Kilimanjaro Safaris

Same here much better without the fake poacher bit, Do miss the geysers though they were nice, Zebra's last trip were shy but saw 5 mandrill's who are usually invisible. Plus the Lion was roaming about instead of napping with his feet in the air (it's good to be king)

I usually ride KS 4-5 times on any given trip to the world.

Last time we rode there was a lioness on the very top of the highest rock in the outcropping, I coudn't figure out how she got up there. Or why she was up there.

Former driver here. Still have many friend there so I'd be curious if you got the driver's name, I know there are a few bad apples. For safety and theme, there are very specific rules about truck spacing, so that's pretty terrible to hear.

Thoughts moving forward: if you are ever dissatisfied with your safari, ask the CM at the unload dock if you can ride again with another driver. They will accommodate you. Second, if you have a great driver, let them know! It gets really old doing the spiel 20 times a day with no feedback. Your positivity rubs off on the driver! It totally sucks when we put a lot of extra effort into a safari and nobody claps or says thank you. The drivers spend 90% of their shift alone, without other CMs, so you are the majority of interaction they get all day :)

On our last trip, we had the lion and lioness... feeling the love tonight! :lmao: It was very funny and the driver quickly moved on.

We just rode twice in the last week and had great CMs for KS. I like that they have taken the poacher story line. We were lucky to see the mandrills out and grooming each other.

All my tour guides have also been great. As a former CM even if you're having a bad day it's not that hard to focus on your job and have a good time. Sounds like a poor guide in general.

Were you there over Christmas? Because that happened on our safari too.....it was SO FUNNY!

Call me a perv, but I have to ask...did the lioness seem into it? We saw an intimate act between two lions at our local zoo, and the lioness couldn't have seemed more bored with the process. It was hilarious.

As for the OP, we did the safari once on both of our trips (a year apart) and had the same driver both times. She was pretty good...had lots of information about the animals and went through at a pretty good pace. I also enjoyed the safari better without the poaching storyline.

We've been on Safari tons of times and like anything some rides have been great, others just ok. If we don't like the ride we usually just go back on it and get another driver. We were just on it during our Christmas trip (had a WONDERFUL time as always!!) and had a great ride. We were shocked to just walk on, in fact the AK was not crowded at all the day we went which was between Christmas and New Year's. There were tons on animals around and our driver stopped often and talked, etc. Sometimes the CM is just having a bad day just like all of us. I don't take this personally, as I said we just go on it again if possible or go on it at another time or another day. I too like the "new" ride without little red. We rode it for the first time this past summer and again this Christmas and enjoyed it. My kids (adults) were funny. They recited the "little red" part of the ride when we rode past the area. We all knew it by heart. I always enjoy the safari ride and have marveled over the years how the savannah has grown since we were there opening week. Great ride.

Enjoy The Magic!!
