We are flying into Fort Lauderdale and I booked SAS Transport (by recommendation of others who used them before) It will cost us $15 per person from the airport to hotel in Miami.

Thank you, that is really helpful. I thought they would drop you at a central point. I guess they go round all the hotels of the ones in the transport then. Sounds good.

You do not need to handle your luggage to go with the shuttle other than to get it to the shuttle stop. The driver loads the luggage in the trailer and unloads it port side where the porter will collect it. SAS Transportation. $15 per person plus tip.

We are arriving on the 3rd so need to get to our hotel(which we haven't booked yet) not the port. I guess we will need a taxi on embarkation day from the hotel too. Another recommendation for SAS so that is good, thanks Linda.

Meghatron- I forgot you asked about formal wear for DS. I frequently check zulily. It's a deals website for lot's of things. They had a whole bunch of boy formal wear before christmas. I got him 2 suits for $25 a piece. I thought that was pretty good. I'm just hoping he'll wear them and doesn't spit up on them... but from what I remember by that age DD wasn't really spitting up any more.

Mom and I were discussing a few details regarding sailing with Disney. She asked how much the photo CD is at the end of the trip. Experienced PC travelers - do you remember what the charge was on that trip? :cool1:

OMG! Booked about two weeks ago and posted (thanks for the welcomes) but will never be able to keep up with this group! So sorry in advance for the long post..

Once again, we are Andrea and Greg, 50+ recent empty nesters from Northern Virginia, WBPC will be our 7th DCL although we have cruised on many other lines, DVC members since 1995 when OKW WAS the whole DVC.

Saw some familiar DIS names from the 2010 WBTA--that was a real blast and one of our favorite vacations. Just did a September DCL NYC-Canada cruise with a couple of forever friends we met on that cruise.

We'll be heading down late afternoon on the 5th (found a $95 one way from Dulles-Miami). And thanks to whomever posted about the Miami Comfort suites Bon Voyage package with room, breakfast and transfers from the airport and then to the port, and a bottle of wine for $140 (inc tax)!

http://www.comfortsuitesmiamiairport.com/specials.html

We'll be using DVC points for three night at DLR after the cruise. After checking out the new Carsland at DCA, I think this time we'll rent a car for one day and do the Warner Bros Studio tour.

A couple of Q's:

--Is someone linking DISers for LATE dining? If not, are there any adults who would like to link up?

--Any of you adult 'girls' out there interested in a Champagne Girls meet on one of the days at sea?

Gonna be a great cruise..:cool1:

Just so everyone knows, the airport and port shuttle is free at the Comfort Suites. You don't need to book a special to get that.

Some of us are discussing going to a champagne tasting together. How would a Champagne Girls meet be different? I can't afford to pay by the glass, LOL.

We are also trying to keep up, booked this cruise 3 days ago and just feel that I will never catch up. We are booked to fly into FLL on 5/5 and need help with booking a hotel. I would prefer a hotel with shuttle but am not opposed to doing a rental car for the day sine we arrive at 10:oo am . We were originally booked on the September Panama so all of my energy was focused
on planning that. All tips and suggestions are welcomed!

CD for this length of the cruise is usually $399.

Welcome aboard! About the hotel.... if interested contact sdlong329 (Steven) who is trying to get us a group rate in DoubleTree Grand in Miami which is about 1 mile away from the port. Hotel provided shuttle to the port and it costs $7/person.

We are also looking for a hotel for the 5th. I read somewhere back many pages about a 'group' sort of thing for a lovely hotel. Can anyone please share that info with us?

I'm also looking at comfort suites Free airport and cruise port.

My Mom is interested in something like this...

We're excited to meet all of you in May! Our daughters, 8 & 9, are also excited there are so many kids on board!

We booked Virgin Atlantic from LAX to FLL...$109pp; we're taking a red-eye on the 4th. We're using points for the Hampton Inn FLL North. We found a car service through the hotel for $70, but SAS was our other choice.

Will someone please remind me whom to message for a link to FB? Count me/us in for champagne, or any other adult beverage get-together:bitelip:

Oh, I noticed other mums looking for kid-formal clothes. On RueLaLa, I found kids Lilly P dresses for $20. I found pirate gear on Zulily.

Early diners If you would like to link dining with other dis-ers, please pm your real last name, reservation # and ages of your children. We already have enough for 1 adult table and 1 families table. Put Early dining in the subject line. If you already linked but got a new reservation number, I need that update too.

Welcome!

DD will have her arsenal of Target Disney Princess dresses and fancy dresses I've grabbed for her on clearance. My MIL is making them pirate outfits. My main concern is dressy clothes for my son, who will be 8-9 months when we sail and has such huge growth spurts at odd intervals it's difficult to predict what size he will actually be. I've been trolling eBay for used suits and such.

I don't FACEbook--sorry. Is there anywhere on this thread with a list of DIS-ers who will be cruising?

I've been on several cruises, and some of your DIS names sound familiar, but I was hoping for a list with DIS names and "real" first names.

I am Karen, and I'll be sailing with my adult son Kevin. We will be joined by a group of non-DIS-ers from California who are doing a family trip--they have five cabins booked for their group of 11 adults and 4 girls. Should be great fun for all.

Kevin and I will be renting a car for the one-way trip from Orlando.

Since the DIS is a public forum with no membership required to read all the posts, my real name or those of my family will not be included on any list posted here. If you join the FE, that list is privately emailed out and will have names on it.

My Mom is interested in something like this...

Difinately interested in the CG. All I have to do is pack my boa!

I would be interested!

OK, Champagne Girls is ON!!! :cool1:

Happy Goofy, sounds like you're an experienced DCL CG...;)

FYI: Technically, 'Champagne Girls' just means two or more adult (over 21) girls getting together to drink champagne on a DCL cruise. It started a few years ago on DIS and the tradition just keeps evolving.

It can be hugely complicated, like arranging for a room and paying for tastings OR very simple, like a meeting in a lounge and ordering (or bringing) any beverage you like, alcoholic or not. The only requirement is to enjoy each other's company and have fun. A gathering usually last about an hour or so. For example, on the 2010 WBTA, we had over 40 ladies who each brought their own bottle of champagne; on the NYC-Canda cruise we had about 12 ladies who each ordered whatever they wanted from the bar.

One tradition that marks the gathering as a true 'Champagne Girls' meet is that everyone wears pink and, if they want, a pink feather boa and a tiara. I spare no expense and wear a fabulous fun foam crown I bought at Michael's for $1. Crazy, yes. Fun, for sure. The other tradition is to take a great group picture.

I suggest that we keep it simple:

--All over 21 ladies welcome but adults only. I'll keep a running count of interested ladies.

--Let's plan on the afternoon of second day at sea (Day 4, May 9) at 3:00 pm in the Promenade Lounge. This timing allows everyone to get to know each other early in the cruise.

--Everyone can plan on bringing a drink (bottle?) with them OR ordering from the bar in the lounge. Feel free to bring or order non-alcoholic drinks. 'Champagne Girls' is a state of mind...

--Pack something pink to wear, along with your pink boa and tiara (readily available cheaply online or at places like Michael's, AC Moore, or Total Crafts).

**Please post this info on the first page of this thread and on Facebook (I haven't made it over there yet)...
