Well this is my very first PTR and I decided to make it one PTR where I will put all of the PTR's for this year. Why? Well you'll have to stick around for that story!
First, let me say thank you to any and all of you who may join in. The PTR's, TR's and DR's on the DIS play a very important role in bringing these Disney dreams of mine to life Let's get on with the story and plans then, shall we?
All of last year, I had been unemployed and it was truly getting on my nerves. While I won't give my exact age, I am not that old (no seriously, I'm not even officially MID-20's, at least not for a few more months ) BUT I have been working since age 13. Needless to say this whole jobless situation was a little new to me. So as the months rolled by, my figure started to roll along with it (double stuff Oreo's became my friend AND enemy), as I traded in suits for sweats and sweats for sweets. (Yeah depression was starting to sink in BIG time ) So one day I decided I would try to stay out of this funk (and IN my jeans) by listening to my inner Tink and thinking of my happy place I started to plan a trip to Disney World. So there I was no job, not going back to school until the Winter, nothing to do but plan a Disney trip! Oh yeah this was a recipe for success. Now, considering that by the time I was 9, I knew the layout of Disney World better than my neighborhood, it's not like I needed a whole lot of planning time. BUT I am a planner, I mean that's what i do. Add that to being slightly, ummm, shall we say excited *cough* fanatical *cough* about all things Disney World and well, couch meet potato! I was glued to my WDW planning CD (I just watch it to get in the spirit, they don't have one tip that I don't already know OR can't find on the DIS of course ), Netflix and YouTube for all TV specials on Disney Parks and resorts AND of course when I found *drumroll please* THE DISboards I had three notebooks that contained everything from hotel pricing of all hotels I was interested in, all dates, all historical discounts for which I may qualify. . . basically, I ought to apply to Disney's IT department, because I could get that website rolling with all the info I have. IJS
So first, I planned a trip for hunny and I in November, 4 days at WDW, 2 days at Uni and 2 days for travel. . . oh how those plans changed
Then, I decided on one with hunny and I plus the munchkins (there's two of em, perhaps you will meet them later, hmmm )
And then, my mom. My mom enjoys Disney, I mean, we used to go every year (hence my love *cough* obsession *cough*) for WDW, but that was more because of my dad. It was my grandma on my dad's side that absolutely LOVED Disney World and would take the family every year, sometimes more than once. Well Miss Mommy threw a monkey wrench in my plans when she informed me that she wanted to get away for Christmas I mentioned the Christmas trip they took me on when I was 2 and how much she enjoyed it (NOT) with all the heat and crowds, oh, and the two year old they brought to see Mickey who refused to allow Mickey to get within 5 feet of her (hey, what can I say, as long as he was at a distance I loved him, but up close? c'mon. How many two year old's do YOU know with a fondness of over-sized rodents in their face? I didn't think so.) Now, even though I have heard this story a zillion times over my twenty-something years, and every time it was chocked full of "ugh the heat, oh the people, my goodness the MONEY " Miss Mommy, alllllllll of a sudden has "fond" memories of the trip. "Oh I enjoyed it, the crowds were fine with me, time well spent." Say what?! "You mean, you enjoyed Disney in December, you would even want to go back?" Huh? Since when? What changed? Oh, nevermind Since I knew we would not be going the next Christmas (2012) I did the natural thing and began planning a "Surprise X-mas 2013 Disney trip" for Miss Mommy. (Part of the surprise was how the heck it would happen )
So there I was 3 Disney trips, planned, priced and prepped for. I was ready Waaaaiiiit a minute, oh yeah, a job, still needed that. . . darn, so close but yet. . . well now THIS my friends is where the plot get's thicker (and better)
I had been planning, but still job searching and getting ready for my classes to start. If I got one more "This position has been removed/filled/sent to the moon" letter i was going to scream!!! I had two positions for which I had a pretty great chance of getting, but the companies had to hold off on hiring (you know end of the year stuff) so I wait. . . and plan. . . and wait. . . and obsess. . . and get financial aid. . . and HEY, nah. . . and wait and FINALLY, well nothing really. Nothing BUT a few magical phone calls
A lot of things started coming together financially for me. PLUS Hunny is an artist, and he got a few HUGE opportunities. AND THEN Miss Mommy, that FABULOUS woman who birthed me, informed me of a conference for a organization which we are both alumni of, and that she could use my help and the conference is. . . oh yeah, in DISNEY WORLD!!!
Thanks to God, I went from dreaming of 1 possible, per chance, somewhere-over-the-rainbow trip, to 4, count em FOUR trips to WDW!!!
Will I make them all? Will I add a few?! Will Disney revoke my PAP for over use?!! We will wait and see, because the possibilities are mind blowing at the moment
So saddle up your cow, grab your lucky cricket, AND STRUT!!! (Please tell me my family is not the only one that uses Mulan references in everyday life)
