Tusker House vs. Chef Mickey Breakfast

We've been to both Tusker and Chef Mickeys (several times), and given the choice, would absolutely choose Tusker. Just overall better food quality/ selection and less chaotic at Tusker. We're a family of five with very different tastes, and Tusker has something for everyone.

BeBeCee, don't feel bad! I do think everyone should try Chef Mickey's at least once! It's a Disney bucket list thing. If you're like us, you may not enjoy it as much as Tusker, but it's still fun! We've been to Chef Mickey's several times and even though it's no longer on our dining rotation, we don't regret it one bit!

Thanks! I am sure it will be great and we will have experienced it to know the difference!

We have done both and loved Tusker House! We had an early ADR, so as we were finishing up eating, a few people in our party went and got us FP's for KS. The food is great, the juice is yummy, and the service and character interaction was awesome!

We dis tusker house for the first time last fall. We def preferred it over chef mickeys:)

Tusker House IMHO is the best buffet in WDW.

They get fresh Krispy Kremes every day OMG LOL

ITs the best

Tusker House breakfast is awesome!

I wasnt crazy about CM food to be honest. Also, I didnt care for TH lunch. Breakfast is the best, in my opinion! Esp when you get an 8am ADR. :goodvibes

I would personally choose Tusker, there is a bunch of different styled food, with more "African" flair to it than just the regular American food you can find pretty much anywhere. You get all the characters in their little safari outfits, and I just like it better! I have heard a ton of negative comments about Chef Mickey's as well, so that helps me choose haha

I liked TH better than CM. Especially since the last time we went to CM we got stuck in a corner and it felt like the characters rushed through.

Can anyone tell me what the cost for the TH breakfast buffet is? It is vague when I look it up. It would be 2 adults and 2 kids.

We enjoyed both. I thought Tusker House had a better set up food and character wise.

Bummer. I guess we will have to talk and see if we will add the AK onto our itinerary. If not, Chef Mickey's here we come.

So glad to hear good reviews about the TH breakfast. I just made reservations.

Tusker House! The additional african themed foods on the buffet and the fresh carved ham are standouts! And the juice is great!

But then the photo people visited our table. We had prepaid for a photo pass cd and given them the card before they too the photo. But they said they didn't honor that, it would be $40 for the pictures. So not only did we have to wait in line for 30 minutes after making a reservation 6 months in advance, but now we have to pay for the photos we had prepaid for and that they had us wait for. This was the one and only time I've ever been rude to a cast member.

My advice is to avoid the Breakfast Safari at all costs. Or at least make sure you bring your patience and extra cash with you.

A pre-paid photopass CD does NOT include pictures from character meals. You need the Photopass Plus for those to be included (except for a few of them where it's included in the price of the meal - which Tusker House is not).

Thanks for confirming this for me. We have our first meal schedule for TH in May at 8:30 (I was the only one in favor of an 8 ressie), and we are getting the PP+. I thought it was included in that one but wasn't too sure. So thanks! :thumbsup2

Definitely Tusker House for breakfast, We've done Chef Mickey's for all meals and breakfast is definitely not their strong suite!, Tusker House is probably my favorite restaurant at Disney so I'm a bit biased but their breakfast is FANTASTIC as it has lots of stuff you may have never tried but wondered where it was all your life after trying it.

Try some quinoa with honey YUM, It's a bit like oatmeal but not

Tusker house, Boma and O'hana probably have the best breakfast at Disney, With a nod to Tonga Toast at Kona!. I would skip breakfast at CM as it is to be charitable uninspired.

Chef Mickey's is at their best at dinner, They have great pasta dishes and a pasta bar with a bunch of sauces (pesto sauce is GREAT) , the Salmon is wonderful and there are a bunch of chicken and beef dishes in addition to the carving station. Lunch is similar but not as much variety and I'd suggest going after 8PM to beat the worst of the crowds and the kids will get more time to interact with the characters. Last time we were there we had Goofy doing the dance numbers from 'Flashdance' it was a scream!.

I think the bad reviews are largely from the breakfast crowd - we always try to get at least 1 dinner at CM's.

I know it has beeen asked before, but please give me your opinions on TH vs. CM breakfasts. We were excited about CM, but now are hearing so many negative reviews that I am torn. Plus we are doing MNSSHP that day and will be at the MK all evening. Staying at AKL, I almost think it would be better not to have to travel so far twice in one day.

We just did TH this morning. We have always enjoyed CM breakfast, but I really liked TH. it was delicious!
