How strict are SW/BG about snacks and water? UPDATE post #10

I have been searching past threads about bringing food into Seaworld and Busch Gardens. I understand that you cannot bring in coolers. What about cereal bars and water bottles in a backpack? We plan on eating meals at the parks, but my kids are fussy about snacks - and honestly I am not keen about shelling out $ for quick snacks.

Also, is it easy to refill water bottles at the parks?

We were there in December and brought a couple of water bottles and some quick snacks in our backpack. We had no problem. No one said anything to us.

If you have cups from Seaworld/Busch Gardens in the past take them and water refills are free. Although you probably won't want to drink the water at Seaworld. Orlando water is awful.

I know on our girl scout trip the leaders brought some water in the back packs but hid them with towels and clothes too. Not sure if they would say anything or not. We haven't tried since we get the all day dining plan.

we always take water and snacks in with us with no problem. They only seem to have an issue if it's a large cooler you are trying to take in. In the past we have taken in subway sandwiches with no issues.

On 1/11 I ran into the first issue I've ever had with bringing food into Sea World. The bag check guy said "snacks" are ok but any prepared food isn't allowed. We've always brought pb&j sandwiches instead of paying upwards of $20 for a meal. Funny thing is we did it the day before without any issue..guess it's going to depend on who you get at bag check.

we have food allergies/intolerances in our family and we have explained this to the bag check guys when they were checking our bags and they were understanding and allowed us to take in sandwiches and other food.

Make sure you don't bring straws. Our kids love Capri suns but our first time at SW they took the straws because they can be a danger to the animals. Since our kids like drinking with straws, we now plan and bring a bottle with built in straw. OR we received plastic cups with straws at some of our meals there and we save a few and bring them back when we travel there. Otherwise they are not strict about snacks and drinks. Also, if you bring your own bottle, they will refill with ice water anywhere. That is what I do instead of bringing heavy bottles of water. Then I just put the bottle in the stroller.

We've always taken water and snacks into Seaworld and never had a problem at the bag check, we have however been told not straws too.

Update:
We brought water (maybe 4 bottles for 6 of us) and a small box of cereal bars or crackers each day. BG and SW did a very thorough bag check but no one said anything about the food. We did spread the snacks and drinks into a couple of different bags. Legoland did not bag check at all.
