Hey all! We are trying CL at AKL this August. We are doing a split stay between AKL and WL both CL. I'm familiar with WL as this will be our third CL stay there but we are new not only to CL at AKL but to AKL Period. My question is what are the offerings like? We are vegetarian and all I could find when I google is hummus and veggies. We are thinking the first few days we will basically hang around the resort how are the lunch time offerings? Thanks in advanced :)

In general at all Club locations the lunch-time offering is the least interesting. It's generally just potato chips, nuts, yogurt covered pretzels, gummy bears, etc. if not those exact items, something close.

Also for the BWI cappuccino machine, maybe I have a simple palate, but I liked the lattes and such it made. Definitely tasted like real espresso to me, I don't think it's made from powder, it doesn't taste like the fake cappuccino you can get at gas stations and 7-11.

Me too!

The machine does say Nescafe on the side, but I like what comes out of that machine WAY better than the stuff they offer for the refillable mugs. A big part of the problem I have refillable mugs is that they don't give you real milk. When I have to suffer a refillable mug, the only way I can drink the stuff is adding real milk.

(Some CL have a different kind of machine (not Nescafe) which uses pods. I want to Nespresso? brand. The espresso that comes from those machines is better than the Nescafe machines like they have at BWI, but they are also more of a pain to use and are tempermental. I have yet to see one working properly for 6 days in a row! )

To be fair, the Nescafe machine lattes do have a slightly sweet taste. If I had to guss, it's the "milk." I get around that by mixing: espresso, latte, coffee and/or cold milk. An espresso topped with coffee and real milk works well for me- not too hot. After 10:30am though, the lattes are fine.

When did you hear from the Yacht club club level before your trip?? I thought I remembered them contacting me two weeks before arrival but have not heard from them yet.

I made a reservation for YC CL to stay Sept 8-13. Two days later I got an email from the Yacht Club IPO! I was really impressed that they would contact me this far in advance:confused3

Staying YC CL 2/27 emailed IPO Friday still no response.

Did you get the automatic robo response shortly after you sent the email? If not, you might have had the wrong address.

I have found the YC/BC IPO to be extremely responsive and quick. :thumbsup2

I used the email address from the 1st page of this thread ?
Sounds like the standard view may not be too bad ??

Ok just checked my email sent Friday and even though I copied and pasted email address I guess the auto correct made it .com instead of .co m
So I just resent it. Thanks

It should just be the regular .com ending (no space...the Dis does that for some reason)...but anyway, shortly thereafter, you should get a generic automatic response that they will respond w/in 24 hours. If you don't get that, it's not going to the right address, so just check that.

And yeah, sounds like the SV might be pretty neat! We are not big sit out on the balcony people anyway, but a potential view of fireworks in the distance would be cool! :thumbsup2

I just got an auto response so it worked. Thanks.

Staying YC CL SV any requests that I should make for room? The original CM told me all SV CL had a day bed, but IOP informed me this is not so. I requested a daybed but if We don't get it a cot will be fine for my son. Daughter 13 he's turning 10 if they had to sleep together that would be a nightmare::yes::

Not all rooms have a daybed, that is true. We had a party of 5 and didn't even get one. They brought us a roll away.

Hello! Im newer to the board & I've just read thru all 43 pages, and wanted your opinion. My DH has it set in his mind that in order to do Disney to his liking he wants to always do DDP for meals. I'd love to try CL, I do understand that CL is by no means a meal replacement, but I feel like CL with DDP would be too much. We don't necessarily do 3 sit down meals every day as we enjoy signature dining, but we're so full with just our DDP tha CL seems over the top. So I'm exploring idea of a split stay to just try CL for a few days without DDP & then have reg stay at our fav BC/YC w/ DDP. Any thoughts on this?

Would you prefer to start split stay with CL or end with CL?

I think I'd like to try AKL for CL since its so far out & then just spend our few days at AK, the hotel & maybe try the Sunrise Safari. Any thoughts on this? Then reg BC/YC stay we'd do the other parks as I hate the buses.
Thanks,
Angee :yay:

I think the DDxP would probably be overkill, but the DDP combined with Club Level is not bad. You can have breakfast every morning in the lounge, and then one quick service and one table service meal per day. The regular DDP doesn't come with appetizers, but if you were in the mood for some, they are available in the lounge. You can have just one, to try it rather than getting a giant order right before your meal at the restaurant.

Plus, you don't have to run around the resort filling your mug, you can get drinks and adult beverages right on your floor. It's nice and convenient.

Hi!,

We will be staying at YC CL SV in May. This is my 7th trip, but first CL! We are hoping to not even have to use Garden Grocer since we will be using the lounge for eats. However, my family of 5 (hopefully getting a daybed, not a rollaway :scared:) drinks LOTS and LOTS of water. We just booked yesterday, so the IPO hasn't made contact just yet, but if we don't hear we will be sure to contact them. Do we make a note of needing lots of bottled water to the email (listed on first page on thread?)

Check the pricing, a room discount & paying out of pocket may be cheaper than the dining plan. Even "free" dining when tacked onto a rack rate room can be the more expensive option. And if you won't eat all that food, you end up paying the higher room rate & not using the full plan.

As for how to end the stay, I would finish the trip w/the CL. Always end at the nicer option, otherwise you change "down" & it can be a bit of a disappointment.
