HELLO everyone! This is my first ever PTR and I am very excited to do one. I have read so many wonderful PRT and TR that I wanted to start doing them. So lets get started.

This trip has been in the making for 8 years. Why 8 years you asks, well that is how long it took for the little man that this trip is meant for to come along. Now I just love the whole princess thing so having a boy I now have to start to like all that boy stuff like Legos and Star Wars and pirates. I do have to say that Sharkey and Bones can really get me dancing though. Well with all that said I think that I should now introduce the cast of this PTR.

Drum roll please... :rockband:

First off is my DH, MICAH. He is 40 years old and a wonderful Husband and more importantly an outstanding Dad. He works really hard for our family so that I can be a stay at home Mom. Micah went only once to the MK and DHS before he meet me, and since we have been together and married we have gone 4 times including part of our Honeymoon. He thinks that I am Disney crazy (I am) but I dont think he would have it any other way. Micah loves Golf, and Fantasy Football and of course the Green Bay Packers. (I am a Tennessee Titans fan, so that makes that match up fun in our house)

Favorite Disney Movie: Toy Story
Favorite Disney Song: When you wish upon a star
Favorite Disney Ride: Splash Mountain
Favorite Disney Character: The Green Army Men (He thinks they say funny things):confused3

Okay next up is me. My name is Jill and I am 34 years old and I live and breathe Disney. I am on this site all day every day. I just cant get enough. I am a stay at home mom who loves cooking, baking, shopping, fantasy football and playing with my son. I love to make fun and cute Disney itineraries for all our Disney trips. Again my DH thinks that I am crazy, but he does say that they come in handy at times. I have been to Disney at least 15 times in my life. This to me is not enough and I know that now that we have DS, we will be going a lot more. I am always trying to get Micah to get a job transfer to Florida so that we can go whenever we want, but so far he is not moving ;)

And now the star of the PTR, MASON!!!!!! Mason is 20 months and the love of my life. He is so outstanding in every way. I know that I said that I was hoping for a girl, but I could not have been happier with this little boy. I guess God knows better than you do. He loves to dance. We have dance parties together all the time during the day. He is just going to love all the music at Disney.

 Yeah!!! Glad you found me. I am so thankful for your help. I had to let everyone know. Thank you for saying that Mason is adorable. Funny thing is that he knows it too! Mason has alot of pressure on him to make sure that this trip is everything I hope it will be :lmao: Will he live up to it??? We will have to see. I really love your TR. They are so funny. I hope mine can be half as good.

Now that you have met the gang, we can start will all the details.

DATE: My favorite times to go to Disney are: End of October, the first part of November, and the first week or so of December. In 2010 we went while I was 10 weeks pregnant and we did the last MNSSHP and 1st MVMCP in the same trip. That was great!!! I know that someday we will do that again with Mason. For this trip we decided that end of October start of November would be perfect for us. I would love to go to MNSSHP, but not sure if Mason will be up to it. Have to wait and see. We also did not rule out the first week of December. Now all I needed to do was wait for a Room Only Discount Code for somewhere around that time frame. We also decided that 6 nights would be a perfect amount for this family trip.

LOCATION: I have been on this site for a long time and have read so many ins and outs of Disney I can’t even tell you. Everyone has such outstanding information on here. So with that being said I know that the choice of resorts would be easy. We would be picking a Monorail Resort for sure. Now which one you ask? Well that was still up in the air. We have the choice of three.

Grand Floridian:

grand-floridian300x169_zps551107ae.jpg

I knew that the Grand Floridian was not something that we would want this trip, so that one is out.

Now we are left with two.

Contemporary Resort:

contemporary-resort300x169_zps020d555b.jpg

I do love the Contemporary Resort. I love the modern look of the rooms and I love the iconic building itself. I also am a big fan of watching the fireworks from the California grill with a nice glass of wine in hand. Other pluses for me would be Chef Mickeys for Breakfast and the Contempo Café for a snack or quick meal. I like being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom if we wanted. I do enjoy the monorail going through the building. The pool to me is okay, nothing really special.

Polynesian Resort:

polynesian-resort-gallery04300x169_zpsfc2276cf.jpg

Staying at the Polynesian to me, would be like having two vacations in one. It looks so quiet, pretty and peaceful. Micah and I have always said that we will stay here sometime. We just love it. A few things that I know I would love would be Dole Whips whenever I would want them. A Lupa Lupa on the beach watching Wishes would be outstanding. After I eat too much at Ohana it would be a short walk to our room for a nap. We can walk to TTC and get to Epcot really easy. The pool seems a little better here for Mason. I do worry that rooms are pretty dark. But again we would be going right after the big remodel, so that is really nice. The Contemporary would be on the cheaper end if we would get the GW SV, so that is another plus. And at this time I do not have any discount codes yet to use. Hum what to choice what to choice.

Well it is down to a Standard Garden View room at the Poly or Garden Wing Standard View at the Contemporary. And the winner is……..

polynesian-resort-gallery04300x169_zpsfc2276cf.jpg

:cheer2:Polynesian:cheer2:

We talked about what would be good for us and we came up with the……..POLYNESIAN!!! We could not be happier with our choice.

HOW WE ARE GETTING THERE: Well at first DH and I thought we would love to drive. DH would take 2 weeks and we could go other places on the way back. It would be about 21 hours for us to get to Disney. I am a little worried that Mason would hate this idea. He is a great car rider, but I think even the best kids might not like this. We would split it up and stay over 2 nights and hopefully get to Disney around 10:00 a.m. on the 3rd day. We would have to rent a car since we don’t want to put the wear and tear on ours. We had a lot of pros and cons on driving, but in the end we decided to fly. I am worried since Mason has yet to take a plane anywhere. I never want to be that parent with a screaming kid on a 2.5 hour flight. I will say that Mason is very well behaved and has yet to every have any melt down in public or really at home for that matter. But I am still worried with the pressure how that would affect him and being stuck in a sit for 2.5 hours. IF ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE ME SOME POINTERS ON FLYING WITH A 2 YEAR OLD IT WOULD BE APRECAITED GREATLY! We are hoping to get a good deal on a non-stop flight on Southwest. I hate paying for my bags.

Well we have the location and how we are going to get there locked and loaded. We also have the range of dates that we would like to go. So now it is time to change this around. LOL, as you all can see from my ticker, we might be going a little earlier than planned. And we might have changed rooms or location too!

Stay tuned for the next update!

WooHoo for making your decisions!! We will be at the Poly this trip too :cool1:

As for flying, don't worry too much. I have flown with all three kids at varying ages of babyhood and a few times with more than one in a car seat. The key is to be prepared. First of all, I highly suggest him having his own seat and bringing his car seat on board. He will sit in it and assume he can't get up, just as he does in the car (and 2.5 hours would be nothing compared to having him sit the whole time you drive).

Then make sure you bring books, toys, an ipad if you let him use something like that, etc. to keep him entertained. Snacks and drinks as well. As for the pressure, there isn't too much you can do. If he takes a pacifier, this is the time to use it in public even if you have an issue with that! I'm going to assume he's off a bottle, but a sippy cup will work. Just make sure he's thirsty. The pressure bothers them on take off and landing but should be fine once you are up. A lot of kids just fall asleep since they feel like they are in the car.

If he's sniffly or has a cold, definitely have his ears checked for fluid before you leave, and ask your ped. if you can give him anything.

I'm sure he will be great!

Thank you for all the great info. :) I already have started a bag full of stuff for the plane for him. I think that we are going to take his carseat. I know it will be a pain for us, but it will be better for him.

Loving your PTR. Congrats on picking the Poly! :thumbsup2

I just cant wait

The Polynesian will be wonderful! I didn't realize they were doing room refurbs. Cool!

I am very excited to see the new rooms!!!!
Subbing and congrats on picking the Ploy, I am sure you will love it:goodvibes

How awesome you'll be staying at the Polynesian!!! My family stayed there all the time when my sisters and I were younger. I just love it there.

Can't wait for more!

Well at the end of last year I remember getting an email about room only discount good up until the 28th of September. Well I never thought much about it since I did not want to go at any of those times. The first part of this year was just too soon to go. Then we would be getting into spring break and Easter. And then summer with the VERY high crowd levels and heat. *Side Note* I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go in the summer (June, July, August) it is just not for us. It is to hot and has high crowds. I know that some people really like to go then or that is the only time it will work in their schedules, but for us it just is not something I will do. We used to go at that time when I was little and we even tried it again back in 2002, but after going in the off season, WOW what a difference. Plus I love Disney at Halloween and Christmas. I really enjoyed trying the F&W festival in 2010 and knew that I would like to do that again. Okay well that leaves us with September. I am not a huge fan of Florida humidity and the heat in September. Plus the chance of rain is higher than it is in October, November and December. BUT a 35% Room Only Discount is what I was hoping for. So I started to calculate the numbers and come up with around a $1,200 savings. Could this be right??? So I decide to call, but first had to pull up the email with the code on it. Well somehow it was deleted. Not really sure how that happened, maybe it got mixed in with all spam, or all my shopping confirmations from Christmas. But now I started to panic. If my math was correct that was lot of money. So I decided to call Disney and see if it was on file. Well after being on hold for 30 minutes (not a bad wait since I have recently read about REAL long wait times) I got a “NEW” CM. Not really sure if she was new or not, but she really was not understanding a lot of my questions throughout our conversation. Anyway it took a while to tell me “YES” you have a PIN code. Okay good, now that we have that settled; let’s see if my math was correct. She priced out a GV room at the Poly for me. And sure enough I was correct. WOW! That is a lot of money. I also had her price out the Contemporary and that was even a bigger savings. I then asked her what it would be for a GV CL room at the Poly and the Contemporary. Well the Contemporary was out of our ballpark, BUT the Poly was cheaper than my original dates without a discount. HUMMMM… what to do? Club Level, really? Could we do it? We have always talked about how nice it would be. Staying at a Deluxe for the first time and staying Club Level for the first time in the same trip. That would just push me over the top Disney happy.:hyper: Well I went with my better judgment at the time and just went ahead and changed out dates to September 21st thru September 27th in a GV room at the Poly with the 35% room only discount. BOOKED!!!

I am still hoping that the same discount will come out for our dates in Oct/Nov/Dec. But if not, I was VERY happy saving that amount of money. We have gone around that same time in September before. We went 10 years ago when my DH turned 30. I really hate to say that I don’t really remember the weather that much, but it could not be that bad if I did not remember hating it :goodvibes plus it will be nice to celebrate Micah’s 41st Birthday in Disney. We did not do very much for his 40th so maybe I will have to do something special for this one. *Side Note* I can’t say too much because he reads this, but I have something’s in mind :goodvibes
Okay back on track… Well I got off the phone with the CM and told Micah what I did and how much we saved by switching the dates. He was very excited and happy. We were watching some TV and at the commercial we were talking about how fun it is going to be with Mason at Disney and how I am going to cry at every little thing that happens with Mason. *Side Note* I start to tear up every time I think about him meeting Mickey for the first time, or when he sees the castle, or his first ride (which I am still trying to decide on. More about that later) etc. you get the point. I will cry a lot on this trip. Anyway I brought up how much it would cost us to stay Club Level at the Poly. He was like that is it? Book it! Um…What did you say? Really? He said that we always talked about trying it and at the price why not. He knew that with Mason we would spend a lot more time at the resort then we have ever in the past and it would be nice to have all the extras. OMG!!! I was over the moon. I said I would call in the morning since it was late at this point. Needless to say I did not get much sleep that night thinking about calling first thing in the morning.

Well, I woke up early called and booked our first ever stay at not only a Disney Deluxe Resort, but we are staying on the Club Level for the first time! *Side Note* Now this is the first time ever that I have spent this on a resort in Disney, but with the PIN code and knowing that we would be spending a lot of time at the resort I knew it was going to be well worth it. It will also be great for quick Breakfast and snacks mid-day and nice to grab beer or wine and some desserts to watch Wishes. I can’t wait.

I'm joining in!! First I have to say Mason is super cute and your husband has great taste in football teams (I am also a Packer fan)! :).

:cheer2::cheer2: Thank you for saying Mason is cute. My DH is just starting to get over the Packer loss from 2 weeks ago. He takes it pretty hard. :lmao:

I really am very excited about the Poly stay. It cant come fast enough. I saw that you have DVC. That is really cool. I hope that when the Poly gets DVC we will be able to make that our "Home". That would be so cool. :thumbsup2

Thanks for joining and stay warm. It is cold in our part of the world this week.

Joining!!! Looking forward to reading all about your trip. :thumbsup2

I would love to stay at the Polynesian. Maybe one day. :)

I am a big Fantasy Football player too, however I am a Patriots Fan!! Still crushed by our horrific loss to the Ravens last night. :sad2:
