Did we survive 11 days of DxDP? Upd 3/24 California Grill

Enjoying your pics and review so far!:goodvibes

A question if you can answer without wasting too much of your time-how do you post the links to your later posts right in the title? I know how to insert the http address, but don't know how to get that right into the title versus just alongside it...any suggestions are appreciated! :confused3

Type what you want to be the link text. Highlight it and the click the link button. Paste the link to the post in that box, and it will make the txt the link.

Your kids are so cute and I am soooo loving your food reviews and the pictures. Everything looks yummy. We are going in October, 4 of us and we have the DxDP also. I can hardly wait.

Oh, and I subscribed :thumbsup2

Welcome

Thank you and thank you ;) We had such a great time...lots of food to try!

We will be there for a short trip in Oct too :)

Subbing!! Great choices-- can't wait to read the rest!!

Welcome  Another update coming shortly.

Hello, welcome!

Here is the way I was shown to do it, although I have heard there is another way too --
Before your http address type
Then type in what you want to do for the title
Followed by [/type the word url]

It seems like a lot because of how I wrote out the instructions, but its simple. Had to be careful in how I wrote it out the last step or else it would link the title and you wouldnt see the instructions ;) Dont actually put "type the word" ;)

That should do it!

Type what you want to be the link text. Highlight it and the click the link button. Paste the link to the post in that box, and it will make the txt the link.

Ah-ha...there is the other way! :thumbsup2 I was taught a different way.

Reallying enjoying your reviews and pics. :)
I'll have to try doing one of these after my 7 day trip in March.

On December 21, we had a 1230pm ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern.

We were strolling through Frontierland, headed towards Liberty Square and decided to stop by about noon to see if we could go ahead and check in. We were told we would have to wait a few minutes, but they could seat us shortly.

About 1215pm we were called to our table -- where they left us with about 10 coloring pages and probably 50 crayons (no kidding!!) We waited for our waiter...and waited...and waited. (Now we are glad we have all the coloring pages and crayons!!) Finally about 10 minutes later our waiter, Ed approached our table. He seemed very flustered (yet the section wasnt very busy...3 other tables besides ours -- a couple, a family of 4 and a group of 10 or so) and took our drink order. We had already decided on what we wanted to eat since we had time to look over the menu, and the little boys were asking for food, so Bo asked if we could go ahead and place our appetizer order. Ed seemed put off by this :confused3, but went ahead and took our appetizer and entree orders.

I  the glasses here -- I need to remember to buy one sometime!

Bo & I shared Crab and Spinach Dip for Two Blue Crab, Spinach and Cream Cheese with Warm Flatbread. This was pretty good, however I do wish there were a few more pieces of flatbread. There was a lot of dip leftover to eat with just the breadbowl.

DSCN0577.jpg

Hunter ordered Declaration salad Field Greens tossed in your choice of our Tavern-made Dressing or Garlic-Buttermilk Dressing. He did not care for the dressing at all -- and there was a LOT of the dressing on there. Needless to say, he did not eat much of this salad.

DSCN0579.jpg

Harper ordered Tavern Fried Cheese with Marinara Sauce. She loves cheese sticks and had no complaints about these. There were 4 on the plate, but she ate 1 before I got the picture :rolleyes2

DSCN0578.jpg

The little boys had apple slices for their appetizer.

For our entrees, I ordered The Liberty Boys BLT Slow-roasted Pork, fresh Greens and Tomatoes on House-made Bread with Caramelized Shallots and Mushroom-Mayonnaise Spread. Ok, honestly, I thought the meat was salty and a bit fatty. I did enjoy the bread. I ordered the fresh fruit as my side. Bo also tried a bite of my sandwich and agreed the meat was quite fatty and salty.

LTT.jpg

Bo ordered New England Pot Roast - Our Tavern Keeper's Favorite Braised Beef in a Cabernet Wine and Mushroom Sauce served with Mashed Potatoes and Garden Vegetables. He thought it was "meh" -- not the best thing he has ever had, but not awful.

DSCN0581.jpg

Hunter ordered Vegetarian Burger House-made Potato Quinoa Vegan Patty topped with a fresh Vegan Tofu-Tzatziki sauce with fresh Fruit or Sweet Potato Fries. I dont know what in the world made him order this to be completely honest :confused3, but he said he wanted to try something very different that day. He said the bread was very tough. The patty was very dry and almost the texture of very dry, leftover mashed potatoes. He didnt care for the sauce. He ordered the fresh fruit as his side. Needless to say, he only at the fruit and the lettuce and tomato.

DSCN0584.jpg

Harper ordered Pilgrims' Feast Traditional Roast Turkey served with Herb Bread Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes and a Garden Vegetable. She said the turkey was dry (Bo tried it...it was indeed dry -- even with the gravy). The mashed potatoes tasted like they had been prepared a while. She had a few bites of the dressing, but said it wasnt as good as mine  and she is not a huge green bean fan. So...overall, she was not happy with the food today.

DSCN0582.jpg

The little boys each had mac-n-cheese. They ate about half of it.

DSCN0583.jpg

We never saw Ed through the entire meal after our food was delivered :rolleyes2. There was another large party seated near us who were complaining about where the waiter was -- I guess Ed was just not having a great day. He finally came by and asked if we were having dessert. You might think he would ask how the food was considering my plate was almost untouched...Hunter's plate was almost untouched...and Harper's plate was almost untouched, but he did not. We went ahead and ordered dessert (hoping something good would come of the meal), but we really wanted to just be done with this place today.

Bo, Hunter & I all ordered Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake Vanilla Cake with a Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. Thank goodness for small favors that this was delicious!

DSCN0585.jpg

Harper ordered Martha Washington's Cake. A slice of rich Chocolate Cake, layered with a liberating Chocolate Icing. She enjoyed this - and it was a big slice!

DSCN0586.jpg

The little boys were starting to get tired, so we just ordered them apple slices to go, so Ed brought them out in a bowl and gave us cups to put them in.

Ed offered us to-go refills on all our drinks, so Bo & I took him up on that and got some more Pomegranite Lemonade, Hunter & Harper got some more Root Beer and he brought out 2 apple juices for the boys.

Our bill before the automatic 18% gratuity was $151.80 - 6TS credits used

Overall, we were very disappointed in LTT on this particular day. We had eaten here 1 other time before and quite enjoyed our meal, but on this day, everything was just "off".

That's so disappointing about LTT.....there's nothing worse than starting your experience with an absentee / put off server. That happened to us at Sci- fi and it went form bad to worse.

I have to admit, I'm rethinking LTT now after reading your review.....for "meh", its a lot of money to spend on a meal..... I'm so glad you posted this.

Hmmm, I'm rethinking LTT as well. We've never eaten here, but liked that it was in MK. I'm not sire now though, I hate to waste more park time to leave for a meal though so we may just brave it.

Our experience at LTT was ok also. The restaurant was a little dirty, but the service was wonderful (and so was the ooey gooey toffee cake). We were disappointed with the crab dip, but it looks like they changed the recipe at least. Ours was a bizarre grayish orange color and didn't taste good at all. It looks as though the recipe and the presentation have changed, which doesn't sound like a bad thing. Too bad about the veggie burger; I hope it doesn't curb your child's enthusiasm about all veggie burgers! Most are quite good I've found. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much to all for the help posting the links! Your advice worked beautifully.:cheer2:

So sorry you had a disappointing experience at LTT. It certainly sounds like not only your server, but the kitchen was having a bad day. We've been very lucky with each of our visits, my husband had the Pilgrim's Feast in October and declared it his favourite meal of the trip. I'm glad dessert saved things a little for your family, that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is decadent!

Bummer about LTT. Kinda makes me glad we ended up canceling our ressie there well before our trip. Desserts looked great though!

I'm sorry you had a poor experience at LTT. It's amazing how much a poor or disinterested server can impact your meal.

I hope you give this place another try - it was one of our favorite lunches on our last trip! Just double-check and make sure you don't have the same server next time. ;)

I want to go to LTT just for the cake... The rest of the menu doesn't really appeal to me but that cake.... It looks so horribly wonderful!

We enjoyed LTT in the past (we had been there 1 other time), so we were just amazed at the difference between the 2 visits. LTT is definately out of rotation for our Oct trip, but I'm willing to give it a try again.

Definately give it a try. We have been there 1 other time and enjoyed it. I hope it was just an "off" day and the quality of the restraunt is not taking a downfall.

EEEK...grayish orange crab dip?? :scared1:

We were definately happy that the desserts were having a stellar day and were amazing -- so we at least ended on a high note.

Glad the advice posting links worked :thumbsup2

Definately a bad day at LTT!! I wont kick LTT off the list forever, but its out of rotation for our next trip. The Ooey Gooey Toffee cake is DIVINE!!!!!

Yes, it was not a great meal -- not the worst of the trip as you will find out later though ;) Thankfully the desserts saved the day!

We will definately give LTT another try. Its definately out for our Oct trip since we will focus on F&W mostly, but perhaps next year we will give it a try again. I will need that Ooey Gooey Toffee cake again by that time!!

I want to go to LTT just for the cake... The rest of the menu doesn't really appeal to me but that cake.... It looks so horribly wonderful!

Go for dessert!! :hyper:

On the evening of December 21, we had a 730pm ADR for Chef Mickey.

We had to be out of MK by 7pm as the last MVMCP of the year was taking place that night. Bo wanted to just ride the monorail over instead of walking.

We arrived at CR just a few minutes after 7pm, and after checking out the holiday decorations, we went and checked in about 720pm. They handed us our buzzer and sent us over for our picture. Afterwards, we went to sit down and just a few moments later our buzzer was going off. We were seated about 745pm.

Our waitress came by and took our drink orders and told us to hold off since Minnie was only 2 tables away. After Minnie we had a few minutes before the next round of characters would be by.

I helped Jaxon get his plate and there was a line of people, so I apologize that again, I do not have buffet pictures.

My plate was NOT very exciting -- I warn you now!! There was not a whole lot that sounded good (until I got to the dessert area ;))

My plate consisted of...BBQ chicken, carrots, parmesean mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets and a roll. I was so ashamed of my plate (and quickly inundated by characters) that I did not get a picture of my exciting plate until after I had already eaten some. Apologies!!

The BBQ chicken was just ok - a bit dry in my opinion. The mashed potatoes were good. The macaroni and cheese was fine. The carrots were fine. The chicken nuggets were fine. The roll was ok.

I see you all rushing out to book ADRs right now with my stellar review :lmao:

No, I wasnt expecting much with this meal. We were doing it for the kids. They had a great time and thats all that mattered.

DSCN0745.jpg

Thankfully the desserts were good!! :thumbsup2

My dessert plate Oreo "mouse", carrot cake, banana cream pie, bread pudding. I didnt care for the Oreo "mouse" (but I am wishy-washy on chocolate), but I did enjoy the carrot cake, banana cream pie and bread pudding.

DSCN0748.jpg

Bo's dessert plates Oreo "mouse", banana cream pie & I cant remember (and didnt write down what that other one was) & then a plate of bread pudding.

I dont have the receipt for this meal, so I cant provide an accurate total. 6 TS credits used.

Would we return?? For the characters, yes. For the food, well...I guess as long as my kids request this meal we will have to find something here to eat. I think we may try breakfast next time though.

Since this review was lacking much substance, I will do another review tonight, which will be Kona.

I have to say, we ate at Chef Mickeys for breakfast and my review would sound like yours, except for the desserts that don't exist at breakfast. We had great character interaction and a wonderful server, however a lot of the food was sub par!

By the way, I'm so stoked for Kona Cafe as that's on my list of possibilities for our summer trip this year!

Oh goodness, I was hoping CM bkfst might be better :rolleyes2

Kona breakfast is great -- highly recommended! That review is coming up right now!! :thumbsup2

On Saturday Dec 22, we had a 905am ADR at Kona.

We arrived right at 905am :scared1: and had to wait a few minutes before we were seated.

We were shown to our table, and Chris was our waiter. He came by right away and told us he would be with us shortly (the place was PACKED!!).

Chris came back a few minutes later and took our drink orders. Hunter and I ordered Lilikoi juice, Bo ordered Kona press pot (OOP), Harper, Jaxon & Evan all had chocolate milk.

For our entrees, Hunter & I both ordered Tonga Toast - banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. We both ordered ours with ham. I only use a small portion of the strawberry compote to avoid it being too sweet.

SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! Breakfast perfection on a plate!!

DSCN0831.jpg

Bo ordered Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes - with macadamia nut butter, pineapple sauce and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. He ordered this with a side of ham also. He gave this a big :thumbsup2 -- I agree it is good, but I dont think I could ever stray from Tonga Toast.

DSCN0835.jpg

Harper ordered French Toast - with choice of ham, bacon or sausage. She ordered this with sausage. She ate quite a bit of this.

DSCN0832.jpg

Jaxon had Mickey Pancakes - buttermilk pancakes shaped like you-know-who. We ordered fresh fruit for his side. This was a lot of food for a 4 year old, so he ate the 2 small pancakes and a few bites of of the big pancake and most of the fruit.

DSCN0834.jpg

Evan had Minnie's French Toast - rolled in cinnamon sugar. We ordered the side of fresh fruit for him as well. He ate 1 1/2 pieces of the french toast and most of the fruit.

DSCN0833.jpg

Kona Press Pot (be sure to get a to-go cup if you dont finish!! :thumbsup2). I dont drink coffee, so this was all for Bo. Again, this was paid for OOP.

DSCN0829.jpg

Total for the meal (not including the Kona Press Pot) before the automatic 18% gratuity was $74.99. 6 TS credits used.

Kona is delicious! Probably my favorite breakfast ::yes::

I am so excited for breakfast at Kona and the French Press Pot. I would love to try the Tonga toast, except I HATE bananas, so I am guessing it will be the pineapple pancakes for me :)
