Sofia the First Doll Woes

This is kind of budget related considering that the Sofia the First Doll is going on Ebay for sometimes $100 and in the store (if you kind find one) it is less than $20!
My baby (18months) loves Sofia and she really likes dolls, so everyday I check the Disney Store website and this doll is never on there! What does it take to find one at a reasonable price!? This is crazy!
Disney should be making a ton of these so that people will stay interested and happy!
Ok, vent over!

Can you post a link of what your looking for...would be happy to look in our area...or in Disney when we are there later this week.

I hate it when things get marked up...and people buy tons of them...to make money and deny the kids who would enjoy having them the ability.

Do you have a Disney Store by you? I wonder if you just called every single day for a while, if they would take pity on you and call you when they got one in?

ETA: Our only Disney store is 45 minutes away but if I'm ever out that way I'll check for you!

She's very popular right now since her show premiered. I purchased the doll as soon as I saw it on DS.com. The costume and necklace are already sold out as well. You have to act on something as soon as you see it.

I will keep my eyes open for her....that is crazy that people are selling for that much but I guess they can....and do.

Even at the Disney Store there are people who show on the day the get new stock and swoop them up. At my local store I was told there is a group of women who are there at opening each Friday (their new stock day).

My local store did have the figurine set the last time I was there.

I have been lucky enough to get the dress, tiara, amulet, and play set. Just missing the doll! I have called the store closest to us, but they don't have any and I've emailed the personal shopper people at DS.com, who are no help! It's so frustruating!
Maybe I will call the local one and see if they'll tell me when their stock day is.

Then I'd be there every Friday as well with those women!

I will post if I hear my store is getting them.

We got in the dresses and amulet TODAY. The word from home base is that we will be stocked by early to mid-February. So be patient. This is NOT a situation where the item is discontinued!

It is frustrating how hard the Ebayers work at this. They call and call, because it is not only like their job, it IS their job.

You could try to talk to the store manager about the problem, and ask if she could try and limit guests to 2 pieces (or something) of each item. That is not company policy, though. The Ebayers tell stories about why they need multiples of these items, BD parties, 5 granddaughters, etc. they never usually admit they sell on Ebay. So, it's complicated. And we have NOT had this item at all in at least 6 weeks.

I would just be patient and keep trying. Disney has invested a lot in Sofia, as shown by the fact that they are making her a part of the Disney Jr. show at DHS already, and trotted her out as a new character in the Christmas parade. FYI- in case you haven't heard Sofia was the highest rated pre-school show series premiere in history.

I'm sure they didn't want to overstock until they were sure she would catch on, and I think it is already pretty clear that little girls love her as shown by the ratings. I have no doubt that merchandising will catch up to her popularity. I am sure there are factories cranking out Sofia stuff as fast as possible right now so they can cash in on the Little Princess while she is hugely popular. Within a month or so, I bet the dolls will be available all over the Disney store, and Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us will probably have versions of Sofia merchandise too.

It is like a lot of the other stuff that people pay a ridiculous amount on Ebay for because it is the newest craze and the stores can't keep up, and then a month later the stores are flooded with the stuff and you can get everything you want.

My Wife bought the doll, dress, tiara and amulet sometime in December after the debut of Sophia. I know shes been checking the local store if they are getting a re-stock for a friend and we had no luck.

I'm pretty sure I saw it at the Disney Store Outlet we went in on Sunday in Lawrenceville, Ga. Not 100% though, they did have alot of Sophie the First stuff. If I wasn't almost 2 hours away, I would check for you, but their phone # is 678-847-0140, I bet they would send you one if they have it.

The online store is limiting people to 2 pieces of each, but I'm sure people get around it with multiple accounts. They did have the 6 piece figurine set earlier today which my daughter loves.

I've been lucky and gotten just about the items I need between the online store and local store. Sadly I wish the amulet had been made with better string in the back - my daughter broke that within 3 hours.

My friend got the amulet, and my feeling was that maybe she should have bought 2, since they were pretty inexpensive. I was surprised it is on a stretchy string, no clasp. (she did not buy 2).

That is very interesting about the limit of 2 online, I will ask about that next time I work.

I was surprised too - at first I didn't see how it would get over my daughter's head. Then I saw it was stretchy and just knew it wasn't going to last very long (and it didn't and there were many tears). I did restring it with a better thread, but it's not as nice now since I had trouble tying up the sides.

I've only seen the limit of 2 on Sofia items. They are probably sick of people calling/e-mailing about them so they are hoping putting a limit on them allows more people to actually purchase them (rather than the resellers scooping them all up).

I don't mind keeping an eye out for her either ... and I was just at MK last night and didn't see any of her, but I'll look when/if we go back Sunday.

Thanks everyone! I still haven't found her yet, but I did find out that the nearest DS gets new shipments on Thursdays, so I'll be calling again today.
