Heather Congrats on the spur of the moment trip. Those are my favorite. Hopefully it's not too stressful for a super organized planner like yourself.

Thanks! Yep...I'm a little out of my element with this trip  Kinda nice to just roll with it, ya know?!

No changes for me. I'm thinking about a Dl trip for my ds's Bday next month. I'm still on the fence about Universal. I have spent so much money on Ap's. I'm not sure I want to buy more tickets, but RPR takes pets, and I got the room for 154.00 a night. :scratchin

No changes for you???!! :confused3.....not for now anyway :rolleyes1 I looked at prices, too, for Universal. My kids haven't been, yet...we've definitely got to give it a try. Maybe one of the boys will want to do a short b-day trip there:thumbsup2 I'm secretly glad it was DHs idea to do MK for Faith's b-day...now when the boys say they want to do something similiar, how will he say no

If you give my boys a choice between Disney and Universal they will choose Universal every time. The best thing about Universal is the price. They always offer 20%-30% off rooms depending on how long you stay. No waiting around for discounts to be released. I can buy 3 day park hoppers for around 550.00. I think Disney is closer to 1100. You Can get CL rooms for 300.00 a night or less. The resorts are nicer than Disney's. The negatives are no fridges in the rooms, a fee for parking, a fee for the health club if your not staying CL, and the cost of drinks at the pool bar:scared1:Club level is the way to go.

No kidding??! They really like Universal better??? Oh geez...that would be my luck...they fall in love with that and refuse to go back to Disney:scared1: I think I would cry. We haven't been in years...since we lived in Orlando and that was like 12 years ago. In all seriousness, it does sound quite nice and something that the kids would enjoy....and DH, since the price would be a bit lower  $300 sounds like a huge deal after paying Disney CL prices! I'll have to get the hubby on this and start pricing things out. Thanks for the info:thumbsup2

Wookie, Sept should have lower crowds than June (at least the later half of June when all schools are out). It will still be hot/humid, and historically has Free Dining if you are intested in that.... also Sept is value seaon .... :)
Wookie...September is a great time to go if you don't want to be part of the masses; however it's hot! But I could certainly deal with "hot" if there aren't any long lines....plenty of places to cool off:thumbsup2

Heather

We're really hoping for free dining. It seems like the better discount for us since we have 4 "Disney Adults". When I priced the trip, without the DDP, it was $2,800. I assume Deluxes get the regular DDP, so we would just have to pay for the upgrade to the DlxDDP. With the $200 deposit we've already put down. If you add the cost to upgrade to the DlxDDP, it brings the trip up to $3,207. Which makes the trip $1,000 cheaper than what it started out at.

I'm hoping that between having two TSs a day, and not having to wait in lines as long as in June, we'll have lots of chances to get out of the heat. Luckily, I still have the polar neck cooling thingies I bought for our last trip and my **** tubes. I'll just make sure to pack them for the trip to help with the heat and humidity.

They will still have to miss school, like they would if we had gone in January. The only difference is what kind of school they will be missing. By the time we go in September, they will still be getting used to the new routines, and not be as heavy into school work as they will be in January. When we would have gone in January, they would be getting ready to take semester (or make it's six week) exams. Plus, if we arrive the day after Labor Day, they only miss 4 days of school vs 5.

So far we've been to WDW in March (over Spring Break), in October, July (just the DH and I over 4th of July for our wedding anniversary), and early June. We're hoping the September crowds will be the lowest ones we have seen.

And Happy Birthday (a little early) -- is it January 10th??

HI to everyone else !!

Thank you. It is January 10th. Our youngest DS has a birthday on the 8th, and will be 14. He wants me to make Le Cellier's mushroom risotto with I will probably pair with rosemary pork chops. Then I ordered him a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling with Neon (or Nyan) Cat on it. If you don't know what that is, it basically looks like a strawberry frosted pop tart with the head, tail, and legs of a grey cat that is flying through space while a rainbow comes out from under it's tail.

Hi guys :) well my interview was on Friday, I must admit I am a tad scared and wondering if this job move is the right move -- I wouldn't want to bite off more than I could chew! If I get the job, I will be working full time, with a promotion up to admin level 3 from my current level 2 position. I'd be doing data entry/ working in inmate accounts -- and moving to a facility significantly larger than where I am ( going from approx 100 inmates to 2,000 / and a staff of 50 to approx 800 in the new facility) the one nice thing about a new facility is everything will be brand new from computers to desks and chairs :) I am second guessing myself about my interview -- you know how it is -- I am thinking there are things I could have answered better. I hate the waiting game, I should know in 2 weeks if I'll get an offer or not.
I am beginning to think if I DO get this job, I may plan a week/ rather 4 days in DL and perhaps a day to Universal California with my DS16 and his BFF next winter (perhaps Feb 2014 sometime). It is just a thought, I'll have to see how life shapes up in the next few weeks for me.
I don't know whether to hope for this new adventure or whether to hope I stay put! I'm very conflicted because I have it so good with my part time gig :p
I wish I knew what would be best! I have such a hard time with the new and the unknown
Marie

Hey Marie! :wave2:

I think that if you did the best you can, then whatever happens is what is meant to be. I think you'll probably find peace in whatever happens, right?

I hope you don't have to wait long to find out. Waiting is the worst! :crazy2:

I hope the time flies by. I hate waiting for news like that. I'm sure you did great. No matter how it went, I' m sure there are things you could look back on and wish you had done different. You know the saying about hindsight being 20/20, right? If it' s meant to be, it will be .

Can't those sick people just take a cab? We love hearing from our Queen when you're out there being the bestest nurse. We feel like you're always there to help us get through the speed bumps that are the resort changes of our lives:)

So you're working all night and then going out for breakfast with our Janet? Don't fall asleep on her stack of cakes. Are you both going to Sarah's memorial together? That would be so nice.

Be careful out there my friend and recap, please Linda!!

Posted from my iPad
Those patients....never stopped!!! Hubs let me sleep yesterday! Had a WONDERFUL breakfast with Janet :cloud9: We were there 3 hours I think :rotfl2: I am on a diet so no pancakes :guilty:

I am hopeful I can catch Janet tonight but I have to be at work at 7pm...so I have to figure travel times out...it's not too far from my hospital I don't think :flower3:

If you are, could you let her family know that we all have them in our thoughts and hearts.
:grouphug: Of course Jen! Hope no more sickness in your house over the weekend
Pas & Janet...hope you two enjoy your breakfast!! :Hugs: to both of you! Pas, thanks for the kind words.

Heather
We did!!!
Janet My tree is still up. I didn't do my Christmas shopping until Christmas eve...no lie. Wednesday am sounds like a plan. Let's pinky swear.

Pas Your on a changing roll, and you still have 5 months.
My tree is also up...:rolleyes1

There are changes a coming....again :rotfl:

We had a family pow wow over our Summer trip....

here's the votes....

Me: WDW one week...June August, anytime...(with value season...leaning to August...again...

Hubs: Universal One week August

DS11...Universal

HRH: 6 nights Universal HRH CL or RPR CL, 5 days WDW...anywhere CL :upsidedow

DD6: WDW AoA Nemo or POR RR

DD5 The Castle and Universal

DS4...we didn't ask

So I am thinking with the stay more save more...I can get HRH CL for less than rack rate at WL SV...SO as of now...I am thinking BLT 2 BR for 4-5 nights then HRH CL for 5 nights...or vice versa....

But we are definitely doing Universal again
No kidding??! They really like Universal better??? Oh geez...that would be my luck...they fall in love with that and refuse to go back to Disney:scared1: I think I would cry. Heather, see above....my last 2 WDW trips converted into US/IoA trips...it's the express passes and pool hopping that makes their on site hotels appealing...the prices...Royal Pacific is priced like a WDW moderate and it's beautiful (but it's not WDW :sad2:)

I wish I knew what would be best! I have such a hard time with the new and the unknown
Marie
 I am sure you ACED it!!! You'll never know until you try Marie! I think if it's meant to be....the waiting though..ugh

Leaving on a jet plane ..... well tomorrow morning. :wave2:

Safe travels Mama!!!!! You're staying Pop first, right??? then moving to POR??? Janet will be there in 2 days :yay:

Hello RC family :wave2: I am up to my eyeballs in GF baking the past few days and have a pizza crust in the oven and am about to start on chocolate chip cookies :faint: I really, really, really hope all of this work pays off and DS' ulcers and errosion clear up, altough I wont really know that until his next endoscopy.

I have so much to catch up on but really quick I wanted to say....

Linda - Have a great trip!!!! :hyper:

Marie - my fingers are crossed for you!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting back to "normal" after the holidays.

Miss you all :goodvibes:grouphug:

...

Back last night. Kiddo off to school this morning. Now, I'm just sitting here trying to make my brain work again. :surfweb: So far, it's not working as planned.

Missed you ladies! :grouphug: Sorry for not checking in more. Those of you leaving or about to, safe travels. Thanks for all the kind words about Miss M. She did save the half of that milkshake for later. :confused3 Seriously. I guess at that point it was more of a chocolate milk-shake. So, we had two tributes to our lovely Sarah: once at Beaches & Cream and once over at The Fountain (in the Dolphin).

What a whirlwind. Shew. (I love these little short trips though; they seem to work best for us.) As for the YC, wow... what can I say? Now, it doesn't have the grand lobby of lots of the other hotels but it's a serious contender now for us between YC and BC. (I think it'd boil down to which had a standard view available. We spend absolutely zero time out on the balcony so it doesn't really matter about the view.) The Christmas decor was still up at the YC&BC as well as over at the Boardwalk Inn. Very pretty. Back to the YC: It was very quiet and calm compared to the hustle and bustle of the BC. Not much between them though for us, I'd say. Since we walked over to the S&D twice to eat and it's a bit closer to the dock, it's got those two things as minor advantages to us but staying there at either the BC or the YC is just the bee's knees for our little trio.

We didn't do MK this trip since the thought of those crowds put us off. We did HS one day and Epcot on another with a down day in between. Saw the Osborne Lights for the first time which were FABULOUS! I was not feelin' the Christmas "thing" being that it was after Christmas. (It's a weird thing... come the evening of the 25th I'm kinda feel like the air has been let out of my Christmas balloon.  Mind you, the trees are still up. :rolleyes1 ) Anyhow, I wasn't feelin' it... until I saw those lights at HS. WOW! Lovely. :santa:

Another first for us was Fantasmic! Jen: You've GOTTA take the girls next time; they'll LOVE it. Just like our RCing experts said, we only got in the line roughly 30 mins beforehand and had perfect seats. Even with the park being super-packed. It was very worth it.

It was so lovely meeting I_Heart. She pulled a Mission Impossible and snuck us up to CL :tiptoe: so Miss M could get one of those beloved sugar cookies with the MM sprinkles on them. What do they put in those anyhow? :scratchin She finds them totally irresistible. Thanks for the pin too, I_Heart! She's put it up on our board already. :goodvibes (Wanted to pick your brains about the parks and resorts more but didn't want to hog your time.)

The weather was pretty wonderful, for the most part. We got to swim twice. Only drizzly-rained on us one day, only a bit chilly on one day, too.

So, the hubs ... I adore that man ... he up and says to me when we were both being mopey before getting on the ME to take us back to the airport yesterday, "And here's where we get on the bus to plan our next trip." *SWOON* I'm not sure when ... but he wants to go back as much as I do.

Can you smell the wood burning, ladies? I'm already getting in "plan-mode." :hyper: :rotfl: Be prepared to have your brains picked over time of year, etc. :thumbsup2

Cookies have to wait....on hold with, well let's just say you are all familiar with the hold music, lol! Looks like I just may be able to move my trip by a day so we can do Wed-Sun instead of Thur-Mon. The rates have changed A LOT so need to see what CRO can do for me.

Glad you're back and had a great trip!!!! :cool1:

Also, glad to hear you loved YC!!! I am getting super excited for our stay...now that we are PIF and I will be able to do my double digit dance in a couple of days!

Good morning :wave2:

Marie: I agree with everyone... you did your best, don't look back and second guess yourself. Things happen for a reason and if the position goes to someone else, it may be because there will be another job down the line that may be perfect for you. If you do get it, just think of all the positives...more challenging work, busier environment, newer facilities, ability to take some additional trips with the bigger paycheck, etc. Waiting is difficult but use that time to plan that DL trip!! :cool1:

Padawans.... no on that tree coming down by Wednesday.... I half attempted Saturday night but DD insisted it stay up... so who was I to agrue?? I have a lot other things to do before 4 am on Wed. :)

Leaving on a jet plane ..... well tomorrow morning. :wave2:

:dance3: See you in 2 days!! We have an expedition to go on!! :yay: Nine times Linda .... that's my record! Let's see if you are up to the challenge!!

Those patients....never stopped!!! Hubs let me sleep yesterday! Had a WONDERFUL breakfast with Janet :cloud9: We were there 3 hours I think :rotfl2: I am on a diet so no pancakes :guilty:

Welcome Home Miss! Sounds like you had a great time! Yes, the Obsborne Lights are AMAZING ::yes:: Can't wait to see where and when your planning takes you popcorn::

Still on hold, ugh :headache:
