That is so cool! CONGRATULATIONS!!!   :welcome:

Please don't be intimidated by the latest kerfluffle. Feel free to ask us any questions as we would love to help. The full moon is out and it tends to bring on the... um, ?flufflels?? ? Mother Fluffels??

That goes for you lurkers :magnify: out there too! I know you're out there, reading and storing knowledge about the resort like a squirrel stores nuts! :squirrel: You be sure and ask your questions as well. Come back! We won't bite!

You are hilarious...love it.:thumbsup2

Oh, you are such a great group! Thank you so much for all the congrat's! We had a terrible two years in and out of court. This is truly a blessing!

I spent years as a moderator for a very large group and it was not fun! Trust me I get it!

I edited my thread to add the link for the contest.. I hope everyone trys it!

And really, thanks again!

Thanks for the response! I'll call DVC tomorrow and put a request in and then wait and see what I get! July seems sooooo far away.... good thing I'll be there next month... not at BCV, but at Saratoga Springs (never stayed there before) it's the year of Disney trips for me!!

~Nannette

I'm always amused when someone says they are staying at Saratoga Springs, it's based off the city we live in! We visited it when we were down last, it was very "old" world Saratoga, not that we aren't still beautiful!

I love this thread.

We have 207 days left to go and are staying at the Beach Club for the first time.

Kids can not wait to get into SAB.:cool1:

And I am not likely to get back this year. Turns out that I damaged my TI band (or some such thing) in my left leg, and I'm in physio, which has blown up my plans for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler in September. Plus we found out that the Jays are playing the Yankees in Toronto ON my son's 11th birthday at the end of August, and we are doing a surprise trip. I HATE that I can't use my 35% PIN for my beloved BC... But who knows, maybe something last minute... :(

So sorry to hear about your leg! You had been working so hard towards your goal of returning to the Beach Club to run the ToT!

Your welcome 1971! My responses to your responses will now be in PURPLE!

Thanks Ninja Mom - my replies and further questions in GREEN.

Background Info: DD6 is a good swimmer and last week during swim lessons did the whole length of the pool without a floatie. However, even with continuous swim lessons we as always need to keep a good eye on her. I am still bringing her floatie because we are not permitting her in deep water without the floatie and a close eye OR her without a floatie and DH or I with her.

1. Does anyone else have some good spots by SB where I can keep an eye on DD6, but it's not that noisy? The sandy space is to "little kid" for her.

I'd recommend the spot right in front of the back of Hurricane Hannah's, which is where they sell the pool toys, rent rafts and rent lockers. This is right at that area where they play volleyball. On the map you will see a large pool area behind Hurricane Hannah's. The other front side of HH's is the seating area and walkway by the lake.

While at the hotel pool, you will see an area with an overhead line covered with pool noodles. There is alot of seating, the water is elementary school age friendly as far as the depths are concerned and I'm pretty darn sure they have life vests somewhere at the pool that she can use. This area is also perfect for her because it's where they traditionally play the pool games in the afternoon and that attracts a lot of kids her age to that area, so hopefully she can find a friend to play with.

Thanks Ninja Mom - I will try.

2. I know she will love the pool slide, but how noisy is it over by this section?

I'm not sure about the little pirate slide area but the area where the big slide dumps out is not too noisy because the kids using the slide are too busy high tailing it out of that area to get back to the slide line.

Unfortunately, my DD6 likes to keep up with her DSis16 and DBro13 so she will be going down the big pool slide. (She's been going down the Poly slide since she was 2 - my little adventurer.) I am wondering how the area is surrounding where the big pool slide ends, anyone?

To me, that area was nice and leafy, not too crowded or large of an area and, depending on the time of day, it had seating in the sun, or in the back, in the shade (a little shade). I think you and her will be fine in that area. The sight lines to the water are good and although it is right near an entrance to the pool (it's hidden around a leafy corner so you can't see it) it's not one of the main entrances like the ones near the hotel. It's not noisy at all in that area but I will say when they start the games in the afternoon the speakers are going to be heard in many areas of Storm Along Bay.

The Yacht Club and the Beach Club also have quiet pools. That means there is what ever noise the guests make. There is no music piped in or organized games conducted by the hotel.

At times, I've seen (other) people make out these hotel pools to be a hive of noise and raucous activity. The nice thing about staying at a deluxe hotel is that there are lots of areas where you can go to relax and get off the beaten paths. The YC/BC has 4 pool areas that guests can use, all with different levels of activity and noise, depending on the location and activity schedule. People, if they are patient and reasonable, are bound to find something to their liking at this wonderful resort.

3. For anyone who has gone in June, how crowded will the pool be (scale 1 - 10; 10 being insane)?

Have not gone in June so I can't help you there!

I'll keep trying, but basically the worst case scenario would work as well when the hotel is at or almost at capacity. How busy has anyone seen it?

I seem to remember from reading this thread that the crazy times are the 4 weeks in July and the first two in August. I think you could say that about all the resorts in the Orlando area so it's not really a BC/YC thing. It's a more like that's when EVERYBODY is on vacation and things are maxed out.

4. With the chance of My Disney Experience being in place by our June trip has anyone heard if the bracelet will work for admission into SB or will we have to wear two bracelets?

We have not heard yet about how the bracelets will effect Storm Along Bay. Many of us are asking this question but no information is forthcoming as of yet. Stay tuned for further details.

Thanks . I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything that I might have missed.

~NM

We are running out of colors, but I will use BLUE for my reply.

According to the time stamp on these pictures, they were taken around 2-3 PM on a day in July. Looks like there is some elbow room. I have a few other pictures I looked at showing this area near the waterfall without many people, but that was from 5-6 PM.

I think these pictures are of the pool in front of where Beaches & Cream or the YC walkway is, but not positive.

I find that I really enjoy planning the vacation! So last year I made a whole binder with the plastic page protectors & plastic half folders. I filled it with all my Disney confirmations, my restaurant reservations w/ the menus so I could look it over each night before, The EMH schedule, our park plan for each day (just which park we were going to, I don't plan out what we do at park other than dining), I kept maps, etc. Our drive down from OH I kept going through it, drove DH nuts but he really reaped the rewards of all my planning! I also kept receipts in it to help plan for next time. ::yes::

:welcome:

Doesn't look like you have an imminent trip according to your signature, but if I am wrong and you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, please let us know.

::goodvibes

I am thinking of booking a room at beach club for October. I was thinking I would request a first floor room. I have seen some mention that they don't like first floor. What are your reasons? I need something close to the mug refill. I will be only 6 months out from major ankle surgery.(minimum year recovery--been there and done that on the other ankle) I need to save any steps I can.

:welcome:

Let us know when you have booked.

I can think of three reason people may want to avoid the first floor

1) As others have mentioned, very slight possibility of critters
2) Rooms VERY near the lobby (don't even know if there are any) may experience a few extra folks walking by, maybe using the secret entrance/exit
3) This is the big one for me- I enjoy using a balcony and I don't think I would care for the exposure from a first floor patio.

It sounds like you need to determine if the accessibility of the lobby outweighs some of these issues.

:cool1:

My mom's dream is to stay at the Beach Club. I'm planning to rent points for our 2014 vacation and stay 3 nights at the end of our trip. We have not set any dates yet, but are thinking early May or early September.

Is Beach Club one of the DVC resorts that must be booked 11 months in advance?

Thanks for any help.

:welcome:

How nice of you to try to make your mom's dream come true. If we can help you out along the way, please let us know!

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the villas, but others here do.

:banana::banana::banana:

I just booked a deluxe club level room at the Yacht for my trip in June. I saw on this thread that there is a daybed in the sitting area but when I called to make the reservation, I was told there isn't a day bed just 2 chairs and only 1tv in the bedroom. I was also told that the Yacht club doesn't have roll away beds. Can anyone tell me if this is all true?

I think I welcomed you a few pages back, but just in case I am wrong:

:welcome:

As I mentioned, I am trying to get info on YC Deluxe, so far there isn't much there that I have found.

Yacht Club DOES have rollaway cots. I don't see why you couldn't get one for a Deluxe Room, unless it would increase the occupancy in the room beyond the legal limit.

Do all the BCV rooms have full balconies?

We are staying in a 2-bedroom. Thanks!!

:welcome:

Not sure if I have you on the Be Our Guest list or not. When is your trip?

Hi all, I just wanted to stop in and thank all the posters on this thread. I've read the entire thread at least 4 times.

Its a great read when the blues set in. Everyone seems so kind and funny and just really helpful. Thank you truly!

The Beach Club is my dream resort! A few years back we downscaled our lives so the Beach Club has not been in reach, that's okay! I've stopped by every time we've been at Disney.

Sometimes just to walk around and just take it all in.

Earlier this month I found out I won one of the Disney Time sweepstakes... I swear the first words out of my mouth were "Can we stay at the Beach Club?" LOL!

I'll have to wait until next month when Disney contacts me to plan the trip. I'm most excited about the possibility of staying at the Beach Club. (Early June.. we hope!)

Anyways, I'm going off topic- I really wanted to say thank you and I hope to be back to plan our trip with all you super nice people!

Edit to add the link:http://disneytimesweeps.com/

There's a few more days left! Dont forget to enter!!!

:woohoo:

That is fantastic!!!

So glad that you are planning to use your pixiedust: at the place we love so much!

And thanks for the reminder- I usually enter first thing in the morning, but I haven't done it yet, so I am headed there now.

I will reply in Orange

This is the area where they play the games so that's why people are hanging out there. Just by looking at this picture my "Spidey Sense" is telling me that a large game of Marco Polo has just broken up due to all of the 'fish out of water" on the pool deck ;)

Also, in the back of the picture is the area where the giant pool slide ends. That far umbrella in the center is where the lifeguard who watches the slide area is stationed.

Gantu:

Congrats!!! I wondered if anyone of the Dis members were goign to win one of those.

You will love planning a trip to BC/YC, except that the trip always ends up with ".......when can we start planning our next trip to BC/YC" :rotfl2:

Have fun

Can anyone tell me what kind of coffee maker they have in the standard rooms at YC?

:welcome:

Do you have a trip booked or are you still in the planning stages??

Yes, I can answer your question (which was, in fact, MY very first question here on this forum)

The answer is Cuisinart Pod Machine

From the Other Useful Information Section on Page 1:

What kind of coffeemakers are in the resort rooms?

As of October 2011, the drip coffee makers in the BC and YC resort rooms were replaced.

The regular resort rooms and club level rooms (including Deluxe Rooms) now have the Cuisinart Double Pod Machines:

Thanks for the photos Rorey, Cinderumbrella and MickeyT!

Here is what I believe are in the rooms currently. Anyone who has been there more recently, please correct this info if it is wrong:

All regular (non-club level) rooms: Cuisinart Pods

All standard club level rooms, all views (standard meaning non-suite), including Deluxe Club Level Rooms: Cuisinart Pods

Suites (1 BR, 2 BR, VP, Presidential Suites): Keurig K-cup

Beach Club Villas- Mr. Coffee-type makers (4 cup for studio, 10 cup for 1BR, 2BR)

I think this applies to both BC and YC- again, let me know if I am wrong!

Thanks. Yes, we're booked for August.

Question: If the BC/YC is completely booked up, how busy is it at the resort? In the concierge lounge? I'm assuming that Disney amps up their service to make sure guests are taken care of.

I'm booked 8/31 through 9/7. I believe the resort is fully booked the Labor Day weekend only. Will it be ok?

I love Saratoga Springs, NY!! My husband was stationed there when he was in the Navy and I spent a summer there with him before we were married!! I have such fond memories!!! Laid on the ground across from SPAC one night after a Melissa Ethridge concert looking up at all the stars!!!
