NEVER thought I would be one to become attached to our table servers but...

We are just off the Dream. We had party of 10 from age 3 to teens to 20 something to adults. Our servers were fantastic. We were not a "tough to please" group. We just had some little ones that struggled to sit and stay awake for that long and some plainer palates that dont enjoy the fancy fare. These 2 gents took care of everything for us. I honestly felt sad leaving them. I always thought people were strange saying how attached they got to their servers. Even my "cool" 19-25 crowd was saying we gotta get these guys again if we ever return. I realize it's their job to make us feel this way and it's not that we are special in any way, but they sure made us feel special. Job well done and kudos to you, Disney.

On top of the good "service" we just kinda clicked. By the end of the 2nd meal we were starting to understand each others humor. The 3rd and 4th meal and the last breakfast were just fun. We had some good humorous exchanges. Yes, now I get it. This was my 3rd cruise and now I have had the attachment experience

Hopefully you named them on your comment card! That's very important to THEM in terms of perks, and ultimately promotions.

Our one and only experience and we also "clicked", I think ours had something to do with our very down to earth sense of humour and our shared homeland.
We were all very attached to each other and both of our servers cried on our last morning, I don't think that was an act.
Just for the record I balked at the whole "we got along so well, I want to have them serve us again if we cruise again" until I experienced it.
Now I get it :lovestruc

Chrismartinique, what were your servers' names? We had Carlos and Paolo on the Dream in December and loved them.

We were the same way the last time on the Magic. It was our 16th cruise and our fourth with Disney. We aren't married to Disney mostly due to cost but enjoy it every so often.

Our servers were so engaging and personable. Oddly enough, we had spent more time on the magic than our assistant server who was in his second week on the ship (in his first ever cruise job). He looked like be was having a lot of fun in his down time.

Anyway, I'm trying to convince my wife to do the 8-day out of Galveston at Easter and request these guys again. She's not convinced yet. We have a different booking on a different line and final payment is due in three days! I just found about the kids sail free promotion. I can't convince her especially since we have a week planned at Disney this summer for work.

I was thinking the same thing.

Of course I did. 3 staterooms and 3 comment cards

Glad to read you gave them a shout out!

We have had some excellent servers as well. From our regular dining rotation serving team; to our Palo waiter. We always made sure to write them up on the end of cruise survey form. I hope DCL lets them see these during their reviews. Any former cast members out there that can let us know how DCL does this?

I too fell in love with our servers on the magic (Giuseppe and Goran). They were awesome! I will definitely request again when I go. I also write their names on comment card

We fell in love for Yekta and Jervis on Dream last January. We sailed on Dream again in Oct and we were able to seek them out again. It was great seeing them. Actually Yekta saw my son at Cabana's one day and made a point to get him his beloved sushi. We had requested them, but didn't luck out. Unfortunately, our servers in Oct. had big shoes to fill. They were alright, but they weren't Yekta and Jervis. I actually don't even remember their names.

DH actually thought head server had a ''thing'' for me because he complimented me each night. Last night, DH was sea sick, I went to dinner & hubby was jealous and suspicious. Silly boy!:lmao:

That is one of my favorite parts of a DCL vacation: when you get great servers that just make meal time wonderful! I especially love running into them around the ship throughout the day and they say hi and ask how your day is! It makes you feel right at home!

On the flip side, over my 5 cruises, 3 of the server teams have been phenomenal! 1 was mediocre at best and 1 was TERRIBLE! That is equally a bummer!

We are going on our 8th DCL cruise in March. I usually request a dining rotation, not servers. Our servers are usually good; we've had a few mediocre ones, but never any bad ones. Well, after the server we had in Dec on the Fantasy, we are requesting him for March! We told him we'd be back & he'll be on the Fantasy until April 6, so he told us we could request him (which we did). Very excited! He was the best we've had in all of our cruises!!!

If I have already requested a specific dining rotation (so we won't miss AP on our Palo night) is it too much for me to ask for specific servers as well?

If you make more than one request, DCL won't know which is more important, and, most likely, you won't get either. It's quite possible your requested server won't be on the rotation you want. Or may be on vacation or left DCL.

So just go with whichever request is most important to you.

Just for the record I balked at the whole "we got along so well, I want to have them serve us again if we cruise again" until I experienced it.

Same here. And we mentioned Lesley (Leslie?) and Ludovic by name on the comment card. :)

We never had servers that we "loved", until our last cruise on the Magic. We had Aziz and Meisa. :lovestruc

Even though we were a party of 4 adults, they showed us just as much attention, if not more, than our neighboring tables which each had 2 adults and 2 children.

On the first night, Aziz saw my DH cutting up my pork chop (my rheumatoid arthritis was flaring up), and he immediately came over and cut up the rest of it for me. At first I was a little embarrassed, and quickly explained why DH was cutting my food for me.

EVERY night at dinner Aziz cut my food up for me! He did this automatically. Also, Meisa was awesome and got along great with DS21. Meisa tried to give brain-teaser type puzzles to DS and seemed pretty impressed when he was able to figure them out pretty quickly. These definitely weren't the types of puzzles they give to the kids. LOL

By the end of the cruise DS had come up with similar puzzles and had Meisa try and figure them out.

So all in all, our servers were EXCELLENT and we made sure to say so on the comment card, and I also sent an email to DCL regarding them when we got home.

P.S. When we went to Lumiere's for breakfast or lunch and Aziz or Meisa were working, they'd insist that we sit in their area and they took great care of us. :goodvibes

I couldn't agree more, we have always had fantastic servers on our cruises. On the last cruise we took with our son and his buddy; the head server did a fantastic job in not only serving us, but keeping the two boys entertained. They were 16 and he would give them puzzlers to think about, work some out on a piece of paper, or some good jokes.

I hope you gave them a 'shout out' on the survey at the end of your cruise. I understand that DCL takes them very seriously and the CM get all the feed back written out on them. And properly rewarded for a job well done.

Before I took my cruise I read this thread and thought "What's the big deal? Why would be love your server this much?" Then I took a cruise and I understood why people get attached to their servers. What a pleasant surprise! Our servers on the Magic took such good care of us. Everyone in the family misses them. Sometimes at dinner one of my kids will comment "I wish Solomon and Savio were here with us."
