Wilderness lodge or boardwalk inn?

I like that the wilderness lodge is close to magic kingdom, but the rooms at boardwalk inn are a bit larger. How difficult is it to get to magic kingdom fom boardwalk inn? Or is wilderness a better choice? We are going with a 7 year old girl.

WL by far!! It IS fantastic....Very Americana..I dont dislike the boardwalk...its just not the WL or CR.

It's not difficult to get to MK from BWI, but it's not as convenient as it would be from WL. From BWI, you only have to hassle with the buses to two of the four parks - MK and AK. BWI also often shares buses with the other Epcot area resorts (YC/BC, Swan & Dolphin) which can make for a longer bus ride. WL on the other hand, not only has a bus to MK which takes 5 minutes but also the boat which is very convenient. IMO, the difference in room size won't be noticeable, plus you'd save a few bucks with WL.

Man the boardwalk kicks WL right in the tail. It's not even close.

Food court is better at WL especially with having a 7 year old. With that being said i personally like Boardwalk better, due to I live in the midwest and WL is too much like our at home water park/hotels....Also does she like clowns? Boardwalk pool is clown orientated, AND check pool closures. I know Boardwalk pool is closed for awhile. Along with I think the walk up bakery...

Since the refurbishment at WL last year, the rooms are all painted a very light ivory color, so they are not dark at all. The beds now have white duvet covers instead of the dark spreads too. The lobby itself is darker because of the wood, but the rooms are not. I have no opinion on the pools, other than to say the clown at BW does not bother me in the least.

I like to stay at both BWI/BWV and WL. I stayed at BW in December and WL earlier this month, as a matter of fact. I have another stay at each booked for later this year as well. I stay at BW when I plan on focusing more on Epcot and DHS, and I stay at WL when I plan on focusing more on MK. So I would give a lot of consideration to where you will be spending most of your time. If you are planning to spend more time at MK than anywhere else, go with WL. If you are planning to spend your time more evenly between the parks, then the advantage of walking to two parks is a big one.

I haven't had any problems with the buses at either resort. WL sometimes shares with other resorts, and BW always shares with at least the S&D, so either way, you will be stopping at other resorts at some point in your travels.

Had similar dilemma this year picking btwn the WL and BC. We have stayed at the WL before and loved it - but, with Splash Mountain closed when we are there this year (DS's favorite ride of all time), we decided to do BC to try the huge pool (more like water park) to make up for it. I'm more of a MK resort person and love the quietness of WL. Plus, you have quick access to FW, Contemporary, etc. in addition to MK. But I've heard such great things about BC/BW we decided to do that. We stayed at Swan last yr to try Epcot area and it's very vibrant and night and fun to walk around in the morning on the way to the parks along the lake, etc...more of a big resort area feel. So pluses to both. For us the 30% off at BC promo made it cheaper than WL this yr too.

I agree. We haven't stayed at BWI but we have stayed at the BC and during our stay, the buses were shared among all 5 resorts for our entire stay (and we there during a pretty busy time). But with that said, the buses, IMO, are hit or miss as some have experienced sharing between 2 resorts, while others have seen sharing among a few resorts or all of them. As far as the rooms, I think the Epcot resort rooms are all comparable in size and our BC room was a little bigger than our room at the WL, but it wasn't that much bigger to us that an Epcot resort would be chosen over WL due to the size of the room. As others have said, if MK is your main focus, the WL would be the better choice as it's very convenient to MK via boat or bus. Good luck.

I have stayed since the refurbishment. The rooms are still dark. I like WL, and I will stay there again... but given a choice I would go with BWI.

You will love the WL....it's a beautiful resort . BC stands for Beach Club Resort, which is the sister resort of the Yacht Club and is across the lake from Boardwalk Inn.

Congratulations on booking today. I don't know if it was mentioned, but WL has a non-stop bus to the MK - it doesn't stop at any other resorts. Also, we did a BWI/WL split last year and that worked out well, though we still prefer the MK resorts area. Happy planning!
