I am booked for A of A finding Nemo Suite but had thought about switching to PO Royal Guest Room. I had thought about switching to the Coronado but was told that is more of a Convention resort and it would suck to be there if there was a convention - also I heard there were like 9 stops on the bus line. I would love to hear some opinions on resorts these resorts and some experiences....I am traveling with my Hubby, and my 3 and 4 year old...

THANKS!

I just returned from a stay in a Royal Room. I've also stayed in CSR three times.

The nice thing about POR is the food court area. CSR has a CS area for getting food, but it's small and doesn't have seating. CSR has a bigger pool, but theme pools are nice.

Overall, I like CSR better. There are always conventions going on and they've never impacted our stay at all. In fact they keep the buses pretty empty since they don't do the parks first thing in the morning. The bedding is nicer and I like the sliding door to the vanity area.

I think you'll be happy with either resort though. Just go with the theme you like better.

Both the CSR and the POR thread are very well maintained, so you will find a lot of info about both resorts.

Both have similar layouts with multiple bus stops, so there is no difference.

POR has a slightly better food court and does have entertainment, as well as access to DTD via water taxi.

CSR has a wonderful pool area and nice outdoor seating.

I love the themes of both resorts.

Conventions have no impact on your stay, unlike competitions. Convention people are tied up all day in activities and you rarely see them; they have little impact on the parks, so you won't see any significant differences with the bus service.

I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Not sure where you are getting your info from as CSR has only 4 bus stops. If you go to the resort sticky at the top of this forum you can find lots of great info about the resorts or go to allears. Also CSR no longer has the buffets for breakfast and lunch. It is now back to having a food court and has lots of seating. The only thing I dislike is the 10% gratuity to eat inside but if you get it to go and eat outside you don't have to pay the 10%.

Seems like you have managed to find some bad (as in very inaccurate) information. I would suggest that you spend some time on the resort specific threads to get a realistic picture (and yes, they have photos too) of each of the resorts you are interested in.

thank you all - i didn't realize there were resort specific forums - I will definitely check them out! I am greatful to have insight from so many experienced people!

CSR and POR both have 4 bus stops, and AoA has multiple ones as well. I agree with PP - if there's a convention going on at CSR, its a good thing as it empties the buses and pool area. Less families around because it's typically single business travelers, so less people.

AoA has only one bus stop.

We've stayed in both an AoA Nemo Suite and the POR Royal Rooms recently. They are both awesome in their own ways. The suites will give you a lot more room. The theming at AoA is perfect for your kids' ages and the pools family friendly. The buses go directly to the parks, we found bus service good.

POR's RGR rooms are wonderful too, but are much further to the main building than would be at AoA. Multiple bus stops. I give the advantage here for the foodcourt over AoA even though I like LoF too. You have easy access to Downtown Disney by boat for dining and fun. The boat ride alone is fun.

Like I said, both are great, you have to decide which aspects of the resorts are most important to you. (Room size, theming, distance of rooms to central locations, transportation options and dining.)

Good luck! I think either AoA or POR RGR would be a great choice! ( we have also stayed at CSR, as nice as it is, it is my least favorite moderate resort.)

Thank you both so much - one of the reasons I was thinking of going to the POR royal guest rooms was because we could save about $882...but my travel agent said to book the Nemo Suite and wait to see about discounts - she said discounts might come out which would make it less expensive and if they don't it would be easier to switch to POR because those rooms don't fill up as fast as the suites.....

there is so much to learn - this will be my fourth trip to Disney but my first as an adult with children, lol - last time I went was in college and we camped out at Jelly Stone, lol - this is a whole new world for me!

We have stayed at all three of the resorts you mentioned, with kids.

Personally we hated CSR and stayed there once and never stayed there again. This was years ago, we didn't like the room decor, the convention going on, and we had a bad experience with the CM's.

PoR we stayed at before the renovation. It was ok for me but I feel no need to stay there again. DH didn't like the resort at all. It just didn't feel like anything special for us.

We just stayed at AoA in Dec. It wasn't in the suites, we werein a Little Mermaid room. We all loved it! We are DVC members so we are use to 1 bedroom units and we didn't miss the space at all. That's how great the resort as awhole is! We didn't care abut the small room. The themeing can't be beat! Our kids are older, 14 & 9 and they went crazy for the over the top theme! So did DH & I! I loved everything about it! We were there during Xmas week and the bus service was fantastic! Our room was spotless. Our view was of the pool & at night we could see the fireworks right from our window! The foodcourt had so many options & the food was always fresh and good. The CM's were friendly & helpful. We had such a great time that we will stay there again. We didn't get to use the pool because it was too cold, so we want a chance to swim in their awesome pools!

With kids the ages yours are, I would go with the suite at AoA. They will love it! Also, having a seperate bedroom, 2 bathrooms & a place to prepare breakfasts will be a huge plus, trust me! You can also save a bit on snacks & drinks by having your own in your room. Same with breakfast.

I am going to offer a different point of view, not about either resort but the sleeping arrangements.

DS went to AoA with his grandparents and cousins in November and stayed in a Cars Suite. He ended up sleeping on the murphy bed, not because he liked it, but because it was the lesser of 2 evils (sofa bed vs murphy bed). He is beyond excited to be staying at a resort this time around with a regular bed. (And is kind enough to "humor" Mom by staying in a RR at POR).

Thank you both for the information -
It sounds like A of A would be amazing for my kids -
I am now starting to worry about the uncomfortable beds though - we will be driving down from New York so maybe I can pack something that will make them more comfortable - an egg crate type thing or mattress pad?

Most likely the kids will end up sleeping in the bed with me and the hubby will end up on the sofa bed - he likes to stay up late watching TV....

Slightly worried about uncomfortable beds now - especially since the resort itself sounds perfect for two little ones!

My DD15 slept on the sofa bed and DD10 slept on the Murphy bed and they had no complaints whatsoever! DD15 is like Princess and the Pea...she most definitely would have complained if the bed was uncomfortable! DD10 fell asleep with a smile on her face each night sleeping "under the sea" with the most adorable Marlin and Nemo mural over her. If your kids are so tired from having fun at Disney, which I guarantee they will be, I honestly think the beds will be no issue at all!!

Keep in mind the sofa bed is not the old type with the bar going through your back! lol They are very comfortable. I have also heard the murphy beds were comfortable too. I've never heard of anyone complaining about them. Maybe the person above who's son didn't like it was older/bigger? Maybe that is why it was uncomfortable for him? I would go over to the AoA thread and ask about the beds over there. My kids sleep on a sofa bed everytime we are at WDW and have never complained about being uncomfortable. Also, keep in mind the bed in the bedroom is only a queen size so if your kids sleep with you it could get crowded! ;)

Great Info! Thank you! I will definitely pose that question on the A of A thread! I imagine it is true that the kiddos should be just plain exhausted and could sleep through the night on concrete, lol - it is hubby that I am most worried about - he has had several back surgeries and knee surgeries and has a hard time being comfortable when laying down -

it will be crowded in that queen size bed but it will be Disney! so it will be fine!

The bed in the master bedrooms is a FULL size, not queen.

The moderate and deluxe resorts have queen size beds.

The bed in the AoA Family Suites' master bedroom is most definitely a queen. They are fulls in the standard Little Mermaid rooms.
Just wanted to clarify.... One of the advantages of the suites.

I have stayed at all 3. My two cents worth. Pick AOA or CSR. AOA for the size of the room and zero entry pool with little ones or CSR for the hot tub and theme. POR royal room was nuts with my two year old who kept pushing the lights button singing dream lights til 1am there was no way to shut it off. My other down side for POR was the size of the resort it was a far walk to the food court with a 2 year old and grandma. POR didnt work for us due to the size of the resort and the pool looked old. I love CSR themed pool and hot tub area and their food court. AOA the space is wonderful but I did miss the hot tub however the short distance to the food court and pool was wonderful. Hope all that mess made sense.

Thank you so much that is such great advice and very helpful - I think I would shoot myself if I had to listen to those lights/music going off over and over, lol! I would really like a hot tub for myself - I mean I know it is a vaca for the kids but it is the first vaca I have had in forever too, so I really do want to be able to treat myself to something! Right now I think that we will stay with A of A for the kids and hopefully a nice discount will come out and I can use the savings to give myself a spa day!
Otherwise - I think we will head to CSR for the savings and the hot tub!:cool1:
