Does anyone know if any of the renovated rooms are ready? Anyone seen one?

Hawaii is the 1st building being done and it is underway, not expected to be complete until March. I would expect possibly seeing pics at end of March. You can check out the tikiman pages and there are some pics that will give you an idea of the work. :goodvibes

Yeah....I'm in Chicago, and it's warmed up a bit, got up to 23 degrees farenheight today :-) Mid 60's may seem cool to some, but that will be a heat wave to us!

very true!

I am just wondering if there is a super target near WDW? We are driving over from Clearwater and I know the refillable mugs don't do juice or milk so want to get a few snacks and maybe some souvenirs to surprise the girls with!
Thanks

I've read that their is a Publix near by, I believe. We are ordering online from Garden Grocer and having it delivered to hotel :-)

I saw his pics of the test rooms....and I have to say I like the old decor better! The wall color looks like mint green to me - and I can't stand that color!

LOL. I thought the same thing too! I liked the darker look. I guess I will have to wait and see more pictures when they are done

I'm not really in love with the refurb pictures I have seen either but evidently so many guests complained about it being too dark so that's what Disney decided on. I'm rarely disappointed in what updates Disney makes and I'm excited about a remodeled CL lounge and duvet covers so I'll just countdown until I can see it in person :)

Yes! I have stopped there on my way to WDW - great prices and lots of items you might want (including beer and wine). I got my info from allears at http://allears.net/btp/grocery.htm

I'm so excited to stay hear for the first time. We have walk the grounds and have fallen in love with this resort. My teen boys have no idea about us staying here.

I am one of those people who found the Poly too dark. Last month was our first ever Disney trip, and Poly's dark room was the overwhelming reason why next December we are staying at CR or WL.

I liked so many other things about Poly I might be back some day, if the rooms brighten up a bit, or they get better lighting. It felt like I was at a roadside Motel that was kept intentionally dark to hide the dirt.

Ha ha I know what you mean and the bathroom is especially dark. I think lightening up the rooms is a good idea and I hope I like it better in person! My only fear is that it's just going to be a splash of mint green added to what's already there...

I've stayed at both the Poly and WL several times (love them both). I've personally found the WL rooms to feel darker than the Poly rooms, though of course YMMV.

Tinkerbellie, bummer about the room renovations taking a couple of months per building. I thought I'd read that only one building would be done at a time (which means they expect to be done with Tokelau by May), but I have no idea where I read that. You're probably right that it will take longer, and as you say, schedules slip. I guess I should come up with a backup request....

Do the tv's have a hdmi input? It might be neat to plug in the video camera from the day or watch a movie from the ipad.
:cheers

Haven't gotten the chance to go through this whole thread yet. We are staying there for the first time in Oct and I was wondering about the bedspreads. Are they duvets or not? Thx!

At present they are not--with the new rehab I believe the bed coverings will be duvet-type, but that is based upon a sneak peek on another website.

I'm trying to decide between a lake view room or garden view in club level. Is the GV view in club level bad because it is only $192 more for 7 nights. (Lake view club is an additional $750 from garden view club). Thanks!

We stayed in GV CL room last year and loved it! We were on the same floor as the lounge so anytime we wanted a prime view, we would go to the lounge. It was perfect at night when we would grab a dessert then sit and watch the fireworks. IMO, you don't need to pay so much more for the view in your room.

Thank you, good advice! (From MrsLS's husband. :) )

GVCL was wonderful for us. Lovely, relaxing view of the foliage while sitting on the balcony. There wasn't a ton of time to enjoy it, but we would usually sit out there in the evening after the kids passed out :) I'd choose it again, in a heartbeat!

This has been our experience as well. :goodvibes
