~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hello ladies! Things have been going great down here. The past few days they called for rain, we didn't get any. Weather the rest of the week should be perfect, upper 70's and sunny! Today was our first full days in the parks, Animal Kingdom. Got in early, aroun 9:30 and we were done by 4pm. Crowds are very reasonable. Safari wait time was 20-30 all day, while Everest got to 45 for about an hour and that was it.

Take care everyone!

Yay!! Glad to hear about the weather and crowds. We'll be there Friday and are running the 1/2 marathon on Saturday. It was initially calling for rain on Saturday but now the forecast looks great!! A lot of the runners are complaining that it's gonna be too hot for the marathon, but I'll take the heat over rain and/or cold any day!

Hello everyone. Yes, I am still here....just haven't been on the Dis lately. I am going through major Disney withdrawal right now. Plus, I have been busy trying to grow my TA business. I have branched out into non-Disney destinations too. Pretty exiting!

I hope you're all doing well!

I'm going through major withdrawal too Meghan! I'm hoping we can get there in October. We were trying for May but it's not going to happen. If things start to look more definite I may get in touch to book through you ;)

Thanks for all the prayers for my BIL. He's out of the hospital now and they are just waiting to see if his liver starts to regain some function on it's own. Right now he has very very limited function but that's all they can do for him. His life is never going to be the same. He still won't accept responsibility for what's happening or get help for his addictions. He still feels like it's something that just happened to him rather than something that he caused.

On a happier note...we are all doing well and staying healthy so far during this crazy flu season! I just signed on a daycare kiddo to fill my last open spot. Her mom is a teacher so that leaves me with only one non-teacher family. I'm hoping by next year to have only teacher's kids and be able to have my summers off. I have two leaving at the end of the year to go to K next year and am hoping I can fill those empty spots just as easily and preferably with teacher kids. pixiedust:

Kim...hopefully he will wake up and realize his problem before it's too late...So glad to hear your daycare is doing so well!!!
I too am having a hard time looking at Disney stuff!!! I told Mike I need a redo for our last trip since I was sick the whole week!! I am telling you what...I have been there before with a sinus infection or dealing with a headache, but that UTI business really knocked me out!!! The last two days were really bad...and I was just so tired the entire week...I have tried to talk him into the last few days of Jan but, he ain't biting!:rotfl: So, I guess I have to wait....
In totally other news...my Grandfather (who will be 84 in Feb.) has always always always wanted to go to Ireland~that's it. nowhere else...well, his wife has a lady she works with that is somehow getting a trip from her son and he is sending my PawPaw and her with them! Somehow the ladies are getting this for their job but he said he would tack him on!!!! So,..he's totally elated!! They aren't going until May, but they have lots to do to get ready before then...passports, all that stuff. He is in excellent physical health too~he usually walks 5 miles a day,so he will pass the others up in the group if they take the walking tours....2 or 3 nights they will spend in the castles,...
He has been telling us for the last few years that before he died that is all he wants to do and that when he hears bagpipes he just feels like he wants to go 'home'...His grandparents or something are from Ireland...but he told my mom that if something happened and he died over there, just leave him and dont worry about a funeral! Which, as soon as she told me he was going ,my first thought was"he will probably die over there and die happy"...I would miss him very much, but man...if that's your life dream what a place to do it in!!!!! And in March they will have their 20th wedding anniversary, so I think we are all going to give them $$ for the trip...
That was random, but just thought I would share!

You definitely need a redo!!! That's so sweet that your grandfather is finally getting to live out his dream of visiting Ireland!

We were thinking the week of October 12-19 or 19-26.

BUT...... sit down for this one.....

We were in the car today and Jason brought up going in mid June instead- right when the kids get out of school so it's hopefully not terribly hot or crowded. It's still going to be hot and crowded but not as bad as July or August. He listed some very valid reasons too! Our school district is so strict about absences- no more than 5 absences per quarter or they automatically fail for the quarter. Andrew will be in 4th grade and Emily will be in 1st. Andrew might have a tough time missing so much now that he's getting older and they will both have make up work to do when we get back. If we went in June they would come home and just continue their summer vacation. Plus most of my clients are now teachers so if I close at the beginning of the school year it's a big inconvenience for 7 families to find alternative care for a week+. In the summer I only have one family with two kids that would be inconvenienced. Hmmmmm. If we can swing it financially we just might be going this JUNE!!!!! I don't want to get too excited but you know I'm already planning it in my head! ;)

That's a good idea to go in the summer since your school is so strict on absences. But June will be every bit as hot, if not hotter than July & August. Believe me, I tracked the weather for years before doing a summer trip!! Since your kids don't get out until mid June does that mean that they are off until after Labor Day by chance??? Those last few weeks of August are so very slow at WDW with everyone down there back in school, plus it's cheaper than the rest of the summer. Just something to think about! :) I dreaded our end of August trip, but it ended up being our best trip ever!!

Well, June will be hot Kim. But it would probably be a lot easier on your daycare families.
We don't get out of school until the 9th or so. I know there are others who are done by Memorial Day - I think some in Georgia and maybe Florida? They go back really early - mid August. We don't start until the day after Labor Day, so late August would work (we're going to Alaska this year). I just don't like going in summer and would rather brave crowds at our March spring break. For us, it's getting away from winter that's half the draw of going to Florida.

Either way - i hope you get a nice long trip!!

Shawna - keep at him - he'll cave eventually!!

Not much happening up here. Getting cold, like it's supposed to be. Trying to avoid catching the flu, colds, crud that's going around. My dad has a mild case of pneumonia. I just wrapped up my London/Paris TR. Hoping to start my October one soon.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!!

Our schools are always out the end of May,but this year they end June 6..but we start mid August:confused3 That's the local public school here, but our boys' school is out the 24 of May!:goodvibes We take less days off...they get the holidays, but not all the teacher workdays and such...
Our homeschool will be out the first week of May...which is dd9s Ballet recital this year, so we can wrap all that up at once!

Hi everyone! Looks like I'm not alone in my Disney withdrawals and not getting on the DIS. Our trip in October was so much fun and it looks like for us it'll be 2014 before we get back. I'm slowing wanting to get back in her and catch up on things.

Hope everyone has been doing well! We've been busy. DS is attempting two sports right now - swimming and basketball. His swim meets are at 8 in the morning and basketball games aren't until 12. He's going to be exhausted!!!

On the school subject - we're in our first year of the balanced calendar, which I know a lot of districts are starting to do. With that schedule, we now go through the 1st week of June (instead of getting out the week before Momorial Day). We start back the first week of August (we have a 7-week summer). So, going the 1st week of June mig not be too bad yet crowd-wise.

Hope everyone has a good week!!

I would love that! Being a TA definitely helps get me through the post Disney depression. I get to live through my clients a little. :)

I'm back in WI. I hate it here.

Seriously, hate it. I realized today that I have nothing holding me here. I have my goddaughter, whom I speak to at least every other day, so her mother told me that if I move that just gives her an excuse to travel!

So I'm updating my resume and seriously looking at jobs. I'm starting in FL, because really that would be the greatest, however I'm also considering Arizona. I'm going to try and remain optimistic about this because it is something I want. I just need to pray that it's God's timing too.

Have a great week everyone!
