Two rumors IllumiNations and Monorail...what?

First IllumiNations...will be changing to a World of Color type show, called either Showcase of Color, Nations of Color, or Worlds of Color....hmmm.....

But get this one. Which we know isn't going to happen. Expansion of the monorail, which some wish but we know the deal. But the new rumor for the monorail is that it will expand to including HS, more than likely through the future land of Star Wars. It won't be like Epcot, outside the gates up front, but act like a secondary entrance basically and the monorail would be fit to the them of Star Wars (whatever that mean, I don't know, they way it looks?):rotfl2:

Oh the crazy rumors!

Can't wait to see more!:happytv:

Do you have a source for these rumors, or did they come from your own head? :rotfl:

Can the source be my head? :rotfl:

People were getting bored on the rumor board like that other thread said, so I had to search some out and get the pot stirring.

The Illuminations deal I could see maybe since it needs some changing, but the other one must have been from someone's head for sure, that is so out of left field.

I love Illuminations, it never gets old for me so if it goes I'll be sad to see it leave, especially for a World of Color-eque show. That rumor I can see being plausible, now...

About the monorail, I don't even. Its a lovely idea you have there, but why would they outfit a second park entrance just for the monorail? Even more questionable how would they fit a monorail into a Star Wars theme while having it linked to the rest of the WDW line, it wouldn't work or look aesthetically pleasing. Finally, Disney only just acquired Star Wars, the possibility of a new attraction let alone a whole land is still a ways off....

:rotfl::cool1::woohoo::laughing:

I suggest more plausibility when crafting rumors, but some like the far-fetched approach, so I do salute you with these ideas despite the bit-o-zany thrown into the second one. Overall, I give it a 4.5/5 :thumbsup2

Okay, while I agree that any monorail expansion is so completely out in so-far left field that it's on Mars... I wonder if the rumor comes from the phase 2 Harry Potter stuff happening down the road?

If Universal is really going to build a Hogwarts Express than runs between the 2 parts of WWoHP, then it is not completely unbelievable that somewhere at some point, someone at Disney was asked to imagine some way they could do something similar. Star Wars is the newest property, a monorail could be conceived to fit into one of the planets, so a few sketches, and there you go. But only in the bluest, of blue sky concept meeting; not to be confused with a real idea that may actually move forward.

I don't know...
If DHS is going to turn the Backlot into a Star Wars land, you're looking at a really long walk to get to it. Imagine going from Fantasmic to the back corner of where the Tram would drive you!
A monorail entrance at the other end of the park might help alleviate a very long and stretched out park.

Good point :)

I'd love to see a WoC type show at WDW. It would be difficult to do one at Epcot because it needs to be seen from all around. WoC in DCA is set up to be viewed from one perspective. Installing all the plumbing and pumps in the World Showcase Lagoon is a major undertaking.

Perhaps it would be better to replace Fantasmic?

Yes. Replace Fantasmic and bring Illuminations back to the days when the show and music were tied to the World Showcase countries. The fireworks might not have been better, but the music definitely was. Please

As to the monorail as we know it, I think it's unlikely to see an addition to it that is compatible with the rest of the system. They've just had poor luck, and my understanding is that they are a maintenance nightmare.
That being said, I'd think any new park expansion or new park would at least have some sort of rail incorporated in to it. They need not have the same monorail. They certainly could have a more traditional electric train system, similar to major metro subway systems. They can be on the surface, elevated or below the surface to meet whatever real estate demand. Fuel prices being what it is, there have to be some debates as to how efficient the current fleet of buses is even if they don't directly manage it. The trains themselves can be themed as necessary. You can market them as an extension of the "monorail" even though mechanically speaking they have more than one rail, as the average user really isn't going to care.
I would think in terms of theme. One could easily steer the train into a cleverly lighted tunnel, that gives the rider a feeling of warp speed.

For a long time (like, starting in 2007 or earlier), there was a rumor than Don Dorsey was working on a replacement for the current Illuminations show. The new show was supposed to be called "SkyDance." I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.

world of color couldn't go in world showcase because in order to install all of those fountains like at DCA, the lake would have to be drained and the water more clear

Draining the lake should be a fairly minor engineering challenge, especially since Disney built it in the first place.

Not to mention they drained Bay Lake during initial construction and 7 Seas Lagoon is man made . . . . . .

Well, yes. But I highly doubt the installation could be done overnight, and who would want to visit the park with no lagoon?! It's one thing to drain the river where Tom Sawyer Island is in MK; that's only one small area. But the WS lagoon is a major part of Epcot. It would be positively ugly if drained.

Not exactly that minor as it isn't just a lake it also has connection to the hotels and that waterway now...unless they have some large barricade to separate the entire waterway...and also where would they drain the water to?

What... they still have Illuminations??? Damn, i must have missed it. I was just at Epcot this week... stuck around till 9:30... saw a few fireworks and a couple fireblasts... but i didn't see anything that resembles an actual Illuminations show. Guess i'll try again next year.
