While Laura is busy cooking, I anticipate a question she needs to be answered:

Can somebody give some details about the path betweek Jambo and Kidani ?

How long?
What about walking in the night (after dinner) ? Are there lights?
Tks
Grump!

we walked thru the parking lot to the sidewalk at kidani, where the buses pick up.

maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk depending on your speed.

after dinner the lights would be on in the parking lot and bus depot, or you could grab any bus from kidani except DTD all of them go to Jambo after the kidani stop. (except the DTD bus)

Anybody know what a standard 1BR villa is going to give me view wise? I was thinking it was a pool view but now I'm not so sure. Needed to use up the exact amount of points from a canceled trip and this fit the bill.

Can you add me to the list please! We will be there March 11th-14th. Were doing a split stay between BCV and AKV...at first I was more excited to be staying at Beach Club, but after lurking through these threads and seeing pictures I'm so excited to be staying at AK!! We are renting points and staying Kidani in a savana view studio!! 45 more days :)

I would prefer the bus - but I'm sure DGH will like to walk ... :rotfl2: commando style ... :rotfl: so that in 3 minutes we will be at Jambo ...
I will surely be out of breath !!! :faint:
and ::yes:: READY FOR A ZEBRA DOME !!!

We walked it at night a couple of weeks ago after dinner. The pathway is well-lit, there were several other families walking as well, and it took no more than 10 minutes. It's really a nice walk, especially after you're full from a great dinner!

Honestly, based on what others said on the Dis (not necessarily this thread), I had expected the walk between Kidani and Jambo to be the equivalent of a harrowing trek across an actual African savannah. It is so not. It's like if you walked to visit a neighbor a couple of blocks away from your house. Barring any mobility issues, it's really just a quick, nice walk. :thumbsup2

dgbg while we're updating the list could you please add us..3/13-19 WL CL/AKV 1BR split....can't wait!

it closes late, but remember to let them come to room temperature before eating.

As far as I know it will be either pool view or reallocated savanna view (also known as people pen view). There is someone on the DVC board who tries to keep track with the room numbers of those reallocated ones. I think it is mainly those at the very end of the trails or just inside the corners where the trails have branches going off to the side.

Hi all,
I am surprising my best friend with a WDW trip for her 40th birthday and I could use some AK advice.

You see, AK is just way out of my price range so we will be staying at the Dolphin. On our last day, I am planning to check out of our hotel and drive over to AK for breakfast at Boma. Before and after the meal, we will have some item to explore and then we have to get back in the car to head home.

Last time I was there, I spent 2 hours on the observation rocks right behind the lodge and never saw anything but birds. Since then, I have heard that there are other spots in the resort that might be better. Can anybody tell me where in the resort I might have the best luck actually seeing some animals (giraffes are her favorite)?

Are there any good photo spots that we should try? (I mean for pics of US - not animals)

Also, are there any other activities or sights that you would recommend? I heard once that there is a game room with pool and ping pong tables but I don't know anything about it, where it is, what its called, if you need it be an AK guest to use it....

I would appreciate any hints/suggestions to make our last morning at Disney special!

Thanks!!!

What a wonderful surprise for your friend!

I'm sorry you didn't see any animals previously. If it was really hot the animals could have been cooling off in their barns. That's the only thing I can think of. And in cycles throughout the day the CMs take groups to feed. I think I'm remembering that right. There are viewing areas throughout the resort so if they're not on the Arusha Savannah they could be on the other ones. Just pick one of the hallways closest to the observation area and go exploring. And you can always go over to Kidani as well.

I don't know anything about the game room. That sounds like something available to resort guests only.

Thank you! I was just curious. This will be my first 1BR stay so I'm looking forward to it. A nice view would be a total bonus.

Thanks for adding us!!!

Quick question for you all!

Where is your favorite place to watch the animals if you are in a standard room. Last time we stayed we had a savannah view and I loved to have my morning coffee, and relax for a while before bed out there, I am worried I am going to miss seeing them!

If we have friends come visit us for the day can they come to the pool with us? We really will probably sit outside and chat, they have a baby, our kids are little so I don't see us doing activities or anything. Will that be a problem? I don't know if they coming that day or not, just want to be prepared.

For those that have done both, why do you prefer Kidani over Jambo? We stayed in Jambo last time and loved it! We are just two adults so we don't need another bathroom or even more room, and when we went over and visited we were underwhelmed by the entrance compared to Jambo. Wondering which we should request for next time since I'm wondering what we are missing. Thanks! :thumbsup2

...I think that Kidani is more 'intimate', KWIM? Some folks just prefer that....like almost comparing the Swan to the Dolphin....:confused3

They are not allowed in the pool area with a key card for jambo or kidani
