RFID card readers on the room doors now!

:yay: thanks for letting us know. :)

stitchTB ... Are you sure you are remembering your room number correctly? The second digit represents the floor (Pop does not have a 5th floor as you know:)). ...if it was 4452, no it was not preferred. Were you facing the lake and in the playdoh bldg? If you were in 5452 (baloo bldg), then the room is preferred (facing the ourtyard between 60s and 70s). :goodvibes

Just didn't want you to be bummed out if you really did get what you paid for. :)

Hmm, Ya know, I didn't even look at the floor. I just knew that building 4, room 52 is preferred. Maybe stitchTB did mix up some numbers.

I had to read it twice before it hit me! :goodvibes

Hopefully she did get a preferred room - it's never a nice feelilng when you realize after the fact that you were not given something that you paid for. :)

Don't I feel sheepish:blush: I looked up my room # again and it was 4225. Definitely got a preferred room. So sorry for the mix up. I still think I'll go for the standard room this time around. MNSSHP here we come! Now back to my regularly scheduled lurking!

How deep are the pools? In particular, the main pool? In the pictures it almost looks like a kiddie pool, really shallow..

At the deepest point they are deeper than four feet but less than five feet. I can't remember the exact numbers I read on the side of the pool. HTH

Here now, arrived last night. I'm in the 70's bldg. 1. I like the location, but the
tour group kids were hanging out by the end of the bldg. socializing at 3am! Had to get up to put earplugs in and that took care of the issue. ;)
Didn't eat at the food court yet, but the options look very good.
I'm really enjoying the Pop, and will be booking again for May. :)

Is it a sports tour group, a large group from teh US, another country, etc?

My wife said the Pop is saying they are pretty much almost sold out?

There were some college cheer/dance groups at WDW over MLK weekend but they are gone. They were great ... not sure what resorts they were at. The groups that I have been seeing all month are foreign .... appear to be mostly from Central or South America. Some groups seem to be families and others are all teenagers. Haven't had any problems. :)
