Ever Had Your Door Magnets or FE Stolen?

We had our DVC "Welcome Home" sign taken off the door on the Fantasy cruise. Very annoying, as we collect these (they are usually stamped with the year).

I'm planning on making a FE for our upcoming cruise and am wondering if I need to buy plastic secure ties to tie it to the Fish.

Has anyone had their door magnets and/or FEs stolen before? Just curious.

Well, out of the hundreds (yes, I mean hundreds) of magnets I've made for use on our doors, we've had a total of 2 disappear (on 2 different cruises).

I didn't stress about it too much, as I had the original picture on my computer at home and could reprint once back home. I was just sad that someone felt they needed to do that.:(

Both magnets had our room numbers on them. And one of them even had our first names and dates of our cruise in a location that would have ruined the magnet if someone wanted to cut them out. :confused3

We usually use a wire wrap on our FE (just remember to bring something that will be able to reach inside the fish holder to cut it at the end of the trip).

Some of our magnets have gone missing. Our stateroom attendant was more upset than we were. He recovered some of them down the hall.

Yes I have had magnets pinched. They even had our names on the front and I had written on the back stolen from room xxxx. Just in case they were taken by kids and their parents saw them.

We always get magnets stolen and can usually find some on doors further down hallway. We never recover them all though.

I'm planning on making some for our cruise - it will be our first cruise.

Sadly I'm also going to write on the back of them, 'Stolen from a sweet little girl' so that hopefully if someone does try to take it they will have second thoughts.

So sad. I'm guessing sometimes it's a prank but still. WHY???

i feel like its people moving them from door to door... do you? Not like I would go steal PrincessShmoo's magnet then go pop that thing on my door like an idiot... ya know.

I think its just wrong. Don't touch!!!

Yeah, but that's still stealing, isn't it? Taking something from the place it's supposed to be to a place that it isn't.

I think in many cases it's the older kids who have the run of the ship, being stupid. But, it's still stealing.

we had 2 DVC magnets taken from our door in Dec 2010. We went to the DVC desk and got new ones. ( we then put them inside the cabin.) She said a ton of magnets had walked away from doors that particular cruise.

We didnt have any walkaway the past 2 cruises.

Have you noticed that they disappear at a particular time of day...say overnight?

The one we had go missing on our Med cruise, was sometime in the late afternoon, before dinner. I noticed it was gone from the door when we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. The second one I noticed during the daytime, but not sure when it actually went missing.

I've only done them once, but we did not have any stolen. I am planning on putting more on for our next cruise, but I know they may wander off. I'll risk it because they are fun! :thumbsup2

One word answer = YES!

I had forgot my FE at home, so I decided to hang our Halloween bag from Disney! It was a cute bag we got there! It did the trick, so much fun finding the gifts left! On the 2nd day ( late afternoon) it went missing! My DH and DS had went back to the room to change. They came back to tell me the bag was gone! I thought they were joking but nope it was gone!:scared1: I also had about 10 magnets on the door, from Canada, The next day a magnet went missing! It was a cute black bear with Canada on it. They were only from the Dollar store, not a big deal but "they" could have asked!!! Its a shame people do this!

I guess we have ben lucky. We have never had anything taken. In fact we usually end up with more due to fantastic FE buddies. I did once scold some older boys for touching stuff on someone else's door though.

We had a bunch of FE gifts go missing one cruise. We thought it was just a dud group until we got home and everyone was posting on our meet thread - so many people were saying they didn't get hardly anything - we all started saying - "did you get my _____?" and the answer would come back "No, I didn't".

I know we delivered to everyone on our list but a number of people never received it.

Same for us receiving - we were right by an elevator and everyone forward on the starboard side had to pass by our room. People posted pictures when we returned of a lot of cool stuff that "disappeared" from our FE.

I have to admit, it's made me decide never again for FEs.

We've had our FE stolen before and it was zip-tied to the fish so it took a little doing! It was a custom embroidered FE and was very disappointing that someone would work so hard to steal something that I had created. (Well, who knows if they worked hard or just cut the hanger -- I forgot to see if the zip ties were still there after the fact.) But the day we were in Grand Cayman, we came back to the room to find it missing. The response from Guest Services (not that we expected them to be able to do something -- just wanted them to know it was ours if it turned up in Lost and Found or anywhere else on the ship) was that anything with Disney or Disney characters is liable to be taken as a free souviner.
