$20,400+ 2/a, 3/c..2014 spring or summer, 7 night Carribean . Are you KIDDING me? Over $20k for a I bedroom cabin! That is insane. That is more than double, what we paid last year.

What is happening?

Well Cat R in peak summer on Fantasy is 30K. It's all relative.
But I agree, it's out of control. Ironically they can still sell the top cabins and the bottom cabins, They still struggle to sell all the middle cabins.
Actually they do sell all the suites on the Fantasy usually. The Dream always has some suites available last minute. This is where you could pony up an extra 1K or 3K and experience the Cat R for 1/2 the retail cost on the Dream.

But yes, $12 - 25K for Fantasy spring or summer for 2A/3K in a suite. Your choice. IMHO if you can't sail other dates, choose another company.

This is why we sail in the fall.

:goodvibes

We love Disney Cruises, but they are waaaay over-priced for the Caribbean!

Yeah, but more than double, what we're paying in concierge last year or this year (7 day San Juan), last year double dip, 5 night double dip. Insane!

About half that for the same number of people in a Cat T in March 2014......

One week in Jan '14 with a V and a T on the Fantasy Eastern....about 12k total....????

March 2014, for 5, on 7 night, in suite, starts at 12k.

This is why we sail in the fall. ;)

This could be had for less than 9K, in advance, off season. IMO.

If money is an issue, please remember that there are lots of other great cuiselines cruising the Caribbean for a fraction of that price. $20,000 is half a year of college!!!!!!!!!!!You will see the same ocean and ports!

...that is why we sail Royal Caribbean mostly for the fact that you can get a suite for less money than a cat 4A. DCL pricing does push the limit on what you are willing to pay for basically the same service IMO.

Unfortunately, our DGKs get out of school mid May and return the beginning of August. So, we are limited with the dates.

More than double, what we paid last year AND this year....shocking. I think, that reaches the level of "no way in Hades" for us. I can rent a 12 BR villa for 2 weeks in Italy for less....(with a full staff including concierge).

And yet I booked a 3 day cruise on the Dream in Feb for 2 adults for only $900. I thought that was insanely cheap! It was so cheap I booked 2 rooms and am taking my mom and sister. It really helps that we are not constrained by school.

Just to see the effect that the time of year has on prices, I looked at a 7 day, 2/a, 3/c 2014 for February and prices start at $5,000. That is for an ocean view cabin too as all the inside rooms are booked. I guess this is supply and damand at work. Not much demand in February evidently.

Don't book it then. Take another vacation. DCL prices to the market and they must think they can fetch this price.

Also, I think you may be looking at the most expensive category. So I think you posting may be misleading; hopefully not intentionally, but I can't say for sure.

If you are truly concerned about the price, try a less expensive cabin.

I stated a one bedroom, how is that misleading? And yes, one bedroom cabins are concierge, so more expensive. I am comparing apples to apples and basing on my recent experiences. But, thank you for your advice.

If there is someone out there ready to pay that amount, good for DCL. I am not that someone. If there is no one, the price will drop until someone grabs it.

And we didn't book anything for 2014 because there was nothing interesting and the prices were outrageous for "been there, done that."

It seems that there are more people unwilling to pay those prices based on the large number of port upgrades to concierge we are seeing on these boards.
