Share YOUR movie/show time snack tips...

I am interested in tips and little tidbits of info. on the topic of bringing snacks into the movies and shows while on board Disney Magic.

We do not want to buy anything from the movie snacks place on board, because we've heard it was expensive.

We also will not be bringing bags of microwave popcorn, as I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not they can even be popped on board (there is no access to a microwave)

I would love to hear what you and your family does! I know I can bring snacks on board as long as they are sealed but, I'm looking more towards what snack-type foods are available ON BOARD with out an extra cost that can be brought in to the theaters...

If we got a plate of desserts from the buffet (or other places), can they go into the theater? Can you grab a meal from quick service places and bring it in? Can you bring in a bowl of fruit from quick service or from room service? Are there any limits?

We plan to fill our pop mugs up before going in, so we know about that already, I'm thinking more along the lines of 'snack type foods' here.

And, when it comes to snacks, food and drink on board- is there something you feel that is 'missing' for your taste buds? Say like, salty snacks or non-sugary treats? Or is pretty much all of that covered for you? Once my family eats desserts and regular food all day long, it seems like I crave something salty...maybe that 'salty thing' (like chips or what ever) should be brought on board with us? Or do they have chips some where?

I have been told by someone on another cruise line that they bring zip lock sandwich sized baggies with- they grab a few snack items from their buffet when they eat and they bring those to use as snacks durring shows...I don't know much about cruising- but would that be frowned upon??? Do other people do it?

We have been told by CMs outside the theater that we can bring in "snacks" but not "meals." I'm not at all sure where they draw the line. On some occasions, a hamburger and fries was OK, on others, the burger made it a "meal" but fries were allowed. Never had any problem with some fruit or a plate of dessert munchies. And a covered cup from the beverage station is always fine. The sometimes have bags of chips at the hamburger place.

There are no microwaves for guest use.

I believe the last time my DD got popcorn at the onboard movie theater it was around $2.50 to $3.00. That is actually cheaper than our movie theaters here.
You can get chicken fingers, pizza, fruit, ice cream, sandwiches, etc... to take into the movie theater as well as "free" soda from the soda machines. If you want candy, I would bring a couple of boxes from your local dollar store. I also know you used to be able to get small bags of chips at the fast food spots, can't remember if they were there last time.

I agree - I think the bag of popcorn they offer around $2.50 is an awesome deal. I think it's a pretty decent bag and actually really liked the popcorn

On my December Fantasy sailing, they were not allowing anyone with hot food like burger, fries, pizza, etc in and I overheard the CM explain its due to the "smell" as it disturbs others experience. They asked people to eat it outside before going in.

We buy some of the small sizes of Smart Food popcorn at home and bring it along for our show snacks.

We watched "The Avengers" on formal night in our fancy clothes during first seating (we had 2nd seating) and my dad grabbed us 2 of the free beers. It was AWESOME.

I usually hit the $1 bin at WalMart before the cruise and buy 3 or 4 boxes of movie candy.

Onboard, I've taken chicken strips and sodas into the BVT. The WDT we usually hit after dinner, so I'm not really in the mood for more food at that time.

I've seen people with pizza, burgers, fries, chicken strips, chips, fruit plates, cereal boxes, pretty much anything you can carry in the BVT for movies. Not so much in the WDT.

first off, i love the carmel corn but, other than having a drink or a cocktail, we don’t snack in the theater! there is so much food everywhere it just hasn’t been a thought? seems like whenever we’ve seen a movie it’s either after breakfast or lunch or right before dinner.

There's so much good food on board that we don't bother with movie snacks.

Most of the shows are 1 hour so snacks don't have to be huge, and you are either coming from dinner or heading to dinner. For movies, 2 hours; do you usually eat a hamburger at theaters? Some movies do sell hot dogs and pizza, but I'm usually good with just a drink and maybe some candy. I don't really like to listen to people chomping away on a full meal so try to be considerate to them too by not eating through the movie.

If you participate in FE or other trades, you get a lot of candy and snacks that are good to take along.

The cellophane rattling really irritated me. I couldn't hear the movies or shows.

We didn't take snacks into the shows. We had late dining and the shows were right before dinner. We didn't want to get full on snacks.

We usually grab some movie sized snacks or fruit snack on the way to the ship. I wish they had real movie popcorn w/melted butter, though.

Personally, I don't eat in the theaters (show or movie), I may take a drink along to a movie, but that's about it. I don't eat in theaters at home, so it just carries over onboard.

My kids love to watch movies on board, especially on sea days. Their favorite snack is to get a plate of french fries and put them in the paper drink cups. Easier to transport, and satiates the salty taste movies seem to bring out in us.

We don't bring food into the WDT, mainly because as other's said - you're usually headed to dinner right afterward (or before for early seating).

DW tried taking a cookie in a stick foe dessert into the WDT and a CM told her she couldn't take any food into the theater. Maybe we just got a stickler.

I didn't know popcorn was that cheap. I was thinking it would be more expensive (because what ISN'T usually more expensive at Disney???). Usually, all we ever do is popcorn and pop...SOMETIMES we'll get movie sized box of candy, but not always. I may just bring a few boxes of candy and say that's enough...like others have said- there's already a lot of food every where. I don't want to ruin our dinners or anything either.

I, too, HATE when people are being loud in the theater. It drives me nuts. We just went to a movie last week and a lady had a bag of chips that she brought in- inside of her purse or something. It was SO LOUD. I was happy that they caught her and they took her bag! hahaha. I didn't complain, but someone must have (or the workers heard it)...

We went to a brunch, ordered hot items from the menu, went through the hot/cold buffet twice, and dessert buffet twice. Our waiter informed us that we had not eaten enough, so he went to the dessert table, loaded a plate with desserts, and asked us to take it back to the room.

We've taken fruit and cookies into the movie theatre regularly.

One time, we took hamburgers and fries (I think the movie was at 1pm) - it was pretty awesome sitting in a movie theatre in a cruise ship eating a cheeseburger.....
