So, we're not "hang out at the resort" people. We are usually there just to sleep. The only "extra" think we've ever done is make a trip back to the resort to do the night vision animal viewing before heading back to MK for EMHs.

Is there anything WONDERFUL we are missing?

This may be our last trip for some time, so I want to make sure we do it all. :yay:

I guess we are "hang out at the resort" people. I just love sitting in the room enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, a glass of wine at night and watching the animals from our room. I also plan on cooking us a couple nice dinners while we are there, but I know you're not a "cook the food kind of person"! :rotfl2:

:lmao: You know me well, Alison! :lmao:

We just have a pool view, so watching the animals from our room won't work.

I do think we'll take more time to sit on the pubilc balconies and relax this trip. I physically can't go like I used to! :drive:

Our first trip was the only one that we were able to "go". After that the RA set in we've had to move slower. In fact we've spent half our remaning trips at AK for part of our trips just so that we can slow down and watch the animals. The other trips we chose resorts so that we could relax in other ways.

If you join in on my TR, you'll laugh because of the amount of time we spend in the room and the amount of cooking I am planning! :rotfl2:

I haven't started it yet. (I'm still working on another TR :rolleyes1 but I can post a link here). I don't like the Andriod App that I have, it doesn't show signatures either, so I still use the Internet option on my phone.

CIAO , my dear friends !! :wave2:

As you might recall , Marco and I will be visiting our beautiful AKL in August !!
We are now in full “ dreaming and planning mood” - ;);) when real life doesn’t get in
My DGH says that sometimes ago Disney announced a NIGHT SAFARIS available for all AKL guests ( not only to Club level guests , as it is for the Sunrise safaris) - to be held on AKL grounds at night.
See eg this link :

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tours.htm#night

But I cannot find anywhere news about this feature : is it actually offered ? Do you know more details ( how to book it , times etc ) ?

THANKYOU so much :worship: for this wonderful thread ( and  people !! )

I'm not sure if the night safari is available to all AKL guests or just club level, but it does exist. My dd (12) and I are doing it on Wednesday. It is for guests age 10+ You meet at saana at 0945pm. The cost is around $75 per person and a portion goes to the Conservation fund. We called IPO and they made the reservations. I would just call CRS directly and ask.

Enjoy!
Heather

Does anyone happen to have a current copy of the activity sheets for the resort? This will be our second stay at AKV but we were only there for 3 nights last trip and since we didn't know of the activites beforehand we missed everything due to being at the parks.

I would like to have a bit more resort time and would love to have an idea what is offered when so I can give us a bit more time away from the parks.

Also- I have heard there is a culinary tour for Boma and Jiko. Is that on the sheet, do you have to sign up or just show up?

Thanks for any info. I can't wait to get back to the Lodge:love:

Can anyone give a review on that? I would be interested in it, but would really like to hear more about it.

I'd like to know this as well--we are not staying CL, but would love the opportunity to do this!

PS A week from today at this time we will be checking in!!!! :cool1::love:

On the road home from a great trip. The lodge was beautiful, and so much fun. My only gripe was it seemed like people would order room service and either not call for them to pick up the tray or room service would not pick it up. it was there at night and still there in the morning.

Ciao Laura!

Found the following:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has introduced a new nighttime safari tour on the Sunset Savanna exclusively for guests of the Lodge.

Taking place after dark, the hour long tour takes guests through the savanna for a close-up look at the animals. Night vision goggles add to the excitement.

The cost is $70 per guest for ages 8 and up. There is a 10 guest maximum, with tours taking place Wednesday and Saturdays at 10pm.

Hope this helps.

Hugs,
Kathy

Thankyou Kathy , it is what I need to know... :goodvibes
to start  our holiday planning !!! :yay:

Big ABBRACCI to you too , laura :lovestruc

 DH said no. $280 is too much for one hour. Oh well, I guess he's right.

Tracey, be sure to take advantage of the night vision goggles to view the animals on the savanna that is behind and to the right of the pool. CMs are there nightly until 9:30 and there are at least 4 or 5 goggles for families to share.

FWIW, here's the info on the Night Vision safari I got from the IPO last week (staying CL for the first time in mid-April! ) I started another thread last week looking for info on it, but I guess it's pretty new because from the responses it sounds like no one on the boards has been on it yet.

In the IPO email, it specifically said the Sunrise Safari was for concierge guests, but didn't say that in the Night Vision info, so I presume it's open to everyone at AKL.

I hope this works - still new here and figuring out formatting etc :)

Robin
