Thanks everyone for the advice. This will be our first summer vacation at Disney, we are usually spring time guests ( March or April ). I'm thinking its going to be quite the experience. LOL. :)

Just wondering if it's neccessary to make a request to be "close to lobby" if in a YC SV CL room. Basically, I know we'll be on 5th floor, but I'd like to be close to the lounge and elevators. I'm not really clear on how the rooms are situated on the 5th floor, so is that a valid request? "Close to lounge and elevators?"

And, if you are close to the lounge, is there alot of noticeable noise? :confused3

Thanks guys!!!

Hi Dee & Teena!! You can add us to the list. DH & I will be at the BC on Oct. 4th-11th. Cannot wait!! Going for our 2nd Food & Wine trip.:thumbsup2

Add us to the list! Family of 5 (myself, DHS, DD 14, DS 14, DS 13) we have stayed at the BC and BCV quite a few times before, but are staying Club Level this time thanks to Magical Vacations Travel end of August promo. We are reserved August 21-29. :)

I think your request idea would work. From what I recall, most of the CL SV rooms are pretty close to the lounge. We have not stayed in one, but know someone who has and they did comment on the noise. Last year they started out in the room right next to the lounge and asked to be moved after one day, due to the noise. If you are near the lounge and elevators, almost everyone has to go past your room to get to theirs, so more chance of noise.

Thanks everyone for your input!! I think we'll go with the standard view. Either way we're at a deluxe resort which we are really looking forward too!

If it was me I'd go for the garden view room. It is only a few dollars more and you might not want to risk getting exactly what you booked, a standard view. We had a standard view once that was over the restaurant roof and looking at the parking lot. I really didn't like looking over the top of a huge flat roof. Although the room did have a balcony and the rooftop was clean. ;)

So I saw this info by following a link posted on another thread on the resort forum.

I'm not really sure of the source, but the info on the Stormalong Bay slide refurb is what I have seen elsewhere. The info on the kiddie slide is new to me.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts

Now – June 28, 2013: Rooftop HVAC hot water piping replacement will occur.

Jan. 7 – 11, 2013: Yacht Club Lobby rug replacement will occur.

Jan. 16 – 25, 2013: Stormalong Bay feature pool slide will be closed for refurbishment. Stormalong Bay Pool will be open during this time. Guests can use the slide at Luna Park Pool at the BoardWalk Resort.

Feb. 1 – 12, 2013: Stormalong Bay kiddie pool slide will be closed for refurbishment.

**********************************************************

Interesting about the hot water piping. I wonder if that has anything to do with the complaints about water not getting very hot, or maybe is something entirely different. I believe someone mentioned a few days ago that they had read about work on the hot water pipes, so there you go!

.

Its official! Very excited...you can officially add me to list. Thanks to these boards, we have decided to spend week at yacht club in gvcl room! Big exhale!!!

The added bonus is that you are right between two parks so it will make getting back to your room that much easier.

You didn't say how old your kids are but if they are younger, definitely do the "Get to the parks right before rope drop" plan. If they are teens and can go to the parks by themselves the "going out in the late afternoon/dinner time and staying late in the parks" is an attractive alternative. The later it gets the more the parks clear out so it's something to keep in mind. The best thing of all for the evening touring plan is to go to a late night hours park after the fireworks. There is a mass exodus of people leaving the parks just as you are getting started and the lines for rides are short again.

The BC/YC is the perfect resort for hot summer touring. It's close to two parks, the pool is to die for and it's got lots of attractive dining options that are close and convenient as well. That mid day break in the pool at Storm Along bay sounds heavenly right now!

Now have you thought about Club level at all? Staying at club level and taking advantage of all of the offerings sounds ideal. You will be back at the resort for that mid day break so it will be easy to take advantage of the food and beverages.

If you want, try to run the numbers for a Dining plan versus "Club level with a few table/counter service restaurants" numbers for your family.

Check back in the last 20 pages of this thread to check out my discovery about club level and the way we got a lot more convenience for the same or less money.

Oh Heck! here's a link: http://http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46969963#post46969963

Start here and read forward so see what myself and others have to teach you about staying club level.

I hope that helps and don't worry! Yes it's going to be HOT. Yes you can do the parks and have a good time. You just have to think outside the box and get into "the heat of the summer touring plan."

Good luck and welcome to the thread!

On my way to YC and I know next to nothing about it.

My mom and I are going to WDW for the Princess half-marathon at the end of Feb. We were booked at GF but with all the construction going on there we decided to switch to YC. I have stayed at BCV a couple of times but never YC so I'm so excited!!

We booked standard view because that is all the was left. Is there anything to request if we want to be closer to SAB? Is there more than one elevator?

I'm coming with my daughter and her husband, their two kids DD7 DS3, last year we stayed made rate (port Orleans) never again will we stay moderate. This year we booked threw Magical Vacations, we got a great deal, although its the end of Aug. I'm not too happy about that but we did book CLub level and are looking forward to that

And you can add us to the "Be Our Guest" list again...because our waitlisted post cruise stay at BCV came through this afternoon! We are already on the list for January 22-24th and now we will be there January 27-29th too :banana:

I've been watching SAB stuff lately and saw the SAB slide closures on the Dis in the refurb section - not sure about the rest. I was SO happy because our SAB access as themed pool-less BWI guests will be right in between the two slide closures. Pixie dust!

Don't count out the teens yet! :) Our teen is still leading the charge at rope drop! While he doesn't spring out of bed like his two younger brothers, he's very speedy once he checks the clock. In fact, he's the reason I know the timing from BC to MK - he always thinks we're going to miss rope drop and watches the clock on the bus VERY carefully.

The funny thing is that the only time we DID miss rope drop was when we were staying at CR and the monorail stopped several times along the way. Yes, that's 45 minutes from CR to MK, but only 15 minutes from BC to MK! (Should have walked but they wanted to take the monorail!)

I don't post photos of my kids, but if I did, you'd see three boys (including teen) at a Disney bus stop at 6am excited to get to 7am MK EMH! Otherwise, as Ninja Mom says, there is always Disney bacon to make it work . . .

Then you've got it made in the shade baby! Nice work. :thumbsup2

I like to think of Bacon as the 'carrot' in the metaphor of using the carrot or the stick. The stick is obviously the Stacey TV show, turned up moderately in volume at o dark thirty in the morning when there are 5 people in line for the bathroom. Stacey in the morning before coffee is NOT a good thing as Martha Stewart would say.

I keep trying the link, but it won't work. :confused3

Sorry about that link. Try this one: you'll have to scroll down a bit to post # 454

So I'm at the 10 day mark and because i have nothing better to do, I call DW to ensure that my request for a day bed is on my reservation. When I made the reservation, i requested a day bed even though we are 4 people because my dd has night terrors and her thrashing can be disruptive to ds so a daybed or even a roll away would be ideal for us. Teena was kind enough to share that YC GV CL has i believe 2 of these types of rooms so I thought what the heck, may as well ask for one and if it doesn't happen, no problem we will just ask for a roll away. So today I call to make sure the request is on my reservation - no wait at all I get a CM right away - excellent! And guess what? No daybed request AND the CM tells me she doesn't think there is a daybed in the GV CL category but she'll check so please hold...ok....20 minutes later...she's back and NOPE she says, its not possible - she claims she even called the YC directly and was told there are no rooms with 2 Queens and a daybed CL - but she assured me when we check in we can pay for a roll away. Good bye. HUH?
Looks like I am going to be calling back and trying out the next CM LOL! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Guess she didn't talk to Teena like those of us here! Still laughing!

I thought the rollaway was free at CL?

Would like to be added to the list for BC for Aug 18-??? (Bounceback). Tried going back to a moderate last year but ended up switching to AKL then to YC last summer lol. Once we got into the pool we felt like we were back home. This year we will be celebrating our 10th trip to Disney :).

OK I'm more back now and I have sufficiently recovered from the holidays and my BC December vacation.

I thought it might be fun to answer my own cliff hanger post as the next installment of my Trip report. My answers will be in RED

I'm Baaack!
But barely......
I'm SooooOOOoooo busy with the holiday stuff.

I have decided to do a trip report but I don't quite have the time to dig into it yet.

I will leave you with some ( not so fiscal ) Cliff hangers!

Drum roll please......

( Read in the Official Disney announcer voice, like that guy who does the Monorail spiel )

How did Ninja Mom survive her time at the Beach Club resort?

Quite nicely but she is ready to go back and it's only dreary January. She has a trip up next to POFQ at the end of February but it's not the BC so she will have to make due!

Which star of the stage and screen did she see at the BC???

Alfre Woodard was checking into the Beach Club as Ninja mom was checking out. She respected my privacy and did not ask for an autograph so I respected her privacy and did the same. ;) She was there to perform at the Candle light processional. I was there to drag Teen boys out of bed in the morning and torture them with amusement park touring.

What was broken? (Hint, it could have been anywhere on WDW property and it most certainly was more than one thing)

Now if you were keeping up with my trip reports you would know what that item(s) was. I will award ten points to Griffindor to the first one that tells me!

Who did laundry at the Beach Club and was their alcohol involved with that event??

This one I have been keeping from you. Yes there was a laundry event AND it DID involve alcohol.... only it didn't involve me! My husband decided that he wanted to do laundry earlier than I had planned so HE did the dirty deed and did laundry accompanied by a club level beer artfully hidden in his refillable mug. He took this picture on his cell phone and posted it for me. If it doesn't work please yell at him.

Just exactly how cold WAS Storm Along Bay and Did Hannah survive her hurricane and emerge from the wreckage? I think Hannah has been hitting the sauce because she was down for the count when I went in December. The pools were heated to 82 degrees, which was fun when it was sunny and not so fine when it was cloudy. BUT there were those delicious hot tubs and I made good use of them during my trip, so all was well with the winter use of Storm Along Bay

Why did she have a little conversation with a housekeeping supervisor?
Some one was smoking in their room by one of the exits (hint, it's near the BC secret exit!) Since ALL rooms at the BC are NON smoking and People like myself are terribly allergic to cigarette smoke I thought it would be best if I informed Housekeeping to spare the next person that had to check into that room.

Where did she go, and WHAT did she do that had her children shaking their heads and pretending to ignore her (repeatedly)!
Why just about everything of course. When you are the lucky winner in the "I get to sit next to Mom on the roller coaster" sweepstakes bloopers are bound to happen. Keep reading for more on that!

Which restaurants were naughty and which were nice???
We always love Le Cellier and we seem to have better luck with it than some other folks who read this thread. 50's Prime time, which I was dragged to once again, didn't disappoint the boys, who love that peanut butter and jelly milk shake, but I am over that place and I'm ready to move on. Kona was great with that giant hangover in a pineapple, known as a Lapu Lapu, so I'd go back there in a jiffy. The Flying fish you can throw back, been there done that and had no money left over after that meal to buy the T-Shirt.

Yak and Yeti was great, except it cost $18 for a quart of chicken lo Mein and that made it hard to swallow. The Biergartin was freakin AWESOME and that ain't the beer talking. I love the salads they offer on the buffet. Finally we have the Crystal Palace for breakfast, a family favorite where you can find unlimited bacon and sausage with a pink pig running from table to table visiting the guests. The irony of that is not lost on me.

Why is she bouncing bouncing and bouncing?

Time was a wasting. I realized it won't be too long before the boys will be so immersed in their own lives that family vacations like these will be very hard to coordinate. I also realized that life is short and that you have to follow your dreams while you still can. Those bounce back offers and other resort discounts were calling my name. There is nothing like doing Disney with family. Just bring me two of those Lapu Lapu's and rent me one of those scooters and I'll be good to go with my family any day of the week! ;) Next trip there are even more of us so I better get to drinking!

..... And finally, Just what was that incident with the magnifying mirror all about???

Ah yes, the MAGNIFYING mirror. I was hoping that you would forget about this one but you didn't did you. Nope. So here goes. One night after touring the parks, I stopped into club level and poured myself an Amaretto. I'm no bartender so I may have been a bit generous in the portion department. Combine that with the fact that I'm not what you would even remotely consider a drinker and you have what some would call a fun time. It was under the influence of this noble concoction when I decided I finally had the time to check out that jumbo magnifying mirror that is provided in the room's sink area. The very same mirror that turns every day hair into telephone pole size behemoths. Trust me when I say that you should not be looking in a magnifying mirror under the influence of Amaretto or any other liquor. Thankfully everything returned to it's normal size when I woke up the next day (and my husband had flipped over the mirror after he got tired of me yelling "Come here! You have GOT to see THIS!!"

Tune in later as Ninja Mom ignores piles of laundry and rolls of wrapping paper to torture you with occasional updates and trip reports during this busy holiday season!

And tune in later as I continue to wrap up my trip report. I still have a little bit to go so hang on!
