Will they pull Lance Armstrong from American Adventure montage?

It would cost them money to change it, so unless there's a massive negative publicity campaign against the attraction, I doubt it'll be changed.

ETA: Also, Tiger is a very good example of what having a supporting family (his mom and dad), and what personal perseverance and dedication can get you. If you want to be the best, here's how. Let's see how that translates for Lance?

Lance: If you want to be the best use ILLEGAL, PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS.

Well, my first thought was no, that they wouldn't re-do the montage until they are ready for a refurb again.

But then I got to thinking that if the movie was in digital form as opposed to the old film format, it might not be so difficult to make changes to the montage. They may have a bunch of photos stored in a database that the computer mixed in a montage format. If they just have to delete a photo (or replace it with another one) it might not be as big a deal as it was to re-do the old film format montage.

To be honest, I didn't know who he was in the montage until all this came up - but I'm not a big follower of sports anyway.

Yes. We will indeed have to agree to disagree.

To me, a much better role model is a guy who warms the bench his entire career, and does it with moral fortitude.

I agree with you. They both cheated. They just cheated different folks.

I heard from insiders that it won't take long to edit out Armstrong. They have already picked the footage they are replacing him with. It includes footage of Manti Te'o.

I'm going to have to agree on this one. I'm not really trying to get into the debate, but Disney probably has a lot more on their mind right now than this film that a lot of people at Disney either haven't seen, don't care about, don't remember, or all of the above, lol. Maybe eventually they will if they plan to do other refurbishments/changes to the attraction, but otherwise I doubt it. I mean, after watching the movie I pretty quickly forgot about it and moved on to the next country, so it doesn't mean much to me that it's still part of the movie. And when at Epcot, who really goes to enjoy the American Experience?

Jackson didn't settle his molestation charges, he settled a civil suit. Very different things. When he faced charges and was tried in criminal court, he was found innocent of all charges.
.

just like OJ... where is his 3D movie?

I loooove the American Adventure!! (I hope you dont mean the American Idol Experience??) I think Epcot's American Adventure is one of the best attractions in parks ... but that's a debate for another thread.

Agreed.

From the very beginning, it was designed to be the crown jewel of World Showcase.
At the time it was built, the designers of the American Adventure were given the largest budget of any attraction at WDW.

I wouldn't put Tiger in the Husband Hall of Fame, but he will forever be remembered as an amazing golfer, which is his right.

Lance should not be honored for athletic achievement. He cheated. He didn't achieve those things honestly.

I think Livestrong is a great organization with a really good website. He did a lot of good there. He gets credit for that.

But who really cares about bicycling, anyway? Other than Lance, I couldn't name a single cyclist.

When he faced charges and was tried in criminal court, he was found innocent of all charges.

He was found "not guilty" which is very different than being found innocent. Just means that he is either innocent or that they weren't able to prove it (think OJ or Casey Anthony) or they had a really stupid jury (think OJ or Casey Anthony). Personally, MJ's talking about sleeping with children being a beautiful thing was just too creepy for me.

If my child claimed he/she was being molested I would not settle for ANY amount of money!

Anyone ever wonder if old Lance made up the whole cancer thing??

Sadly, yes. And even worse, he had also convinced a football player that he was his girlfriend and had died from the cancer.

Sorry, probably shouldn't joke about it but old Lance has destroyed other people's lives in the wake of his corruption for absolute power and fame so I don't really hold back at least in his case.

I rarely critique Disney attractions, because I truly believe there should be something for everyone's taste. However, when we saw this in December, knowing Tiger's story and prior to Lance's debacle, both DH and I agreed it was showing dated, especially for those of us who go every year. There is a huge gap from the film's ending to current day and so many more American heroes than Lance deserve airtime. I dont' believe it would be that difficult to splice in a new final 2 minutes to the ending.
