Where is this destination on a cruise ship.

The pic in this looks so cool. I would like to take a cruise over the summer. This looks like you zipline down and over the ocean and perhaps land on an island. My daughter and I love to zipline. If anyone has been on an island that had this I would love if you would let me know.

I'm pretty sure that's Labadee... Royal Caribbean's private island. I think their "Western Caribbean" itineraries stop there. (Including mine in June )

The zip line is ~$90pp IIRC. That's one "training" zip on a short line, then the over water one.

Yup, Labadee the private Island for RCCL, check out cruisecritic dot come, its like the DIS for cruising...
that cruise is amazing by the way, we had a GREAT time!! (western carrib)

Too funny, Mom21. I got that travelzoo email and was captivated by the picture!

I can't view the picture, am at work and the link is blocked. But, to share my experience. I went on a zipline tour in Belize. it was about $70, and had 9 (if I remember right) lines. It was a blast! It did not go over water. It went through jungle terrain. Oh my, was it ever hot there in September. but we were having so much fun, it didn't matter. Went to the beach afterwards and cooled off there.

Labadee is also a private island stop for Celebrity Cruise Line (owned by RCI).

I knew you guys would know. You rock.

bgirldeb......we could go together......wouldn't that be fun?

momz we did one in Sept in Dominican Republic. Sounds like same thing.....through a forest. Yes it was hot and sweaty but we had fun. My kid was 11 at the time (she will now be 16 in March of this year) and terrified. She wanted to go first in front of me. I really wasn't sure she would go at all. By the time I landed on the second or third platform she was all smiles and laughing with other people that had gone before us. She said she was still scared, but liked it. That is something as she isn't a social person and very shy. By the end she landed on the final platform and was no where in sight when I made it there. She had taken off into the cabin there to remove her gear and was chatting away with the staff. She LOVED it. It was great. This was a big step for her. She can be quite the timid child.

Wow, they certainly have upgraded Labedee since I was there in 1988. And it was vastly upgraded in 1988 from when I was there in 1986.

We stopped there on an Eastern Carribbean itinerary, too. (Zip line wasnt' there, though)

Has anyone ever booked a cruise thru Travel Zoo?

ETA: Just wondering because I priced a cruise thru them vs directly thru Royal Caribbean and the price was the same. :scratchin

If you right click on the picture you'll see the file name has the letters NCL in it.

Wondering if this means Norwegian Cruise Line?

I think only Royal Caribbean (which includes Celebrity) stops there. It's their private island (or segment of the island).

One odd tidbit... I was talking to the screener the last time I gave blood, and just because we get off the ship at Labadee (which is in Haiti), we can't give blood for a year.

That's because Royal Caribbean does not allow TA's to discount their cruises. What TA's can do is offer perks such as pre-payed gratuities, OBC, dinners at specialty restaurants, bottle(s) of wine, etc.
