Palo Dessert Only

I read a few years ago on the boards, that you can sit at the bar in Palo and order drinks and/or dessert only. Is that still the case? I have sailed several times and have never tried it. So I was wondering if that is still true! Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

There is a bar between Palo and Remy on the Dream and Fantasy. You can go there anytime for a drink. They might have some food items, but I don't know.

There is a small bar in Palo on the Magic and Wonder. I asked about it a couple months ago, but I can't remember the answer. It might be used just for people waiting for their table. However, if a well dressed couple were to stop in to Palo during a slow time, and ask to sit at the bar, who knows?

It has been MANY years since I've seen this in Palo.

As above, Meridien is a bar area between Palo and Remy on the new ships where you can stop in for liquid refreshments....but no desserts from the restaurants.

We did this in December on the Wonder, as guests of an employee. Just drinks and a souffle.

The chocolate souffle??? I've been wanting to try this, but have no interest in the Palo dinner menu. Are you saying I can just get the souffle, with a drink at the bar on the classic ships? I would do that in a heartbeat!

AFAIK, like kcashner said, the sitting at the bar/dessert & drink thing is something I've never seen in Palo since I've started cruising with DCL in 2008.

Started With a Mouse - did you sit at the bar? Or at a table?

:cutie:

I think the key to the person's post is that they were at Palo as a guest of an employee. That is likely the only reason they were able to do this. As noted above, this practice has been discontinued for guests as an option. It's not like they have them ready and can just pop them out of the oven. We always tell them when we first meet our server at the beginning of dinner.

When we did Palo dinner, the server asked if we might be considering the souffle for dessert, because it takes 45 minutes to do it and they like to have the heads up in preparing it.

You could go to the bar on the Magic or Wonder, just to have a drink, but you couldn't order any food. I've gone in there before just to have a martini. They have no problem with that. They found out it was my birthday and they gave me a plate with Happy Birthday written on it in chocolate. No food, just the plate.

Years ago, you could order dessert, but they did away with that.

I have heard of exceptions...but it's not a regular thing anymore.

Which is why the first thing I say to our server when they come to the table is hello, I would like a sprite and we will be having the souffle this evening. :thumbsup2
