what do I do with my backpack while on a ride?

Just wondering what everyone does with their backpack if everyone in their party is going on a ride and you can't take it with you. Should I bring a bike chain or something with a small luggage lock for the zipper?

We take ours on the ride with us. Never had any problems.

Agree take it with you my husband wears one and brings it on everything!!

You could rent a locker if you didn't want to carry it all day.

Most rides have a place to put items. I have taken the back pack on with me and placed it in the pouch in front of me with no problems.

At WDW, they let you take bags and backpacks on rides. Some rides have a specific storage area (like Soarin, which has a storage area under each seat). For other rides, you can simply put the bag on the floor by your feet, loop your leg through a strap to keep it in place, and go! (This even works on "upside down" rides like Rock n' Roller Coaster, which has inversions. Just set the bag on the floor, loop your leg through a strap, and go. Just make sure you zip up all the compartments!)

At non-WDW parks, like Universal, I think they don't let you take bags on rides but they do at WDW! I've never been on a ride where it was a problem.

My biggest worry is my DSLR camera... Obviously it has to get left behind during wet rides... So where would they be stored... My experience when working there was only at Blizzard Beach and there wasn't really because the start of the ride and the end of the ride weren't at the same location. How does this work? We are planning on renting a stroller and having a bag...

Depending on what lens you have on it a dslr can fit in a ziplock for wet rides. There's no possible way that I'd be leaving mine behind with the stroller where anyone could walk off with it.

I always take my with me. I always take my camera and would not leave it behind. I don't want to leave my camera in a locker.

So for water rides, leave it (along with everything else) in a ziplock bag in the backpack and it should be okay?

For many of the rides I don't have to worry about this because my husband and I will have to do the rider swap but for those select rides we can do as a family, I want to make sure it will be fine.

We use a bigger backpack and for most rides it goes on with us. When it doesn't I leave it with a CM and pick it up after the ride. I also have my DSLR in it and have never had a problem with doing that.

Other than renting a locker there is not a good safe place to put a camera. I would do as PP mentioned put it in a ziplock bag.

They sell 2 gallon sized ziplock bags. Any camera should be able to fit into one of those. I use them to pack our MNSSHP costumes so I can squish all of air out of the poofy ones. :rotfl:

I take my bag with me on all rides and I'm pretty" fluffy" and still have room for my backpack. I put my camera bag in a quart size ziplock bag. I actually put my maps in a seperate one and all my sunscreen and things that leak in another. Ziplock baggies come in handy

The only thing that worries me is my DSLR camera as well. Here is what I am thinking. If you plan on going to any water parks or parks where you will be riding a lot of water rides (Most rides you do not get that wet except obviously the water parks) then leave the big camera in the room or your car. The others put it in a ziplock bag.

I plan to use ziploc bags for everything in my smallish backpack. If I take my DSLR it will be double bagged. I have another smaller digital I may alternate. I was looking at getting one of those basic soft cases for DSLRs to offer a bit of cushion BUT 2 Ziplocs too. This will speed up finding things and going through security.

Healthcare items in one, maps etc. in another, wallet items in another, snacks in yet another.

I'm surprised that you have been able to do that (leave your bag with a CM to watch for you). It seems like the CMs wouldn't want to take responsibility for watching guests' bags, especially if there are expensive things like cameras in them. Who's to say that the CM wouldn't need to step away for a minute and leave your bag unattended? Or that some other guest might walk up and say that it's their bag!

I guess I'd just take my bag on the ride with me, or put it in a locker.
