Concierge/Club Level Information- Part IV, July 2012

We are headed back to the world this October and are entertaining the idea of Club Level. Thank goodness I found this thread!!! Now to decide where to stay...So many great choices!!

I am trying to decide whether to book a club level room at AKL or an Arusha view. We have book Arusha view in the past. The reason we stay at AKL is for the animals. I don't want to give up a great view close to the animals. Any thoughts? Are there club level rooms with better views than others that we could request?

Has anyone stayed in the garden view club level at the Poly? How good or bad are those views? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hated it. They stuck us on the ground floor. While it was nice to see some ducks come waddling past it was also not pleasant to watch out and see all of the carts moving trash about.

Our place arrived 6 hours late so it was all they had left.

I don't have any pics of the AKL food offerings (I was embarrassed to take them) but we just came back Thursday. In the am they had 3 cold cereals (raisin bran, fruit loops, and rice crispy), 2 hot cereals (oatmeal and quinoa) with flax seed, fresh made granola and brown sugar available, BEAUTIFUL fresh fruit (berries, pineapple, melon, pineapple, papaya) croissants (I ate my weight in them), cinnamon buns, yogurt, muffins, coffee, tea, juice, and mimosas!!!!
Evening snacks varied but always included fresh made hummus, pita squares, bread, 3-4 cheeses, veggies, olives, 2 hot apps and 1 cold app. Plus a kids table w/ apple slices, baby carrots, ham n cheese roll ups, and a 'kids app' (ie fruit n yogurt parfaits). Plus wine and beer.
We ABSOLUTELY did breakfast as a 'meal replacement' and I felt it was billed that way. Evening apps we did 'meal replace' one night but that was more due to very late lunch plus pool drinks plus looooots of kettle chips ;).
Hope this helps

Heather

I am super excited for our first CL stay at AKL. Can you tell me where the lounge is located, by an elevator? We requested our room to be close to the club lounge elevator. DH is a beer drinker, do they have beer out in the afternoon or just in the evening with the other adult beverages? Any other tips or info would be great!

I was told when I changed my Arusha bunk bed room to a Standard Club room that all CL rooms have an Arusha view. I think it was $25.00 more to switch, so i booked the CL room. I am not guaranteed a bunk bed CL room, but I put a request in.

I am not a DVC member, but read here on the DIS that if you book DVC AKL CL that you are not guaranteed a Savannah view, that you either get Savannah or a pool view room.

I have... And loved it!! As a matter of fact we loved it so much we are headed back in april. We stayed first floor and had no problem with activity on the path outside the rooms. There was some separation from the path and our patio. Being on the first floor was important to us as it made it easy for one of us to go in and out of the room while we had children sleeping. I think that if I didn't have young children I would request 3 rd floor.

This is exactly why we are doing the GVCL first floor for our trip. :thumbsup2

I sold yc club to dh with a promise of bacon wrapped scallops and lobster salad. If we are staying there for 6 nights and they still offer those apps, do you think he will get to try those?

Recent reviews have included those items, so I think you stand a good chance! :goodvibes

WOW that is so cool. I am wishing that maybe they can do something for my DH (Balloons or a special card) for his birthday. We did not do anything special for his 40th last year. And now we will be in Disney for his Birthday this year.

Is it better to order my cake with them then go through the Disney cake number?

WL CL took care of it after we arrived. You will have to check with them to see if they will do it before you arrive. Every CL does things a lil different. I'm thinking for my second DD's Sweet 16 in June, I will order thru the cake hotline prior to arrival for a cake to be delivered to CRT the morning of her birthday. My dilemma with this is how do I get the left overs back to our hotel room if we aren't heading back right after the meal?
There is an official cake thread for ideas and help. I think I will check there with how to handle the left overs. :coffee:http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2912870&highlight=cakes

I asked this on the BC/YC thread, but thought I'd ask here too. I have seen several people say that they are greeted when they arrive and brought to the club level to check-in. How do they know you are coming? Or is it :wizard:

This is our first stay at CL (WL). I am very much a control freak regarding our adr's. I am on the fence to do them myself or let IPO make them. I am working on the email packet they sent me. How has everyone's experience been with them letting IPO make their adrs

Well hello fellow control freak. I too have a hard time letting go of control. That being said, I have had great luck with the different CL IPO's. Give them specifics (for instance hour to 2 hour time frame) and they pretty much get what you want if you request far enough out. I have also made many MANY changes after getting confirmations, so don't sweat it if you have to change things around. It's their job and I have never gotten the feeling that I have bothered them. Now, I haven't always gotten exactly what I want when it is closer to our trip (like weeks away), but that will happen even if you call yourself.

The only draw back to staying CL and using IPO is you will be very spoiled. ;)

I very much like using IPO and have never been disappointed. I hope this will be your experience too. :thumbsup2

I was told all AKL CL rooms are Savanah view. No idea about mimosas at other CL. They were not out you had to ask a CM for one. The beer went into the fridge around 1630 but you could ask anytime day or night for wine or beer.

Ohhhh so you asked if they had mimosas. That is a horse of a different color.:lmao: I thought they had them out to make your own or a pitcher. Thank you for clearing that up.
