And, Dee, I've always wondered....you do such an AWESOME job on this thread. If you don't mind me asking....how did you get the role as caretaker of the YC / BC thread?? However it happened, they certainly picked the right person for the job!!! And, if that question is too personal, just ignore it and I'll never ask again. (But, I'll still continue to admire your quick wit, your responsiveness, and your accuracy...so there!)

Great question! And thanks for the compliments!

I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but I have a chronic condition. Whenever someones starts a sentence saying "Can you ...?", my hand involuntarily shoots up into the air and I am unable to mouth the word "N." There is no known cure!

About 3 weeks after my second trip to the Beach Club, the FAQ thread got closed down because it was too large (269 pages). The person who was the last caretaker of the thread had not been active for awhile, and a bunch of the photos on the thread had been moved or expired.

2010 Beach and Yacht Club FAQ(June 2008- August 2010)

Having just returned from a trip, I had many of the pictures needed, so I copied off all of the info that was there into a new thread and added in my pictures. And then I did some major remodeling!

I may be a teeny tiny bit OCD, :lmao: and the organization of the prior thread was driving me crazy, so I added lots of sections and lots of info.

Frankly, with only two trips to the resort under my belt, I am by no means an expert. What I know about the resorts I learned here! Fortunately, we have lots of loyal, friendly people who hang out on this thread and I can't even begin to say how helpful it is to have Teena posting here!

I put in lots of requests for pictures and information from others and many people have volunteered to go on information missions during their trips. Pixarmom has taken a task list mounted on index cards for every trip she has taken since knowing me!

I am lucky that having a very part time job allows me to devote a lot of time to my volunteer efforts. I work as a museum/historical teacher at a farm-we have a horse, a donkey, several goats and sheep, roosters, a turkey, a pig, a cat and a bunny- all rescue animals- who will live the rest of their lives on the farm being ambassadors to visiting children and other members of the public. The stone manor on the property was built in 1690 and has had some fascinating inhabitants over the years. Students come in for A Day at the Farm, an archaeology program (Dirt Detectives), a historical fiction program or sometimes we go into classrooms- lots of Colonial fun!

So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

She drew the short straw. Taking care of this thread is part of her work release program from the PTA prison system. She served hard time in the bake sale unit, was moved to school trip chaperone... and after she didn't try to make a break on her one trip she was given the yellow jump suit and made a trustee of the thread.

She twitches a lot, especially after her fourth cuppa coffee, but prison officials don't believe she is going to get paroled any time soon, so I think we are safe!

That's my story and I'm sticking with it! ;)

You posted while I was writing.

I like your story better!

Thank you!! Feel free to post any questions and I will be glad to answer as I find time to check in here every once in a while. :)

We are on our final countdown. One week from tonight we begin our drive down for our first YC stay! Can you please make sure we have WARM weather??? :drive::cool1:

Good thoughts heading your way! We're going August 31, if you get some extra cool, can you save it for me to use when I get there?

I love the creative of this theory!!! Lol

Dee, your timing is perfect! I just finished up the index cards with our plans and ADRs for each day. And now, I'm working on my BC/YC mission list! I would really like for all things Hurricane Hanna's to be at the top of that list, but I need Hurricane Hanna's to cooperate. And thanks to the Luna Park closure, I'm going to make yet another attempt to photograph ALL three SAB hot tubs. (Wait . . . I haven't cheered for the Luna Park closure / SAB access in this post yet . . . :cheer2:) Are we running out of missions? Perhaps a golf-cartless photo of the jib slide? Hee hee.

I love so many things about our thread: Dee gathers a ton of important information, keeps everything SO organized and welcomes each and every poster. Teena provides the best insider info around. And we BC/YC fans love to share as much as we can about our favorite resort. And while many of us mix it up a bit by staying in (and enjoying!) other resorts, we always come back home to BC/YC. :)

P.S. Speaking of photos, just located a photo of a pre-marriage, pre-kids me in 1992 actually sleeping in a lounge chair at SAB. I do not recall said sleeping at SAB, but my parents and my brother claim this happened. Quite a funny contrast to present day, where I'm chasing three boys!

Happy trips to all who have taken off or are about to!

Ok, another balcony question :-)

At the Beach Club, I noticed in a picture it shows the full balcony's, with the smaller balcony's above them. When you are sitting on your full balcony, is there a roof, or are the people with standing balconies directly above you? Is the full balcony private at all?

Thank you all for the well wishes! We are on the Magical Express bus now waiting to leave the airport after a smooth flight. We've been sitting on the bus for over 20 mins already and I will not be too pleased if we do not head out soon. Is it usually this long a wait to depart or is it likely just due to our late arrival? This is our first time using ME, so not sure what is typical.

Hopefully things look up from here! :)

It tends to sit for awhile sometimes. It also stops at other resorts besides yours. Hopefully you'll be at your resort by the time you read this. :)

We have had the luck of the draw, with five stays at BC, and five Juliette balconies. :rotfl: When standing on the Juliette balcony, you can see down into peoples full balconies below. But, to be quite honest, when you have a Juliette balconey, not much time is spent on them b/c of their lack of space, so no need to worry too much about people peeping at you from above. The full balconies aren't exactly private, because when you don't have someone above you, there are people across and next to you as well. Just enjoy the fact that you have a full balcony and don't do anything on it you would want privacy for :lmao:

Well I'd like to thank you and everyone else involved in this thread, its great and you're all so helpful :). I still can't book at the moment, DD is going to be a CM on the ICP during the summer and we've got to wait to find out how we can book to get her discount. I'm 90% sure we'll be staying at the BC, if not that it will be the BW where we stayed last year.
