The Police called and they want their "Message in a Bottle Back" and The Romantics are on the line about their "Talking in Your Sleep."

Thanks!

Lol. I adore him. And there us a long list of performers that copy or use others work.

This is funny; to try to find out what you are talking about I Googled Bruno Mars Talking In Your Sleep and a song came up called Locked Out Of Heaven. Started playing it and my Wife said "Is that Sting?"

I'm singing locked out of heaven and message in a bottle in my head and to me they sound nothing alike.

I can't connect those dots either.

Bruno Mars caught my attention with his Grammy performance, I think the song was Runaway Baby? James Brown-style performing with real musicians, no need for lip sync, I'd go see him perform live if given the opportunity. Even if I find a Katy Perry or Rihanna song catchy enough not to change the radio station, I'd never say the same about them or all the flavor of the minute performers like them. Goes for you, too, Beyonce.

I have to agree that the first time I heard that song, I thought of the Police's Message in a Bottle. Not that he's due a lawsuit or anything-- I like that he brought back The Police's sound because at least it sounds different from just about every other new song on the radio today.

You may call it a stretch, but I hear it. I just felt it would be nice for something original. It is not really meant as a mean spirited comment just an observation.

Here is the hook where I hear it.

"I'll send an SOS to the world"

I definitely hear a call back to "Talking in your Sleep". That's my story and I am sticking to it!

I clearly hear the Police reference and think of that every time I hear Bruno's song.

I thought of the Police, as well. Then I listened to the lyrics and turned that crap off.:rotfl:

Agree that he isn't due a lawsuit, though. I mean, it's no Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby.

I disagree with you, but it wasn't mean spirited. I can't make the correlation, maybe it's over my head or whatever. I play no instruments & make no claim to have any musical ability. Maybe that's why I can't hear it?

The Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby is so strong even I can hear that one!

Don't hear it at all. As for Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby, if you had a discerning ear (like Vanilla Ice) you'd hear the difference :listen:. Obviously the rate of the "dings" is different.:sad2: :rotfl2:

BTW, I  Bruno Mars. What a talent!

Yeah, still don't hear it either. Plus, I don't think Bruno Mars writes his songs ( I could be wrong ) so it's not really his fault if some DO think they sound the same.

Ah yes. The difference between, "dun dun dun dundundundun" and "dun dun dun dundundundun DING" is so clear that no one would ever think ol' Robbie ripped off Queen.:rotfl2:

Bruno Mars could sing the ingredients off a shampoo bottle and I would pay him for it. I love that man's voice!!!

I agree. I think Bruno Mars has some catchy songs. However, he needs to be a little more subtle in his lyrics. As they are, I don't want to listen to them!

:thumbsup2 And I find there is something very sexy about him. Not your "typical" good looks. Did you see him on Saturday Night Live? Great comedic timing too! In a strange way he reminds me of Justin Timberlake -- all around kind of performer.
