September 9, 2013 - WONDERful re-positioning trip to LA

I couldn't be more excited !!!! We just book our cruise... We had so much fun last year I knew I couldn't miss it this year. There have been so many offers for kids sail free from Disney lately that I was considering holding out to see what they have to offer at a later date but when a friend of mine said things were booking up I knew I just couldn't wait a min longer! This is only my second Disney cruise and I think i'm hooked. Travelling with my DH, and 2 DS... draging along my Mom and Dad too and might even have suckered in some friends to join too! I'm kinda happy with only the 1 day stop in SanFran but sad i'm missing out another night on the ship. We'll be spending a week in DL afterward and then sadly heading home to Vancouver to wait out the months till we book another trip.

Do you all have Fish extenders? Are they easy to make?

How many of you are doing the back to back. The 9/2 Alaska with the repo? That's what we are doing. Do you have to get off the boat for B2B cruises if you have the same room on both?

We did a B2B with the Caribbean cruises and they made us get off and go through customs and get back on, but very much by ourselves and after all of the other passengers got off. We were off the ship maybe 15 min. Then we had the ship to ourselves! There was only one other family doing the B2B then.

That was our experience too. You get a letter in your stateroom the night before telling you where to go and what to do.

No FE here. I like to give the stuff but packing it all to take home? NOt so much1

Oh shoot, I never even thought about packing the stuff home. I've never participated before. Aren't they usually small trinkets?

Well, often they are, but sometimes not small enough, lol. And, if you wind up with 100 people on the FE list and even a quarter of them give something the size of oh- say a computer mouse or larger, it adds up. I preach small, flat and light weight but someonee with a creative idea doesen't wnt to hear it.

We are booked! This is our first Disney cruise and a bit of a “test” trip for our youngest. Before the little one came along dh, ds, and I did two other cruises, one Western Caribbean on RCCL, and one Hawaiian islands on NCL.

We chose this itinerary as it has very little travel for us since we live on Vancouver Island which is a two hour ferry ride to Vancouver. Travelling in two adjoining rooms will be my dh, ds (18), ds’s friend (18), dd (4), and I. Hopefully there will be enough activities and things to do for the 18 year olds, I’m confident my soon to be four year old will be over the moon with all there is to do for her. Anyone ever taken 18 year olds on a Disney Cruise? How did it go and did they find other older teens to hang out with?

We are looking into going to the zoo in San Francisco, it doesn’t seem to be a popular choice but we do not have a zoo here so it will be thrilling for us. What is everyone else doing on our stop?

I look forward to hearing from others and want to know all the tips and tricks of the Wonder.

Hi Trish, Welcome aboard!

At 18, they can attend the night clubs, fitness center, spa and adult shows and hang at the adult pool, but they can't drink. The cruise staff usually has a college mingle, and a singles table at lunch pretty much every sea day. Never traveled with teenagers myself, so I don't know if they meet other teens or not

Thanks for the welcome Linda, we are very excited

Hi Shelby, your blog looks very interesting I'll have a peek when I have some time. I am very jealous with all the time you get to spend in Disneyland, what a fun Mom you must be.

Oh, thank you! The blog is on hiatus right now, but there's tons of past entries. We just adopted our DD at the end of November, so life has been a whirlwind since then.

Glad to hear there will be other kids in the 5-and-under crowd. DS is totally excited about the Oceaneer Club. We did this same repositioning cruise 2 years ago but DS was only 2 so he had to hang out in Flounder's. Which he loved! But he's really looking forward to the different activities available. Plus he's a HUGE Jake and the Neverland Pirates fan, so he can't wait for pirate night. I'm so excited, I know this is going to be a great cruise!

DW (Kathy) and I just booked. Will be doing B2B of Alaska then Repo. Looking forward to talking and seeing you all! We live in Ohio and this will be our 6th and 7th Disney cruises.

Sadly I have to post that we will not be cruising with you. :( I have to have back surgery in the next month or two and I have to put cruise plans on hold until next year. We were also booked on the PC cruise.

Hope you all have a great time!!!

Our DS is 4 too. We took a Disney cruise when he was 2 and too young for Oceaneer Club, so we're excited for him to join the activities! Our DD will be 2, so will stick with us, but DS is very excited!
