What is one of the 'less than perfect' items you've bought at disney?

I have a keychain from DLR that just won't stay attached, no matter how we try to keep it on.

DS's tshirt from a Disneyland trip a couple years ago had this fun glitter effect in some spots, and all of that came off with the first wash. I called in about it and the CM said it was a very common problem and sent us a new one, but the same thing happened again, so it didn't seem worth it.

A friend gave me a travel mug that leaked anytime I tried to use it. The seal just wasn't very good, so it was useless. My friend took it back to DLR on a visit and was able to exchange it, and the new one doesn't leak, so it appears to have just been a problem with that specific mug and not the line in general.

And I totally agree with the sizing on women's clothes! Good grief - I'm 4'10", 110lbs and small chested, and there's no way I should need a size L unless I'm buying from the children's department. But the M shirt I bought 2 trips ago is too tight and too SHORT! Seriously, how do you get a women's size M to be too short on a woman under 5 ft tall?!

Pinocchio Christmas ornament, I didn't even leave the world yet and it had already broken! No kids around just my DH and I. I was sitting on a couch and it dropped while I was packing it up to go home on CARPETED floor. It only fell perhaps 2 ft and one of the legs broke. Not good workmanship at all. Sadly disappointed.

Another article that I had bought was a woman's t-shirt that was too small. I wear a large, and this was an extra lg. It looked like I had tried to fit into a kids t-shirt!!
I paid close to $30 and had to give it away to one of my students since I could no longer wear it. Again, very disappointed.

So glad that I am not the only one with the sizing issue either! I too am short and I was perplexed when the t-shirt didn't fit.

I have spent more money than I care to admit on Disney Park stuff - the ONE and only thing I bought that has been a *fail* is the silicone Mickey ice cube tray - cannot get those ice cube out!! Drives me nutso! Last trip I saw the really cute Vinylmation ice cube tray and sooo wanted to get it..but DH reminded me of all the arguments I had with the Mickey one..so I passed.

I bought a 2011 travel coffee mug that had like a black soft part on the bottom to protect the surface you sat it on. It said not to put it in the dishwasher, so I hand washed it. I let it dry and then filled it with coffee, which immediately began seeping through the bottom and all over my countertop. I was so annoyed. Especially because, how do you return something once you're home? Is it even possible?

I agree with the shirts. Last time we went my husband wanted me to get a women's shirt. I told him there was no way that any of them would fit me. So I bought one of the men's t-shirts. Yeah, I'm 5'8... none of those shirts would fit. But, the men's t-shirt is still doing great after 2 years.

So far the only thing that my kids ever want are stuffed animals. They have all been fine. All the magnets we have bought have been fine also.

I forgot about the Mickey hand potholder - that was a gift from a friend for DH, and we quickly discovered how incredibly useless it is! It's in the toy box now.

That's exactly what I think everytime I see those tiny little tops! I have a lot of tall friends and I just think how awful that Disney can't come up with something to fit real women sizes!!

Thought of something else- bought a 4 world park coffee mug and the plastic on the outside leaks so that it doesn't protect the paper inside. It looks terrible! Too much condensation and I use it at school so you can't blame a dishwasher on that since everything is washed by hand in the sink.

I bought the fun coffee mug with the seagulls from Nemo saying "mine, mine, mine.." They all washed off in the first washing, and I followed directions for cleaning.

My Polynesian mug is washing off too. It's lasting longer than the Nemo one, but I'm bummed it isn't holding up.

I have other Disney mugs that are still great. Depends on the design I guess.

Smartest thing I do on my WDW trips is not to buy souvenirs!

Last trip, I took tons of photos at the gift shops and put them in a Facebook album called "souvenirs I did not buy at WDW".

We always take pictures of the stuff we find that we like in the gift shops, and then on the last day we look through them all to decide on the one thing we each want to get. It's fun to have the pictures to remember the cute stuff, and it also stops DS from hassling me to buy everything. I also take pictures of the price tags and the shop signs, after one trip when I couldn't remember where I saw the Mater shirt DS REALLY wanted. It was very helpful to have all that when I had to call in about getting DS's shirt replaced a couple years ago!

I buy a souvenir mug for my coffee every trip. Last trip I bought a Kidani mug and after 3 washings the painted detailing is almost completely gone - now it is pretty much just a plain brown mug.

YES! We always get at least one mug on each trip. Last year we bought a DVC Logo mug at Kidani and the decal began peeling off after the first time in the dishwasher. We also bought a One Man's Dream themed coffee mug at MGM which lasted for a few months and then the handle cracked off. What I don't get is that we still have several mugs from WDW we have had for at least 10 years. It seems to show a lack of quality is growing.

Love this idea!!

We don't buy any souvenirs since we moved to FL because we are there all the time. The only exception is an annual Christmas ornament.

I'm going to have a facebook album like yours soon, though!

A set of 4 adorable notepads that are supposed to be self-stick like post-it notes. Unfortunately they do not stick - so they fall off over everything unless you use tape. Sort of defeats the purpose of "self-stick" (and reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with George and the label maker )

Yep, I bought some "non-stick" sticky notes too! They are very cute though.

What I don't get is that we still have several mugs from WDW we have had for at least 10 years. It seems to show a lack of quality is growing.

We have quite a few mugs from 2002 and earlier that are in pristine shape. They are used often and have been through the dishwasher a million times. The colors are vibrant and they look new.

I think you are right that the quality is declining. Glad that was the last trip that we bought souvenirs.

We had the exact same problem with our Nemo seagull travel mug. My husband was SO disappointed. Hoping that we can exchange it on our next trip.

Otherwise, we've been pretty lucky. DD always picks out a princess doll and those have held up great and the Cars character cars we bought, while expensive, have not been broken by my 21-month-old. I don't really love character clothing so am seldom tempted to get a shirt, but I did purchase a Run Disney shirt that has held up well and fits true to size. Otherwise, I only get a silhouette of the kids, though we've had minor issues in the last 2 trips with those. The first time we had an issue, the artist did a terrible job but we were able to go to another and have it redone. The second time, the artist was terribly surly and didn't line up the two heads quite right in gluing them down. (Again, minor, just a little annoying.)
