june 1, 2013 magic med 7 day

Yeah me too...I still go back and forth about ABD and planning on my own. I am so confused. I want my dd7 (will be 8) to enjoy but not be bored. Not sure if ABD will be better and worth the expense or if I should plan on my own. I have been to Europe and did it on my own, and loved the planning but it was for 2 adults and we didn't mind the travel.

HELP!!!

I love planning but still so confused.

This is exactly how I feel! DH and I took advantage of low fares from 2002-2005 and did Europe by ourselves a bunch of times...never planned anything thing and wandered around Museums/Parks/Streets/Restaurants all day.

We now have 2 kids and I'm so confused---how do I plan my day? How much wandering can they handle, etc? We'll also be with my parents who are older so I'm not sure wandering around is for them. Can't do it the way we used to, that's for sure. :)

My group will be Me, DH, DD (age 4), DD (age 1), my parents, my aunt, my brother & sis-in-law.

Hoping someone else on here has a DD around my daughter's age so she can make a friend for Oceaneer's Club. We did the Alaskan Cruise in June 2012 and there weren't very many kids in the club her age so she didn't stay long. We're hoping she'll try the club out again. Looking forward to meeting some DIS folks!

Welcome heathervincent. I see there are a few people now with girls around the same age as my DD. She is 10 now but will turn 11 before the cruise. She is pretty shy at first but she loves to email, so heathervincent, krispykreme, and anyone else who might have a DD of similar age, let's get them in contact so they can hang out on 'at sea' days and maybe give the grown ups a few minutes where we don't have to worry about entertaining them! Send me a PM. :thumbsup2

Tinkertaylor, we've got our excursions planned out and I agree, it's a bit challenging to figure out what they'll enjoy, how long they'll have energy, and combine that with everything I want to see. I did check out Barcelona and Rome DVD's from our library to show the family and get them excited. I was glad I watched them first! The BCN one was absolutely great and I think we'll watch it together this weekend but the Rome one almost put me to sleep - it was all soft music and video of ruin, after ruin, after ruin, with soft spoken narration. (yawn). The kids will refuse to leave the ship if I show that to them. So I'm going back to the library to choose a different version.

My granddaughter Isla is almost 11. I will let her know about DD and hopefully they can all get to know each other a wee before the cruise.

What is a fish extender?

I didn't know either and "googled" it. Then I was told to check out the first post on this thread which has links to this information. You can make one yourself or buy them from ebay.com. However, I found them expensive as I would have to pay postage to UK. They are not popular in the UK but I did manage to find one on ebay.co.uk costing $6! You get what you pay for as they say and it's certainly not as nice as those from the States, but it will do the job hopefully!

It seems as a new member I have to make 10 posts before I can send any personal messages. Please bare with me only a few more to go lol.

Hi I've booked my hotel pre cruise it's travel lodge really cheap and really good cost me 45pounds for the 4 of us in a family room I've been there twice, it's a 15 min taxi ride to the cruise terminal.

That's a bargain! Nice and close to terminal too double win :goodvibes

For pre cruise we booked Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel and after the cruise we have booked Hotel Jazz

Did a lot of research so I hope these 2 work out for us.

Anybody else staying at these hotels??

As others said Ive read some really good reviews on hotel Jazz :thumbsup2

sorry to say, we had to cancel...:( just not in the cards for us this year. have a great cruise. :)

Sorry you won't be joining us, hopefully next time :wizard:

I wouldn't worry about the fe people seem to use anything, even just hanging a bag out. I ended up sewing one as couldn't find anything on ebay uk, looking forward to taking part :cool1:

Thanks for that, I was having second thoughts about it not looking the part.

Hi,

Any one interested in sharing an excursion to Rome by Stefano Rome Tours? Here is the link http://www.stefanorometours.com/tours/christianrome/. We have 2 adults. So if there are 4 more people (6 total) the cost would be ~ $119/each at current exchange rate. Or for 6 more people (8 total) the cost would be ~ $98/each at current exchange rate.

Let me know.

For anyone who maybe interested I emailed Stefano Rome Tours and they still have spaces on their Rome Tours.

May I ask how many people have signed up for FE so far?

We're really interested, but we're constrained by our luggage space and we can't participate if there's *too* many cabins signed up. I just won't have enough space to bring the FE gifts. We're traveling with a toddler still eating toddler snacks and a baby still using bottles so that's all of our luggage space lol :)

I think there's talk of starting a new group at 15? I'll let Annemarie confirm that, they're totally on the ball organising it :worship:

Hello :)

We have had 12 cabins sign up so far and the general opinion is that 15 will be a manageable number. Then we will make a second group will new sign ups.
The first group will also contain the people that need an earlier cut off date as some people are leaving earlier than most to travel to Barcelona.

I will begin emailing the spreadsheet to all participants over the weekend :)

For all UK people looking for a FE, Ikea sell a lovely cream one with nautical style tassles that could be accessorised. And it's only £3.50!!!
Here's the link.......

This all sounds good to me, thank you and to everyone else involved in organising the exchange.

I checked out the Ikea link and this is absolutely ideal, again many thanks. I am getting quite excited now. Once I get the list I will be raring to go lol

Fish Extender update

We now have 16 cabins signed up, so I will be looking to make at least two groups.

The first group will have an earlier cut off date so that people leaving to travel to Barcelona earlier than the rest of us will still have time to prepare their gifts.

If you would like to join more than one group then p,ease remember to let me know.

This is the list of names I have so far participating

Tinkertaylor05

Disneymam

kikids

wildel1021

newmommie77

DisneyMouseHouse

goofs

Absmom05

Gotomu212

FRENCHTINK - 3 staterooms

F2superstar - 2 staterooms

If your name is not listed and you've sent me an email please can you pm me with your details again as they may have gotten lost :)

We're not participating in the FE, but I appreciate your work on it!

Hi! I just sent an email to the address listed on the trip website in post #1. My family would love to join a fish extender group. In the email I sent all the info requested. This is our 6th Disney cruise, but first time to participate in the exchange. We're looking forward to it!

Hi All,

My wife Richlyn and I (Bob) are booked. This will be our 18th DCL cruise. Never done Med cruise. We will be coming in on the Trans Atlantic. Booked on ABD for shore excursions. Anyone have experience with ABD?
