best Lake Buena Vista Hotel on a budget??

We always stay on property and do our final night off property to save money. We get to use our dining credits throughout the day of check-out, so we just throw our luggage in the van, go to the park, and then hit a cheaper hotel that night before we start the long drive home. It saves us from having another night of dining and such added to our package. If that makes sense.

Last year we stayed at a hotel over by the Animal Kingdom area (I forgot the highway) and although it was only $75 for the night, I was a little turned off. It was very, very clean if a little out dated. But I felt like I was in a time-share sales pitch just to check-in. At 9pm, with two tired kids, and knowing I'd have to get up at 6am to hit the road, I was just annoyed. The room was prepaid, but the only man working check-in was too busy trying to sell Disney tickets to a couple to even acknowledge me for 20 minutes. And then when it was my turn, it took 10 minutes of telling him we JUST left a Disney resort and have no need for more tickets. Then it was on to Universal, I was going to scream.

This trip I am looking to stay at a Lake Buena Vista DTD hotel. Maybe Wyndham or Clarion if I can find a deal. I just want a room that is clean, updated, with no high pressure sales pitch upon check-in. Oh, and hopefully around $125ish for the night in late September.

Is there a hotel you would recc'd? Thanks

Not in DTD, but Buena Vista Suites or Caribe Royale would fit the bill and are often recommended here. Great location and good rates. You can find a link for deals for both on the Mousesavers website.

Recently stayed at the best western dtd and liked it, check in was quick, it was clean and within walking distance of dtd

I was just going to say the DTD Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort. You can probably get a great deal at Mousesavers.com. I think the rooms run about $89.00 a night plus a $9.95 resort fee. Free self Parking and a bus to DTD. There is a small pool and a really nice reasonably priced breakfast buffet. Big rooms....2 queen size beds. On site pizza hut express last time I was there.

I tried Googling it but can make heads or tails as to how far off property the Caribe Royal is. Does anyone know how far off property it is? TIA :goodvibes

any recent stays at the buena vista resort and your opinion on the "musty" smell that keeps showing up on the trip advisor boards???
despite the price, if there is a prevalent situation, id prefer to refer our friend somewhere else in DTD area...TIA

To which are you speaking?

the resort and spa...I think the wording was lake buena vista resort and spa in DTD area??
its across from dtd..???

For a one night stay, you cant beat the Clarion LBV. we have never had a problem, no parking or resort fee, and usually pay less than $65.....sometimes $45

Try Hampton Inn LBV. We have a rate of $76 per night this upcoming June for one night offsite (before going to WL). I googled Hilton MVP rate and it pulled up a MVP website of Hilton's that has better prices than the regular ones. You just have to be a hilton honors member which is free--just sign up. Breakfast included :).

Edit--a friend of mine stayed in DTD best western not too long ago and said it was very clean but dated.

It is just a little over a mile down World Center drive from Disney property. We past it when we went to the grocery when we stayed at WBC. It is really close.

did not find anyone here who recommended this.

they are recommending Best Western Lake Buena Vista - a completely different place. now I have not stayed there in a couple of years - but when I did it was fine.

here the list of all the DD hotels
http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/

sometimes besides mousesavers - you can look at travelzoo for discounts of them

Thanks :) It looks nice. I can't decide if I should go for super cheap at the Clarion or finish the trip on a high note and book the nicer room here for more. I am thinking if I can get it around $125 fees included, I will. Tour Guide Mike would always suggest ending a WDW trip with a fireworks show whether it's Fantasmic, Wishes, or Epcot, so maybe the same idea will carry over to a "trasnfer" hotel as we call it LOL!

Check the Caribe Royale website every Wed for their one day sale. Each week, they have a special listed Wed. Only. They have good deals. On Black Friday, they had a deal for a 2 Queen Suite for $118 for dates including early April. I had it booked but changed to CBR so that i could use my Disney Visa Reward dollars for our last night. I think if you keep an eye on their deals, you should be able to get the price that you want.
And it really is very close. Close enough that if you wanted to take break and go there to swim and use the pool slide in the afternoon, it is really easy and you don't hit the traffic.

Thanks for the info, both on the location and the Wednesday deals. I will keep my eyes open for a good price.

Take a look at the hotels on Palm Pkwy - in particular the Hawthorne Suites - no pressure at check in - suite sized rooms with separate living room/free hot breakfast for the next morning before you hit the road - and I think you can get in the price range you're looking for - ::yes:: (We found it to be very easy/quick in the DTD area but not directly on Hotel Plaza Blvd.)
