The Guarantee / GTY stateroom anticipation/discussion thread!

We just booked 9A GTY for the 3 night on the Dream 5/30/13! Can't wait to find out what room we have but I know it will be a while! :yay:

I've been waiting. I originally booked my room with a stateroom number. Then I went on the Fantasy last summer and talked to the travel agent on board. He got me the SAME cruise for $900 cheaper if I cancelled the existing reservation and rebooked with him on a GTY for a Magic trip to Greece 7/13/13...so I did. He said we would get our 5B category or better...so hopefully it won't be bad.

I check every so often to see if a room has been assigned, but it hasn't. Today when I checked, our category isn't even available anymore. So what takes them so long to assign a cabin? I'm soooooooooo impatient! :confused3

:yay: Yay! We got our room number!!

Wonder. March 2nd. GTY 4E. Got 4B. 8586. I really wanted to be at the back near the little staircase so am very pleased. :cool1:

Hope those waiting hear soon :-) I was prepared to have to wait until we got to port, but still hoped we'd hear soon!! :goodvibes

:) Try to be patient...very patient...they normally assign stateroom to GTY reservations at 45 days prior. We booked our reservation while on board the Dream last February cruising this February Cat 5E...they assigned our stateroom around 45 days prior in Cat 5A :thumbsup2

VERY PATIENT! We are less than 2 weeks out... and still nothing! :rotfl: I think on our last cruise with DCL we didn't find out 'til the port either.

We are still waiting for our GTY VGT stateroom on cruise leaving Miami 1/24/13? Anyone on this cruise receive their stateroom yet?

How do you find GT rates? Just by randomly pricing a cruise? Or is there an easier way to find what cruises are offering GT rates?

I just checked some of the cruises you are talking about here (Jan, Mar 2, May 30) and none have GT rates :(

I know...one of our DisFriends didn't find out until the week of and then it changed again! We were trying to figure out our plan of attack delivering the FE gifts...lol

For ours, March 2nd, the GTY rate was just for the category 4E. As there are not many of these, when they sell out they offer a few GTY rooms They then either fill those from a cancellation, or upgrade either party to accommodate.

IGT/OGT/VGT rates are something different, often offered after paid-in-full date, to fill empty cabins?

I'm not that knowledgeable, but there lots of info. here if you do a search :goodvibes

We have GTY for May 30 sailing on the Dream. We wanted a 9A and their were none available so I took a GTY which means I am guaranteed a 9A or better. I paid for a 9A but I could be upgraded or I could get exactly what I paid for. I will not find out until shortly before my sail date.

GT rates are a different matter entirely. There are IGT/OVT/VGT and are heavily restricted and must be paid in full at the time of booking. I saw on here earlier where GT rates are being offered on the Panamal Canal cruise and if you check the DCL website you will find it. I think the sailing is in May. Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info; it is helpful! :surfweb:

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if a catagory is no longer listed on the DCL site for a particular cruise, does that mean that they've overbooked it as much as they want to, therefore not even taking GTY bookings anymore?

Could that be an indication (although I know anything can happen, cancellations etc.) of how far up you could be bumpped? For example, we're booked in a 9A GTY but there is nothing listed on the site b/t 9A and 5D. So would the chances be good that if there are no 9A cancellations and we would get bumpped, it could be up to something with a verandah?:banana:

anything could happen, but I wouldn't expect anything that drastic, They would most likely spread it around and up grade several people a category, everyone loves a little bump and they know that so they do the best they can. Just because they are no longer booking your category doesn't mean you don't have a room either, they don't typically overbook cruises like airplanes.

Not a dumb question at all!

Considering there are only 10 9A staterooms on Dream & Fantasy, it would seem the upgrade chances are high to begin with, and it also sounds like those with 8's prefer not to give them up. :thumbsup2

I also wonder how upgrades are done... if they need oceanview space, do they simply move the 9D GTY's in order to open up the least expensive oceanviews or do they move the 8A GTY's and then the 8B GTY's, on down the line?

We're in the same boat as you for our October cruise - only GTY's between us and Cat 5B - and we're hoping that we end up with two cabins together, and verandah would be awesome!

So I booked 9A GTY on the Magic sailing Feb 1st. Just got a room assignment this morning for Room 6500 (9A). I looked it up and this is a handicap accessible room, which is fine, but it only sleeps 2 and we have reservations for 3. Maybe they just assigned this room as a placeholder and it will change again before sailing??? :confused3

We are going for our first ever Disney cruise, sailing March 10 on the Dream. Surprise 40th for hubby! Soooo excited.

Just realized what our GTY booking means ;) We picked 6A and would be happy with that but I guess we'll see. Booked back in October and was happy with the price so went ahead.

We received our stateroom for our 1/24/13 cruise from Miami. We booked a VGT and received Navigator's Verandah. We have our reservation linked with my parents and they put us right next to each other which was nice. We were hoping for an upgrade, but all good! We're just happy to be going...glad to have paid the price of an inside to get a verandah too! We were in the Fantasy in September and we were spoiled with a large aft balcony!!
