Or do I need to be added to the Be Our Guest List? So many questions!!!

Being added to the list is just plain fun, and you'll be able to note other followers that will be there at the same time...!

Oh, starting to get that urge to visit the Beach Club again.

That happens to me about once a day! :rotfl:

Thank you for your input! I know it will be at least a year before dh allows me to plan another dw trip; this will be our 4th trip to DW in a year and he is a bit ready for a different vacation after this trip. Now that we are almost to the 2 week countdown I am starting to make sure I have the "right" choices and decisions made. I am so excited to stay YC for the first time!

You will love the YC. We were there in March and it was such a great place to stay. So nice to be able to just pop over to the World Showcase, and the hotel is gorgeous!

Has anyone stayed CL and not opted for the dining plan? Is there enough food throughout the day?

We usually stay CL, and I've never been able to convince myself to do the dining plan. CL doesn't replace lunch or dinner, but it is usually enough for breakfast, snacks and drinks. We usually wind up with two smaller meals, or some in park snacks and a big TS meal somewhere during our stay. By my calculations we usually pay less than the dining plan, and we don't go hungry!

We don't usually have dessert with dinner, so the thought of having dessert with every dining plan meal is a bit much for us. We do however have dessert in the CL lounge!

Oooh, I'm really wishing I had a trip on the horizon!

Hi Everybody!

We are staying at YC June 1-8 (would love to be on the Be Our Guest list please). We have enjoyed the BC before but want to try the other side this trip. We had a nice stay at Poly last 'long' trip, but have to say part of me missed the relaxation of the BC (and the Poly rooms and interiors are a bit tired - thank you for the rehab Mickey!)

So, one question, is getting to the pool from YC a pain as compared to BC? We are bringing our BFF's for their first trip. I hope that we aren't wishing we stayed at BC versus YC. (I had an amazing discount at YC compared to BC - long story) Trying to look at maps, wondering the easiest route from say the lobby to stormalong bay pool? Only if someone has a minute to advise.

Thanks for the great thread and all the fun information!
Erin:beach:

We will be there when you are . We are coming in on 5/30 and leaving on 6/8. Are you getting excited? I love reading this thread and looking at the pictures over, and over, and over....
This is our first trip at YC too, with the last trip to WDW a couple of summers ago at the Poly. My girls don't know we are going to WDW again, and my DH doesn't know we are staying at the YC. I'm hoping I can keep all these secrets until May, but it's going to be tough.

Have fun planning!!

Hello all!

Been down here in Disney since the 27th of December and STILL haven't had a chance to visit the BC! I tried to get my family to check out the boardwalk area while we were at epcot, but none of them had any desire to see it! I guess most of them were not interested in it, since they're not staying there in 63 days like I am! :confused3

Oh man! 63 days until my very first stay at the BC (and hopefully not my last, since we're looking into going back down there for F&W !) :cool1:

I'm down here for another two weeks or so (just my mom and I!) so I will definitely get to explore the YC/BC at some point!

Today, I was able to talk them into checking out AoA and they were in love...baby steps I guess!

I was at Epcot the other day, and our FP for TT were at 1:20, we had walked up and the stand by line said 70 minutes. WELL, within five minutes of us standing there to get in (because the FP line for this travels out of the queue and is ridiculously long) the standby line had jumped to 220 minutes! It had broken down...yet again. I've ridden it twice in the past week, and honestly I'm not impressed! The first time (used FP) we did the limited design of the car. During the ride, it shows you how your car performed...and I was confused. The second time we all opted to skip the design part (they gave us the cards to use anyway, so we scanned them in for the fun of it) and the performance test still didn't make sense! I don't know. I just don't like it.

It seems like every time I got up to the front of the line at an attraction, it broke down. It happened at Spaceship Earth AND Soarin' I must be bad luck? I don't know. I'm just thankful that I haven't been ON a ride when it broke down! (although I was on POTC the other day and midway through the ride, they turned on all the lights and turned off all the sounds...it was creepy!)

Tomorrow we're going to 'Ohana for breakfast (went there for dinner last week for the first time and LOVED it! SO excited to be going back in March!) and then I have California Grill booked for dinner (early birthday dinner since it will be closed during my birthday trip!) :hyper:

Hope everyone had a fantastic New Year!

PS. I heard that this week they are doing absolutely NOTHING for limited time magic?!?! I'm a little peeved at how hard Disney dropped the ball on this one. Kind of lame if you ask me! :headache:

I can appreciate how it feels to have rides break down just as you are about to get on them! When we were there for MNSSHP in October we had bad luck too, we waited an hour to get on Splash Mtn and just as we got to the front of the line they had technical difficulties and shut the ride - for the rest of the day and we never made it on. The kids were so disappointed! Same exact thing happened at Mt Everest - we waited on an hour long line to get right when it was our turn and the ride broke down, so frustrating. At least that ride we got fast passes for a return any time the next few days and eventually we did get on. That trip for us was very frustrating, the monorail broke down, it just seemed like we spent more time getting and waiting and not actually being able to do anything. I am really hoping for a different experience in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed!!!!

That's great to hear that you find BC more relaxing than Poly!! We're booked for Poly in Sept, and we love staying there, but I'm having 2nd thoughts because it is more expensive than BC or YC and we spent most of our time in EPCOT. I think it would be so nice to be so close to EPCOT but I'm afraid we won't find the BC or YC as relaxing as Poly. Decisions, decisions....

Sent from my Galaxy S II

Don't get me wrong, we LOVE Poly! And we did relax there just fine! But the main building is always jam packed with non-resort guest visitors (and I have been one of them too, so it's ok, but), and the volcano pool always seems a bit busy for us. The BC/YC has such a nice vibe for us and I am excited to be back there. We too love EPCOT and HS, so the occasional bus to MK doesn't bother us, we are weird, we like the bus and always chat with other guests. But for us, overall, I think BC/YC is more relaxing, especially the resort time by the pool and the public spaces. Have a great trip!!!

We will have to have a drink at the pool if we can connect! :wave2: I always find dis friends on the boards before I go and have yet to meet one on a trip!!! Even with my lime green Mickey head on my bag!

So excited to be heading back to BC/YC. It is our 'first visit' resort so it holds a special place. I am excited to stay YC because I know it's a little more quiet and I want a balcony for sure!

In ONE week I will be on my way to BC! Getting super excited.....first time at BC. After reading and skimming here I may just get out my luggage today and start the packing process!! LOL
I am doing a solo trip.....This being said, what are my chances of scooping up a full balcony. (I made no requests when booking my trip only a couple months ago) I was just happy to snag BC and at a good price with garden view.....
Has anyone made a verbal request upon checking in and it was granted??:confused3

I would think your chance of getting a full balcony at BC is the same as anyone else's (50-50?), but would be better if you added the request on to your reservation. I don't think it is too late to do that. If you can, call today.

Have you done the online checkin? We generally recommend here that you don't- wait until you are there in person to check in so you can discuss your options with the CM at checkin. If you have been assigned a room without a full balcony, check to see if there is a different room available for you. Maybe they assigned you to a room that is immediately available, but one will be ready later in the day.

The CMs will certainly do whatever they can to make you happy if there is a room available that meets your request.

Enjoy your trip!!!

.

Thanks! I am terrible at keeping surprises though. I'm a newbie, but I'm thinking the "dark side" is referencing the YC(?).

The "dark side" reference goes way back on this thread. The BC is perceived as being "light" in color scheming while the YC is more dark wood grain nautical theming, hence the "dard side" reference. Sorry for the confusion.

By the way, the fact that the YC / BC is just one building doesn't mean that you may not have to walk far to get to your room. There are some room locations at the BC and the YC that will rival any walk you have at the Poly or the GF to get to the "out" buildings. That's where the "secret entrances" comes in really handy at the resort.

Board check in time!
Another busy day yesterday. After check out at CR and we did our check in at BLT. Some problems with our reservations. The desk CM could not get our keys to work and I must say she went above and beyond to correct all problems. Still seems Disney has problems with the reservation systems at times so we've learned to be patient. But this was 11am and they did have our room ready so we were good.

After getting everything squared away in the room we headed to AK. We arrived around 2pm so we hit the headliners. Really no wait to speak of. We prefer to do AK in afternoons as the crowds seem to thin out and ride times seem very managable.

We made a quick run by Target before heading back to the room. Had plans to swim when returned. It had been very warm during the day. It hit 80 and we were actually hot at AK. Kali was not a problem! But it had chilled a good bit after sunset. So we just explored the resort. Watched Wishes from the courtyard between CR and BLT. Wandered around CR. Understand that this could be a favorite resort for some but just seems too sterile for our taste. Feels like Swan or Dolphin.

We have early ADR at Crystal Palace this morning but DGS is not on our reservations. We did not have him on the agenda when we made the plans so we will find out at the entrance if he/we can get in. Got to love a little mystery to a day.

Time to motivate....Take care!

I'll add you to the list!

:cool1:

Please let us know your thoughts about both resorts after your stay in June.

:welcome: to the thread. Hope you stick around and decide to give the Beach Club or Yacht Club a try. You truly can't find a better location if you spend a lot of time in EPCOT.

:thumbsup2

ok folks we are 18 days out from a 7 day YC GV CL stay first timers.
I just checked the site and there is no availability at all within the YC except for a CL LV room which I can upgrade to for about $300 more. (I'm surprised the hotel would be sold out - perhaps conferences? ) My question for those who are familiar with the fifth floor - would you upgrade? Is a LV worth the cost I would incur? We do plan on spending some time in the room during the visit.
TIA -

One of the reasons that the YC GV CL room category is probably sold out is that there are so few rooms in this category. From everything I have read, the GV room views are lovely.

Personally, I wouldn't switch, but then again I always book standard view. I don't really care what I am looking at (to me, even rooftops and parking lots at Disney are beautiful :cloud9:) and I am wicked cheap, so I would vote for saving the money.

Hi everyone. I am new to this thread. We just got back from 10 days at the Poly over Christmas. The family wants to go back again and this time stay at the Yacht Club.
We found we spent most of our time at HS and Epcot. Kids are adults now so a day or two max is needed in the MK.

Just wondering if YC rooms have been renovated lately. Also do all Waterview rooms have balconies?

:welcome:

Let us know when you book a trip so we can add you to the Be Our Guest list.

As I mentioned above, the location of the Yacht & Beach Club can't be beat for EPCOT and HS lovers!

I think the Yacht Club and Beach Club rooms were most recently renovated in 2008/2009. You should be all set with a full balcony in all room categories at the Yacht Club.

Getting ready for our 1/25 two night stay before our first cruise. This will be our first time at YC. Thank you to everyone for sharing all of your information on this thread. With just two nights at the hotel I want to be prepared before we arrive.

Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be one day warm enough to at least jump in the pool! My kids have been asking to stay at the hotel with the pirate ship by Epcot for a while now, and of course I book it for January and not when we go in August!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. Hoping for warm weather for you.

:woohoo:

wdwfanva Feb. 21-26 2013 at YC . DW and I are celebrating my BIG birthday, staying concierge (sp)
Staying at POFQ 16-21 . First split stay

:welcome:

Sounds like an awesome trip planned! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:banana::banana::banana:

Oh, starting to get that urge to visit the Beach Club again.

You and me both!

Is this the right thread to be a part of if I'm going to Disney in December 2013 BC? I just noticed at the top it said Nov./Dec. 2012, January 2013. Is there a separate thread for December 2013?

Sweet!! So, the way to keep updated would be to subscribe to this thread then?

:welcome:

Absolutely the right place to be! As others have indicated, the date on the thread refers to current date. Every 4 months or so we need to start up a new thread because this forum gets too large (250 pages)

Some people get overwhelmed since there are so many pages here, but most of the info you need can be found on Page 1, or you can just ask and someone here will try to help. You don't have to read every page (but a lot of people love to)

I have added you to the December Be Our Guest List- let us know your specific dates if you would like.

:goodvibes

Has anyone stayed CL and not opted for the dining plan? Is there enough food throughout the day?

:wave2: MarinaD

Depends on how your family's eating habits and how you plan to tour the parks.

We find the breakfast selections to be a perfect start to an early morning in the parks.

The offerings in the afternoon and early evening appetizers are not intended to replace lunch or dinner, but can definitely supplement meals that you have during the day.

Club Level combined with the regular dining plan is perfect for my family. Great breakfast in the morning, early lunch at a counter service in the parks and an early evening sit down dinner.

If you tend to prefer smaller meals or snacking around the parks, you may choose to skip the dining plan. The other thing about Disney is that the restaurant portions are HUGE, so if you will be sharing meals or ordering appetizers as an entree or if you don't want dessert at every meal then you may not need the dining plan.

Good luck with your decision.

Let us know if you have booked a trip and would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list.

:)

We are going home to the Yacht Club in May!! I can't wait!:yay::yay:

:welcome: back!

So glad to be adding you back to the Be Our Guest list. What are your dates in May?

:cheer2:

First stay at BC next month (Feb.)!! Stayed at Swan last year and loved the area but missed the upscale and Disney feel. Hope the BC will be great as I expect! We'll be in a standard room. Any tips, etc.????

:welcome:

I think you will like it here!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

If you haven't had a chance to look at the first page of this thread, I invite you to check it out, particularly the FAQ and Other Useful Info Sections.

If you have any specific questions, ask away!

I have made a TON of additions to the Be Our Guest list over the past few days. Please take a moment to look it over and make sure I haven't missed you and that the info about your trip is accurate.

Thanks!!!

Dee
