Difference between Bakery and Confectionery?

This next trip, we will be visiting the Main Street Bakery or the Main Street Confectionery (or both :hyper:) for the first time. I can't believe we've never been! Anyway, they both sound kind of similar. What are the differences between the two? Is there food different, or mostly bakery type snacks? Which is your personal favorite out of the two? Finally, what are some of your must-eat food items at either restaurant? Thanks!

A Bakery sells baked goods like pastries.
A Confectionary sells candies.

At the bakery, you can buy things such as cinnamon rolls. At the confectionary, you would be able to buy things like pepperming sticks and gummy bears (or mice;))

I like the bakery....they have excellent cheesecake and cupcakes. The cupcakes are sometimes dry....but most of the time they are good.

Here is a menu for the bakery: All Ears Menu

Last year they had raspberry cheesecake...it was good.

At the Bakery, they do have some sandwiches, so you can make a meal there with a sandwich, chips, dessert, and drink.

At the Confectionery, they do often have some cupcakes or cookies, but it's primarily candy items, either prepackaged candies or specialty candies in the case.

Not to get off topic but don't ya just wish you could have your home smell just like the confectionery store?! To me that scent IS Main St. U.S.A. Now why can't Glade or Febreeze make something that smells like that?

The candy store is just that the candy store . My DD is 26 and loves the one in DTD. Goofys is a must stop every night on our trip . How she is a size 4 I have no idea :confused3

The Bakery is in fact a counter service restaraunt (with limited menu & seating), the Confectionary is not, it's simply a retail outlet that sells candies (and smells DIVINE!)

Does anyone know if the Main Street Confectionary will remain open during the bakery refurbishment? I didn't realize the two were independent of each other.

Thanks!

The Confectionary used to sell only candy items. Now they have tons of Rice Krispy treats, cupcakes and cookies. A total waste of counter space. They have seriously reduced the amount of candies they used to sell. Hardly any chocolates, like chocolate Mickey turtles, chocolate covered marshmallows with caramel bars. They might as well rename it the Bakery 2.

And too many prepackaged items.

Plus the fudge is laughable now.
