What are the best, non-character restaurants???

Need to know your opinions on the best non character restaurants! Thanks so much!

Ummm....all of them. Hardly anyone's list of "best restaurants" includes character meals. Scroll down a bit and find the "Top 5" thread and you will see the restaurants that this Board views as the best places to eat.

"Best Non-Character Restaurant" is a rather redundent qualification.

Not the least of which is because most character meals are served at buffets. And while I think buffets can have certain advantages, I also think they almost never represent the best representation of the food they offer.

Breakfast: Kona Cafe or Boma
Lunch: Le Cellier
Dinner: Les Chefs de France, Yachtsman, California Grill or Narcoossee's

I asked for your opinions on "non-character" restaurants because I tend to cater to my small children and their love for Disney characters, but we also wanted to try a couple of non character restaurants as well, but didn't know which ones we should try. Character meals are a must for families with small children. Thanks for your suggestions.

Our favorite all around non-character restaurant is Kona Cafe. A lot of people like their breakfast offerings, but we love dinner there as well.
Another good and fun meal is 50s Prime Time Cafe. We always have a BLAST there and my kids expect us to have dinner there on our arrival day! I guess its a tradition.

Will your kids be with you? If so, I would choose coral reef (not character, but still neat for kids), or teppan edo (my favorite meal last trip)!

I also like yak and yeti.

Happy planning!!

We like 50's Prime Time, 'Ohana, and Beirgarten for non-character meals - love the atmosphere, food, and interaction/entertainment.

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

oops I forgot - we LOVE Cape May for supper (well 3 out the 4 of us do - youngest son isn't a seafood lover, but he finds other things to eat)

If you wait long enough, you'll probably have a list with almost all restaurants at WDW on it. :rotfl: "Best" is really subjective and depends on what you want and are looking for. Here are my suggestions based on places where I've eaten.

In terms of food (Signature): Narcoossee's (GF), California Grill (CR)
In terms of food (In Park): Le Cellier (Epcot)
In terms of food (non-Signature): Via Napoli (Epcot), Raglan Road (DTD)
In terms of atmosphere: Biergarten (Epcot), Sci Fi (DHS), 'Ohana (Poly)
In terms of value: Liberty Tree Tavern (MK), Rose & Crown (Epcot)
In terms of buffet: Boma breakfast (AKL)

If you have small children, then the ones with the most going on (e.g., atmosphere) might be a better fit. The food at the Signatures are generally really good, but the atmosphere is more "adult" (though, there are children there and they are welcome).

We tend to like the high-end places like Jiko and Artists Point but really will eat just about anything you put in front of us. I liked Boma for the eclectic variety and Biergarten for the sheer fun.
