I LOVE Comedians with Guitars......You didn't tell me that part...

You're killing me with all these sunrise photos. I can tell I would really love that part of a cruise. When we go to the beach, I'm up every morning at sunrise, but then once the sun is up, I'm like "NOW what do I do?":rotfl: On a cruise all I would have to do is turn around and go "Cool, I've got this entire ship to photograph!"

Can't wait to see how your day goes!

Exactly. There is a lot do look at on these ships. And I think this tour would be something you like. I took a LOT of photos this day! ;) Are you surprised?:hyper:

They have been having a hard time selling the Galveston cruises and are constantly offering discounts....I do know these cruises have not sold well at all. I think Disney is a little too pricey for that area.

I won't care if our cruise skips Costa Maya ...It's all about the cruise for us, not the ports...

The ports WERE the reason I chose a Disney cruise over the others sailing out of Galveston in the first couple weeks of January, the only time I can go. Disney is FAR more expensive than RCCL, Princess, and Carnival, and I think for the six-day itinerary in particular, there was nothing to make many people who sail out of Galveston try them - they were going to the same ports the other cruise lines visited, for far more money. KSF certainly helped attract families.

My 8-day January 4 was supposed to go to Key West and Costa Maya. Carnival goes to Key West, but we haven't sailed with them yet, so I had not been there. I was really looking forward to Costa Maya as our first cruise 5 years ago was supposed to stop there, but between the time we booked and the time we went, Hurricane Dean struck it, so we went to Cozumel instead. Unfortunately, this time around the seas were too rough to dock, so we missed it again.

Too bad Disney didn't do the 8-nights to Key West, WDW, and Castaway Cay out of Galveston from the outset. That would not have appealed to me personally, but I think it would have brought in more of their bread-and-butter (families and big Disney fans).

There can never be a bad sunrise, water view, coastline shot when cruising I bet! And you are catching them all! :thumbsup2

I really like the one looking back on the ship, (without the friends in it, but there are cute too!:cutie:)

I can't wait to see more from the day!

LOL, sure!;)

I think Disney thought the name would sell, but evidently thos in Texas didn't feel the same way. :confused3

It sure is pretty out there on the water. I am so ready to do another one! :goodvibes

Continuing our walk down the peer into Cozumel.

It was kind of funny as this family was walking with us. I assumed he was part of the group and we stopped for a bit to wait for our guide, Ceaser. This family realized that we were a group and then took off. It was kind of funny.

We went through a shopping plaza to get to our buses. It was kind of funny all the stores advertising drugs for sale. A popular sign we saw was for Viagra. You can get this over the counter here. I joked that I should get Skip some for a souvenir.

coz3.jpg

We went up over the road and then back down.

I got a quick shot of this guy. I think he really wants you to tip him to take his picture.

goldmexican.jpg

And of course we had many vendors asking us to come into their shops. I guess they really don’t have a clue what a group adventure is. Are we really going to stop and buy while the rest of the group goes on?

We made it to our bus and it was already hot and steamy out.

We met Ceasar and he talked the whole way out to the ruins. He was a very good guide and he was very passionate. He also told us the Corona and Dos Equi beers are what Mexicans consider the cruddy beers and pass them off to the Americans. LOL!

A picture of our ticket.

As we drove, I tried to get shots out the window.

When we met back up, Ceasar told us about some special gem stone they sold here. Of course we were able to get a special discount if we wanted to buy one.

Wow, things have changed quite a bit since I've been to Cozomel! I love those ruins & all the Mayan history. Those tiny houses were built for the workers on Cozamel when the Mexican government decided to make the island tourist destination.

I wonder why people wash their feet there?

:woohoo: more updates, more pictures, now going to the DCL site to check out what kind of adventure this is, as it really calls my name. I just love all that stuff! Again, Jen, thanks so much for sharing!

It's a lot different from last time I was there too. But we also docked in a different spot last time too. I believe this is the newer dock and the one that I had docked last time actually was rebuilt after a hurricane. and it was about 13 years ago. LOL

There is a lot of choices, but we chose one that was pretty cheap.

Now that's what interests me. I would love see the ruins. My absolute dream is to go to Scotland and see all the old castles.

I would have definitely gone on that tour!

I know a lady who has her son go to Mexico and get her meds. She says its less than $100 for what she pays here for $2000.
I'd be worried it wasn't the right stuff. I mean, after 4 hours and things are still "up in the air" how do you explain that? :rotfl:

Nice update, I really liked Cozumel when we went there. We went to a national park type place for a beach day, they did have a small Mayan ruin there too but we didn't see it. I found out later it was a really cool thing to see.

We walked through that same plaza when we went to Cozumel. We did a catamaran snorkeling tour there where someone who couldn't swim tried to kill me...good times lol. I love all the photos of the ruins. I would have liked to have done one of those tours. Maybe next time.

Very cool! And probably the only way I could ever get Drew on a Disney cruise. He visited the Mayan ruins right after he graduated and would go back in a heartbeat.

Our first cruise to Cozumel (Norwegian Sun out of Miami) in November 2007 docked at this same pier, Punta Langosta. Either the mall wasn't there, or we weren't forced (by blocked gates and escalators) to go ALL the way through the mall area! On our cruise last January (RCCL Mariner of the Seas out of Galveston), I just assumed we'd be at the same pier (didn't do my research!), so I was quite surprised when we docked at the International Pier about five miles south of downtown! Fortunately taxis are plentiful and rates are set, and we got a good driver who recommended Casa Denis (just off the square downtown) for authentic Yucatan food.

It was really neat. I was so happy we decided to go on this. I was just loving taking it all in.
I want to go to Ireland. I think it looks so beautiful.
I worried about the meds being good enough too. I heard most are, but sometimes they aren't.

That sounds nice too. Is it that Chankobeeb park...Or whatever it is called. LOL

You should start showing him the pictures. I really think you need to get on a cruise!!

I think that other pier is the one we were at too. To get to most anything good you had to taxi to it.

I'm doing a better job keeping up now. At least I'm in the same month as you!

I LOL'd when I read how you got the name of your TR. That really is a funny thing to say and I can just picture her standing outside the bathroom waiting for you. I wouldn't have been able to stop laughing either.

I read that sign you posted and I hope you washed your feet in the right spot:laughing:

I think I would really like to see the ruins too. I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures.

Sometimes the most innocent sayins are just hilarious!

I think that sign was because my guess is that it gets muddly in the ruins after raining. We were ok, but I can see that happening. So I suppose people would go in the bathroom and make a mess there. Total guess on my part, but I think that sounds logical. otherwise, why the heck would I wash my feet there. :rotfl2:

As we gathered around we got some info about this area and the ruins here.

There was a lady in our group who was asking some questions. She looked so familiar and sounded familiar. I got to talking to her a bit and she wasn’t from anywhere that I would know her from, but it bugged me. Finally it dawned on me. I swore she was “Bonnie” from last year’s season of Biggest Loser. She even had a cane, and Bonnie had knee issues. I really thought it was her, but when I got home I asked Bonnie on facebook. Yeah, I have biggest loser people as my friends. LOL! And she said no, it wasn’t her, but she wished it was.
